Hi,
does anybody know is there an exact position where to mount a home car jack under an RS3, (for etc. if I were to change the winter/summer set of tyres myself at home since all of this corona rubbish)so there is no damage to the chassis of the car?

Even do I do use rubber pads for my car jack I still seem to damage the silicone on the part where the car jack touches the car..

There’s proper jacking points. Should be reasonably obvious when you look under the car/sills. Should also be in the manual.

You can jack from the pinch weld with no issues though use a rubber pad, ideally a slotted one. Or ad D0C says it f you look under the jacking points are pretty obvious. The rears are a boxed rectangular shape like a frame rail, the fronts are a sort of hex shaped protrusion.
would it be too much of a hassle for you to take a pic of the front and back jacking points? And a pic or a link to an ideal rubber pad for an RS3? I'd be much obliged.

It would be hard to tell from a pic. Just look under the car in front of back wheel and behind front wheel. You will see a line imprinted into the chassis rail marking the jack point. You don't need to use a rubber block to fit that location.

Here you go.
The section that is extended you jack from.

When jacking with the trolley jack I use these rubber pucks from an eBay seller.

The points below are for a 2/4 post lift only as they spread the load and not really for single point jacking / lifting.

OK so jacking points are clear...but then once it is up, where do you guys place the stands? For example if you are wanting to raise the whole car off the ground. This always terrifies me lol

I stopped using the Trolly jack for under car work last year......

Not really as my picture above clearly show what to look out for.

Rubber Jack pad with slot helps to protect the lifting Tab on the cills, yes some trolley jacks have a rubber insert piece, but it isn't very thick.

There are several people that have used the rear four post location (the rectangular section in my picture above) to put the axle stand under and on the front have used the subframe area but not directly under a bolt.

There's a good thread to acquaint you here......https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threa...-stands-rusty-hub-fix-and-gtechniq-c5.387632/

Thanks T-1000, always appreciate your posts for the DIY bits! I've been considering a scissor lift like this for a bit, does it line up with the 4 post jack points or does it rest on the length of the cill? Would you recommend one after using it for a bit?
I'd also looked at the race ramps for ease of oil change access without getting the trolley jack and stands out, anyone have any experience with them?

what i have done this week, is say if i want to jack the rear of car up,
i jack the front right offside first, then place a jack stand on rear right,
then jack the left front, then place the stand on rear left.

It lifts on the cills
I use the beam pads that come with it
I make sure the beam pads are aligned with where the front cill tabs finish.

The beam pads are 800 long so spread the lifting load nicely.

After using it several times on 2 different MQB cars I really like it, yes it requires a couple of plastic ramps if your car is lowered, but if it’s standard then it’s easy to wheel under the car.

It took me a few attempts at using it to know where to position everything properly, but now it’s straightforward to use, and gives you great access to the front or rear because of its pivot action.

I did look at cheaper options like the CJAutos version, however that was only rated at 2000kg, the Autolift3000 is rated at 3000kg and tested to 5000kg.

It’s around 45kg but I can lift it and it stands up against the garage wall when not in use.

You can see the beam pad circled here.

Mate, jack stands are rated to about 750Kgs each, so 3,000 kgs over the 4 stands. Once they're in place the car ain't going anywhere. I had my B8 A4 with no wheels up on jack stands over an entire weekend, while I coated my wheels. No issue whatsoever. Did look a little scary with no wheels, but never had an issue.

How much did you pay if you don’t mind me asking, waiting for a message from the seller

1k for the The Auto lift and the tall stands delivered.
