Just read the fitting instructions as I was keen to see where they put the PAS cooler. They cut the crash bar in half.

Rob I know you had it verified that intercooler is fine on the power your going for but 400+ hp that looks way to small to me? Don't want you wasting your time fitting it and knowing you could potentially sell it on as new?
Aslong as its all good then happy days way over the 400hp mark have you not long ordered a tte420? lolYes, fully understandable Ricky.
I had a very helpful conversation with the guys at JHM recently and outlined what I had planned and power etc I was hoping to gain along with parts I plan on using.
They advised that it would be fine as going too large may not allways be beneficial with the B7 tfsi, there is another size upfrom this one which is a mid way between the airtech and the one I have , but JHM didn't really feel I needed it unless I was going way over the 400bhp mark.
So I have been guided by them really on size.
This was an option when I was in the market for one but opted for the airtec just for the fact nearly a 3rd of this one is covered by the crash bar, the sheer size of it should still be more than enough for cooling but generally felt it could of done with a custom crash bar to fully utilise it if going for big power. Finally got around to fitting mine today.
AWE tuning FMIC.
I can confirm that no modification of the crash bar was required at all. She's a big old unit.

I was surprised at the size difference, saying that the both together are bigger than sti's so goes to show there decent enough size from stock but minuscule compared to the big front mounts.Yeah some of it is covered. But once you see it side by side with the original side mounts though there are no worries. Power steering cooler relocation was easy enough too.
Was one of the first parts I managed to get off of ebay (brand new in box) about 3 years ago.

I say we all post back after summer see who's collected the most flies.Colour doesn't really matter, they'll all be full of dead flys soon, haha.
Funny that you should mention that.I hope you chaps with large FMIC's have a PCV catch tank setup installed with those big coolers, with those fitted and BHP increases you will be getting even more oil residue issues and associated problems unless you have a means of draining oil build up from the IC.
OEM coolers are easy to drain and its not such an issue draining them if you don't have a catch tank in place, but the big ones , well you have been warned.
I didn't have anything near that quantity of oil in mine. One had a few drops the other had nothing worthy of a mention.nothing like this then.

Just having a read through this as thinking of doing this myself
Does the power steering cooler need to be moved out the way as it’s such a lump?
Only I have seen one on ECS that they give you a new cooler with the kit and this is repositioned!?

Airtec is usually on Fords so there used to being on piles of sh**e so that's classed as a perfectly fine way to do it in Ford land lol.You bend the PAS cooler out the way with the airtec one, it's a bit crude.
I bought (and probably still have somewhere) a later A6 PAS cooler which is both longer and mounts to the bottom of the airtec intercooler. A nicer solution than twisting the original.
Not a fan of them at all Rob, I'm a Vauxhall guy more than Ford, Calibra's, Cavalier, nova's ect are my cup of tea, loved my Calibra would love another, also prefer the newer Vauxhalls over Fords, one thing we will agree on is yes I bet you have had a few lol, for the record I don't hate them for a specific reason or think there bad cars as most are great cars (more the older ones 80's 90's era) but my personal opinion why I like Vauxhalls more probably has something to do with my past that's to deep to get into on a forum hahaNot all fords are tat Ricky, just most.
I've had a few myself..lol
