Vodafone broadband!

So after months of slow broadband speeds and being given the merry run around, i.e blaming our connections, Vodafone finally admit there isn't enough capacity in the main cable to cope with the number of houses and it needs an extra line which could take 12 weeks.
We're still in contract for another 4 months but I've told them I want to leave.
Speed wise at 6 in the morning we get 29mbps at 7 in the evening its 3mbps and stays around there till late....I've no idea what 4k netflix looks like lol
So if I leave for another provider and they use the same network, will it be the same or is it not as simple as that?
Vodafone say only virgin and sky use there own cables!

So that sounds like I'm stuffed then unless I go with virgin.
Supposedly they are having a discussion over it today and someone will call me regards a resolution but it sounds like I'm stuck with the buffering for a while.

That is correct
Openreach or BT own the wires.
We jumped ship from sky to Vodafone and the difference is twice the speed.
Probably not what you wanted to here lol.
But it generally comes down to the hardware at the end of the street.
Our broadband is piped to us from cabinet to phone line.
Sky could only guarantee us upto 32 I believe.
Vodafone could offer upto 76 using the existing stuff in the street.
It's maybe regional dependable on where you live and stuff but for what it's worth, our broadband speeds doubled going with Vodafone, and cheaper too.
Sky don't commit to such high speeds because they can't provide it.
Vodafone can.
My advice would be hang in there and complain lots until they get the finger out and upgrade the exchange.
Vodafone for me is definitely better than sky certainly was

Its been fine for the first 12 months and then its gradually got worse over the last 2.
All our line will support is 35mbps and tbh that's way faster than what we need.
I've been complaining to Vodafone over the last month, initially through the live chat and then onto the tech 2 team.
They could of diagnosed this right at the beginning but they would rather waste everybody's time first before actually checking they're computer and realising the line is over subscribed
I've wasted hours telling them it's not us.
What I dont know or understand is how the broadband suppliers use the openreach network.
Do they have unlimited access or do they purchase a slice of the traffic that comes down the line as that could make a big difference.
Vodafone is the cheapest but is that for a reason?

That would explain the sapping I think.
If so then get onto them.
I'm my case, we got Vodafone after openreach had put new cabinets in, so the capacity was there.
Prior to the open reach cabinets, speed was pretty pants.
Vodafone customer service is pretty pants tbf, but luckily I have never needed them in 3 years.
Sky customer service was better, which is probably why we have better cabinets in now due to my complaining lol.
My mate who lives 2 streets away got sky fibre direct to his house and loves it, but it's all down to geographic layout.
They fed a fibre wire straight to his house because of where he lives.
It's all down to variables.
I suspect in your scenario, the system is getting bogged down to overload

100% they said that, they looked to try and switch me to a different line and there isn't one. But this is after weeks of going around in circles. They could see the line was in the red zone with 327 houses using it at that time. The only fix they have is if openreach agree to put a new line in to the cabinet which could take up to 12 weeks.
I couldnt even stream a song on spotify the other day it was that bad!

Hi there your BB is going up and down at some rate. Please use a wired connection to test your speeds that’s the most reliable source. Is it standard ADSL broadband you have or is it FTTC? Does your line have a fault on it and there is no spare lines that you can be transferred onto? If it’s a fault and it’s FTTC then it’s possible you have faulty fibre ports and there are no spare ports. If it’s a faulty dside then it’s possible that it’s a cable breakdown and it needs a new length replaced. In both cases of the fault 12 weeks is totally unacceptable.

It has improved a bit recently to a usable level at least.
Is FTTC...fibre to the cabinet? If so yes that's what I have.
There are no faults on the line and the cable from my house was replaced from the master socket, back to the pole.
I did have some "Rein" interference from a faulty power adapter which sorted my sync speed out but at peak times it can still drop to under 5mbps and that's using an ethernet cable.
According to Vodafone and I've not had it verified by anyone else, the capacity in the network is just not there with the lines available

Ahhh ok and yes FTTC is fibre to the cabinet and that’s your drop wire that has been replaced. What I would be doing is requesting a broadband boost engineer visit to get his laptop out to look up whoosh (openreach software) to get an idea why this is happening. Either that or an SFI job just so the engineer has time to investigate. With these two products it’s far better than just a plain old fault that if tests OK they will just close the task and say your line is testing OK after a pair quality test and standard line test Ofcourse. Get that sorted out and if that doesn't fix anything please do change provider. I know it maybe the same cables but your new provider might get things rolling a bit faster. I would guess at 7 in the evening something is interfering again (REIN) rememberer it can be your neighbour or a street light/appliance for example.

