I wasn't getting any new car a few months ago nev....true...yeah l thought about a BMW but unfortunately they dont have a car that meets my requirements that's within my budget ....looking forward to seeing the new S3 saloon that'll give me even more of a incentive to get one.....and you could say that l am a bit of Audi fanboy, so question for you if you where in my shoes what car would you be thinking about buying?

Whatever you do, don’t go for the BMW M235i Gran Coupe. Seen one parked up during the weekend, and couldn’t believe how bad looking it is. Really is a shocker :shutup2:

They Stopped doing the model l was wanting mate ie a Vorsprung model with Matte Aluminium bits on it....think these where the first batch of new TTS to hit the UK late summer last year...

.Vorsprung models now all have the black styling pack on them....prefer the TTS with the Matte Aluminium trim on them looks far more distinctive

l am a very fussy barsteward...lol

Would love to know how Porsche is a more pretentious brand than Audi???

Nope. I'd still like to know.

Av given ya too much credit in the past ....by the looks of it and you should know but of course you do,The Porsche brand attracts a certain type of buyer go visit a Porker forum/showrooms ...and you'll find out....they're Hugely overpriced...go look at the options list on any Porsche model ......extremely poor value for yer buck .....
And yes l would have the far 'less pretentious' TTS before a boxster because l ain't a Porsche type of person

Sounds like you perceive the people as pretentious.

To me pretentious means to pretend to be something that you're not. That can't be said about Cayman, 911 etc.

Expensive yes but on a totally different level to Audi in terms of being a driving tool, no?
I have never seen a poor review of a Porsche sports car.

They also hold their value very well indeed.

I think with any prestigious brand, there will be those owners who always think they are above everyone else. Audi included.

Yes the 911 is stupidly priced now, but compared to say a Ferrari, they are a bargain for what they will do. And you can stick more than 3000 miles on a 911, and it won't be unsaleable.

I'd love a 911 or Cayman GT4, and looked at both last year. Yet I don't think I'm better than anyone else. It's just a car I really want to own as something special (to me) for a weekend drive.

Look at the option list on any 911, and yes, the list is long and expensive. But you can skip most of those options to still buy a well specced 911, as the main core of the car is great from the off.

For example the new 911
Just one Look at the new 911 would deter most from even contemplating buying it's a mess front and rear....at speed when one passes you, you'd think it's just been rear ended with half its tail sticking up in the air...aka...its rear spoiler yes it's a hugely pretentious brand that's just my opinion and its not a car l would aspire to ...l am very content with being in a A3 ....same as l ain't a private reg guy either l am one of the very rare drivers in my neck of the woods who rents a S3/A3 that's not got a private reg on it .....not my thing each to their own

I'll never know if they hold they're value well....dare say if you load it with options ....it will drop a good bit in price....

Each to their own. But when you say `most`, you mean `you`. I think most petrol heads know the 911 is probably the most least pretentious out of of all the sportscar / supercar brands.

I think the current 911 is just about motoring perfection. I wish I could afford one.

As its currently out of my price band, a 718 Cayman is next on my list. I have always wanted a Porsche but until recently a 2 seater wasn't an option for me.

As for it being considered pretentious, I don't agree. And it wouldn't really bother me what other people thought anyway, Porsches are undeniably fantastic cars.

I actually think Audi's are more pretentious nowadays, plenty of folks walking around with their nose in the air whilst driving a basic A4 or A1, thinking they are someone because the car has an Audi badge on it.

Lol I found out someone I know is paying nearly £400 a month for a A3 SE diesel, crazy how much people value ‘owning’ a new car...

I disagree of course l do av been on here more than most..and most owners/members who have come and gone on here have been down to earth of course there's been the odd one here and there and my son who sold Audi's for 6 years would mostly agree with that

You keep moving them,l told you why l perceived the Porsche brand as pretentious
Then l mentioned depreciation if heavily optioned and you replied who needs options....well you really dont know the mindset of most Porsche renters ....

I have been in few less pretentious places than an Audi showroom, and to be honest its usually the staff that are the most pretentious people in the place.

@jassyo06 are you on a Covid induced wind up at the moment? Not too long ago you’d never touch a new Audi but now they are flavour of the month.

We all know Audi’s are just VW’s with a nicer dress on and we’ve all fallen for it and paid the premium at some point.

A few friends and my partners dad have Porsche’s, they are on a totally different level to what Audi offer, doesn’t mean every owner is pretentious though.

I’m sure you are on a wind up, you are as much a car lover as the rest of us.
