Launched today 3rd March 2020 - Looks very interesting. Totally new interior.

S3 with 333BHP which makes me wonder if the RS3 may have 444BHP? Just like the old RS4 (but no RS3 announced today).

Seen this earlier. Not keen. But then I need to remind myself that that’s the crappy spec version and not what the RS3 will look like.

I do like the side view with the lines and angles, hopefully real exhaust tips on the S/RS models though!

Nice thought that the new RS3 will get 444bhp but can't see it myself when the RS4 only has 450bhp (at least that's what I've read). I can see it matching the A45S or perhaps a bhp or two more (425 a decent shout?) but can't believe Audi will take it much closer to RS4 levels...although I do realise they're different size cars...
Hope you're right though because at 444bhp they can have my deposit (although the price may prove to be scary..)

Love it! As doc says, it’s the ‘crappy’ sport spec, so as far as I’m concerned, if it looks as good as it does above, s line and above it’s only going to get better and better.

As I’ve said elsewhere, comparing this to similarly bog standard A class and BM, the Audi is far nicer externally, just unsure about the interior.

Looking forward to seeing what the S3 looks like.

keen myself for another RS3 but if it’s priced in line with the A45s at near on 60k then I’m out.

It will almost definitely be that with a few decent options

The interior reminds me of the lambo design language.

Personally I think it looks too fussy. Same with the front end. I take it it is still MQB and this is mainly a cosmetic shift with no fundamental change?

It is trying FAR TOO hard to be a Lambo ... & it isn't a Lambo.

I personally hate those air vents stuck right next to the main dash - they look horrible and the rest of the dash looks dis-jointed ... as though several different designers came up with a section of the interior each - its just not neatly laid out, things are just randomly positioned IMO.

Exterior is more of a face lift and there are far too many false panels and fake vents etc.

Its 'OK' but it is not raising any excitement levels put it that way.

if the vents were the same level as the passenger vents it would balance out - but they look like ears stuck on the main dash as they are

Its almost like they have positioned the other controls and thought afterwards **** Guys we forgot the drivers vents ... so stuck them there :tearsofjoy:

I think it looks gash

Like a civic lubed itself up and climbed in bed with an A45 and both parties disgraced themselves to an unreasonable amount resulting in this demon crotchspawn

Where did you read the new S3 will get 333hp?
Everywhere I've read so far states only 306 same as out going model, although that must be crap since there's talk the new golf R will get, surprisingly, 333hp !

Interesting the comments on here about 2021 RS3, surely it will be roughly 100hp up on the S3 as it pretty much always has been. I would bet Audi will release an RS4 update prior to the new RS3 and that will have 50hp up on the RS3 i.e 480ish....
Which begs the question, if Audi do give the new RS3 430ish just to spank the A45s then how much more can Merc squeeze out of that already ludicrously over stretched 4pot...

The bottom LED lights in the headlights, consisting 15 light-emitting diodes shows a specific daytime running light signature depending on the equipment version.

The air-vents around the steering wheel are design element to mimic the steering handles of a Ducati motorbike, and not from a Lamborghini.

Remember, the car shows is not an S-line. S3 and RS3 will follow soon. S3 very soon, and RS3 in around September 2020.
All A3 models, will have no exhaust, or design elements to mimic the look of an exhaust. It’s not fake exhaust, cause it’s not trying to look like one. S3 will have 4 real exhausts and the RS3 typical big dual RS-oval ones.

I think the car shown, for being a basic non S-line model, it looks actually very good and promising. I’m a big fan of the interior and thank God that Audi listened to it’s customers and feedback and didn’t put a 3rd screen for the AC controls.

Also, the color Atollblue is a brand new Audi color.

Matt Watson from car wow said in his review the S3 would have 333 bhp .

I don't think the Merc A45s 4pot is ludicrously over stretched at all look at F1 engines they produce 800bhp from a 1.6 turbo I know comparing an F1 car to a road car is not the best example . @Spinstorm as beat me to it mentioning it in another post the new koenigsegg Gemera as a 2.0 litre 3 cylinder turbo with 600bhp and 442 ib-ft of torque which proves the power can be had reliably with todays technology .

There is no way that A3 in the pics is not an S-line a standard spec A3 ain’t going to look that good

Same engine will be over 500hp when they drop it in the c63!

The pictures are showing a NON-S-line.

The S-line looks like this (see video).

Of course it isn't coz you've bought a fast Merc lol

^^ by all accounts the head of AMG stormed out of the board meeting after he was told AMG need to go to 4cyl............

The regulators are obsessed with emissions and the nonsense that is, anybody who drives any turbo hard (even a turbo diesel) knows that when a turbo is on boost it gobbles fuel down at alarming rates.........if MB get a reliable 500bhp from a 4cyl imagine the size of the turbo/boost pressure and the fuel it will guzzle under full load............would be interesting to see in the real world how the figures are different to current.
For example, I have a V10 and give it some stick now and then yet have averaged 22.4mpg over the last 4k miles........on a motorway run it gets 25-26mpg yet it is taxed so much higher than a similarly powerful BM/MB turbo.

And back on track, if you think 33bhp will make you faster on the road than the current 300 or 310bhp you're kidding yourself.
If I still had my S3 no way would I be changing for the newly proposed S3.

maybe "announced" for Mar 2021 deliveries?

Yes it will likely be announced in Sep not released. Not sure about the average turnaround between announcement to delivery.

So announced for 2021 delivery maybe a "safer" comment.
Now that the A3 has been announced, reckon the S3 won't be THAT far behind, but RS who knows.
Surely they would want to provide the A45S some competition

I’m fairly happy with how it looks, but there are some things I don’t like. I think generally hatchbacks are looking less and less like actual hatchbacks lately, and the same goes with this new A3...they all seem to look like some weird 4x4 or something.

I also am not a fan of the LED lights, the shape of the lights themselves look decent though.

Another thing I’m not hugely fond of is the interior, I know Audi needs to go with the times but I really don’t like touchscreens, I still really like the screen that comes out the dash (don’t care how outdated and how unpopular this opinion will be). I like an easy on the eye interior, that being said it’s still nice.

Overall I think it’s really good, I just really want to see what the S3 and RS3 look like and especially how they’ll sound in today’s world were cars sound like a ****** hoover.

You said that about the far superior Facelift S3

And that extra 33 bhp will make the new S3 faster than its rivals 135iM and the AMG 35.l assume that's Audi's reasoning

I am in the same boat. The way I see it...overall better exterior design with better mechanicals and software controls, but a relatively major step-back in interior ergonomics.

Pros of new 2021 model:

++ Exterior design is much better than the outgoing FL model.
++ Haldex VI AWD (hopefully more reliable)
+ Faster MIB3 system with enhanced processing power
+ Bigger screen so parking aids are easier to use
+ More luxurious option (like memory seat)
+ Fancy LED interior lightings
+ Extra power (but probably not noticeable)
+ Slightly wider and longer (I'd argue it is the optimal size)

Cons of new 2021 model:
-- Touchscreen only (I hope they enhanced the steering wheel control to mitigate this)
- Location of screen is not as ideal as the outgoing model (didn't need to look down before, just to the side to see the screen)
- Cup holder location is not ideal
- The new air vents are not as practical as the outgoing model (round vents are easier to aim towards a desired direction)
- Climate controls are now without the circular knob control (much easier to use without having to look at it)
- A bit too much gloss black bits in the interior
- Cheaper interior (e.g. removal of door trim exposing door color on the inside)