Yeah no worries I try my best lol. This is a tricky question as I have virgin BB and it’s pretty stable and the speeds are good to but my friend round the corner had it and it was awful so he switched to BT FTTC and hasn’t looked back. You’ve obviously got two options BT or Virgin but I will throw another product into the mix it’s called G.fast and BT offer it if you are close enough to the street cabinet (think it’s about 200/250 meters) the speeds and stability you’ll get with this product should be magic for you/family and this is the premium product so they make sure your services/line are tip top. As for Virgin media yep if your house can get it I would seriously be considering it don’t be fooled that this is fibre all the way to your home though it’s not it’s just like FTTC then they send Broadband and TV signals via a coax cable (I think it is a twin cable one side coax and the other side telephone like cat 5) I think virgin can be had for a reasonable price but it does creep up so do keep an eye on it. I think mines is £29 a month for 100mb download which I do get hardwired but upload is not the best about 8mb still plenty for me. So to conclude I would look into G.fast first and if you can get that go for it 1st choice. If G.fast is not an option then bite the bullet and switch to Virgin media maybe a little hassle ie digging of a small trench in the garden but nothing much. You’ve kinda nothing to loose with either option as your broadband is not stable anyway. What I usually tell people is get a good stable connection first then concern yourself with speeds. Our BT fibre contract came up for renewal & to be honest ,we wasn't to pleased with the service as many a time the series linked recording would fail to do just that the fibre only goes to the Lucy box . Not into our home . so we went with vodaphone who use the same line & yet were nearly half the price ... our connection still is not perfect , however it is better and never fails to record in the four months since we changed ... ps if you have a Bt freeview box you can still use the pause / record ect ... our son is far happier playing online too and never complains about his online gaming being too laggy .

Your bang on it’s the same line and if it’s better from your current provider I wouldn’t bother changing if your happy. I can’t really comment on the box not recording as if it’s connected to the internet no matter who the provider is it should should behave in the same manner. The box records everytime now with vodaphone ... not once has it failed to work.. my wife is a nurse so obviously she wants to catch up, but without having to sit through what seems like more and more ads... not sure why bt line get lagging as same line ... maybe they have to compensate ? I recal watching youtube from a bt technician stating . that BT are able to drop your connection speed remotely & they do this to drum up more custom.. and how to rectify this yourself ... but every month got a bit much .. now with vodaphone no problems ... the only gripe I have is that vodaphone age consent thing does play havoc with some sites that you wish to use like prime movies that I had to reset..

Ahhh fair enough I am with you and that truly would be a pain in the ar** lol. This definitely can be done dropping your speeds Ect but it’s kinda against the ofcom rules I think but hey rules do get broken. The reason I am saying this is ofcom have changed things or are going to soon meaning if your speeds “drop bellow the promised levels” so in theory whoever you go with is promising you the speed 100% and if they don’t deliver it you can exit the contract penalty free. Can you not just stay with voda and request them to remove all age restrictions? I am sure if it was a case of you going to leave they would do there best to retain your custom don’t you think.

A quick question that you may be able to help with. I am Requiring new from pads and discs for the A5 (1 disc is warped) any ideas of the ones I should get. Eicher seem to be the cheapest about just now but never used them before. What ones do you use and do you have any issues with them?

Haha I am guessing they are p*** then. Guess I will be getting Brembo ones then unless somebody wants to point me in the right direction. I quite like the brand Ferodo aswell but another reasonably price brand have popped up called Bolk. Again haven’t heard of them either

Eicher are cheap, I believe a few people don't rate them overall. Im also led to believe they're European Car Parts own brand ,which would tell me you get what you pay for. Yes they will stop you. However Shortly after use you should Expect discoloration & dont be surprised if you feel a judder again in the future from further warping .The rears on your car do most of the work to be honest. Unlike many manufacturers who bias the brakes to the front, VAG use a system where for normal day to day driving the rears are biased to be used. Under heavy braking the fronts take over, but for normal driving about town etc. you'll find the rears wear much quicker than the fronts. But in general they are okay for every day use under normal conditions... like I say expect discolouration & run out (warping) under heavy braking ...Why Have you not considered OEM genuine parts ? Not much more in price or perhaps consider drilled n slotted brembo if you want best quality & aesthetically pleasing appearance for puddle hopper for a few s-quids more again .

It gave me the choice to do it online chez ...but i still have the same issues ... I tried to call them but apparently my mrs has to confirm this as shes the account holder. problem is at moment and her being a nurse ... shes hardly here & cant be bothered with the phone call understandably so when she is .....

things like ABC movies or f- movies will not load homepage .
f- movies was great for Boxsets ect ...! Some That prime charge for (even when they've just been screened across all networks ) . Hence ( strangers ) looked really good on gogglebox. I could not find it anywhere, probably would be able to watch it on fmovies. But other than that not a problem, were happy with vodaphone.
