Next model A3

Wind up....moi?????.....never lol still dont like a 911 though
Most models in the Porsche line up are Audis underneath with a less attractive skin on them Macan,Cayenne,Panamera

You are definitely on the wind up, I do like the latest Panamera but agree it’s essentially an RS6.

911 GT’s, cayman/boxsters are great looking cars.

Yes staff I'll agree with that....mostly staff not ....salesman.....l know many on a personal level....and all ye would have a pint with.....keeping in my mind l am from Glasgow....and we aint renowned for being pretentious....besides l mention the Porsche brand as being perceived as pretentious plus not being a Porsche fan....and all the non Audi drivers/owners on here start getting tore in..........lol
As l have previously mentioned...this is a A3/S3 car forum thread....nowt else

lve owned 4 Audi’s, certainly the majority of the salesmen I dealt with in Audi were extremely pretentious.

We only have 2 Audi dealerships in Northern Ireland (which are both owned by the same company), so I appreciate my experience is limited these specific places.

We have 4 BMW dealerships here, which is quite a lot of the size of the country. But BMWs are very popular here, having owned 6 BMW’s split between the 4 dealerships I would have to say it’s a 50/50 split on the pretentious.

The majority of sales people in most of these prestigious brands, whether it be cars, clothes or whatever have a real pretentiousness about them.

I have seen them treat people coming into the showroom very differently, based on the way they are dressed for example.

Only on one occasion l have been dismissed of sorts was by a female at the main reception of whetstone Audi because l pronounced the salesman name wrongly "Italian surname "l was dealing with via email ...she abruptly corrected me and kept me waiting 45 minutes didn't even offer me a cuppa....and that was on my collection day ....when l did eventually meet face to face with the salesman he apologised profusely about how l had been treated and was a real Gent gave me a few hundred quid worth of freebies and full tank of petrol will definitely be contacting him first when l go change my car again

Totally agree that you can have a very good and very bad experience in the same dealership, I always try to speak to a specific salesman that has been personally recommended to me. One bad experience can completely sour your view of an entire brand.

For example, my experience with the A35 means it is highly unlikely I will ever buy a Mercedes again. And that’s not down to the car, any car can have issues, however it’s how they are addressed and how you are treated. The sales manager and service manager in my local Mercedes dealership were by far the worst people had I had ever dealt with, and I certainly wouldn’t want them representing any brand I was associated with.

Agree on that point, I'm lucky and found a pretty decent salesman at my local Audi.

Round here the closest BMW is absolutely awful, went there before I got my S5 looking to test drive an M2. I think given my age they were more interested in chatting between themselves then coming over to chat to me. Even when I asked about a test drive they gave me some excuse as to why they couldn't. Won't be going back that's for sure.

Similar experience.

Audi? Salesmen think that you should just buy one at the asking price, as they are a cut above the rest. Only dealt with one good Audi saleswoman, and she got the sale of my S3.

Jaguar? Salesman (only dealt with one TBF) was up his own backside. Outright refused me a test drive of an F-Type. Even though I pulled up in an R8.

BMW? Not too bad, but can be very pushy on past experience.

Porsche? Really friendly and chatty. Was made very welcome. Wasn't pushy at all.

I know I'm to own a Porsche at some point. Nearly pulled the trigger on a GT4 last year. And after that started looking at 911 Carrera T's. But being self employed, and with enquiries tailing off last year (due to Brexit uncertainty) and now this Coronavirus, Construction will take a very big hit now. Please I didn't buy one now. But in the future, I will own one.

In the construction trade as well, and certainly concur with your points. I think we will see a turnaround after this Covid 19 situation goes away, then I to will be looking at a Porker within the next few years - weekend toy hopefully.

Corona has had the opposite effect in the industry l work in now ie semi conductors....because of the silicone chips/wafers/machines we produce are vital for the medical industry....and it'll stay busier than normal until the rest of the world is back on track....our biggest customer is based in France/China ....so glad l got out of the commercial sparky work when l did

Eh.....X3 40i......different kettle of fish..............lol

Positive equity according to who, the people selling you GAP?

Might be a different story when you try to trade in or sell.

My A3 performed abysmally over my PCP and I had to keep it until the end of the term and hand it back.

What model did have
What deposit did you pay...

A3 1.0 SE. Zero deposit.

Now answer my question ;-)

I must have read that wrong. The car is worth £2910 but you still owe audi finance £27300 on a 17 reg ?

My idiot other half just told me he has been emailing back and forth with Stratstones about swapping his a35 for a c43 coupe today! I'm annoyed that they are open and even more annoyed he's thinking of a car at this time. Stupid man. The part ex price they've offered is the same as before corona. I threw a fit so I think it's on the backburner now

Are GAP going to buy it off you then?

They can estimate anything they like, but it's the dealer or private buyer who you need to convince that you think it's worth £X amount. TBH I think the car industry is going to suffer with this Coronavirus. It's reported that VW are losing $2.2B a week. A Week !!!!!!

I can see values of cars hitting rock bottom, as dealers will be keen to start shifting cars, with discounts galore. Must affect the second hand market too.

agreed ... definitely not the time to be considering buying or selling cars right now.
It could go one of a few ways after all this ....
Rock bottom part ex prices but massive discounts on new cars or lack of new cars coming through after the slow down or stopping of production lines then restricting supply for a while so that enables Dealers to keep new car prices more stable IF there is a demand for new cars.

To be fair, it could be a great time to buy. If the PX price is good. Make a cheeky offer on the C43, especially so if it's sat there in stock. Offer 30% off list as a minimum. Could be the only money they make in months.

But buying a car now, you'd both have to be pretty confident neither of your jobs are at risk. Either that or lots of money in the bank.
