Tried searching but the question is rather specific to the short lived pre facelift facelift.

Looking to purchase a black RS style grill or just a black edition grill but unsure if the pre facelift bumper / grill ( for which all of the grills for sale were designed to fit) has the same fittings and grill size as my 2019 model

Has anyone replaced a grill on this before ? And can I just use a pre facelift one ?

I know logically it would have been daft for Audi to change the grill fittings and size but it was daft to have a facelift before the proper facelift also !

For anyone wondering then the fitment is the same as the 2016 - 2018 models

Did you end up fitting this? Where did you source it from China? Do you have the front facing camera, any issues?

Still not fitted
I don’t have camera in the grill I’m afraid

Was from eBay from China yes, took 2 months to get here

Having come from an RS to the S4 I wish you well in trying to keep the RS front honeycomb grille anywhere near clean.
You’ll likely be in therapy within months.

Really interested in this for my 16 plate. What did the grill set you back? Does it come with all the necessary fittings?

Cheers

Was £120 from eBay - came with the chrome rings attached which is what I wanted - don’t like the ring less grills or ones with black badges - looks like a gaping black hole.

Fittings for attaching sensors and camera came with it in a little bag also a set of RS4 badges which went in the bin

Yeah I know what you mean. My MK7 GTI has honeycomb grills and it was a chore to get in every crevice to clean and dry

Do you plan on fitting it yourself? If so when?

Yes, bumper off and pop the old one out and see how it goes.
Was planning on doing it last weekend but ran out of time. Next weekend or the weekend after I’m going to give it a go

I have the 2018 S4 B9 saloon and just gone to the black after-market RS4 style grill - purchased from fleabay and had fitted by local fitter.

Pleased with results - pic of grill attached.

Will post on car images later.

Perfect - waiting for fitted pics now.

I’m going to have to dechrome all of the silver on mine once fitted - going to be a costly or time consuming challenge

I’m definitely painting my crash bar black before fitting the grill. Nothing worse than the he singer popping through

The grill is ebay item number - 174186288915

Here are some after fitting pics of the grill

I also de-chromed the car - had carbon mirror caps fitted, window trims, lower fog light grills and rear bumper lower trim wrapped in gloss black + all badges replaced with black (waiting for new grill badge)

Thoughts??

@Stellan Have you got a link. Was your crash bar silver when had it taken off?
Yes it's silver but even though visible in the photos you can really see it with the naked eye. I admit it would look better if it was black though.

I like it all except the V6T being in black, which somehow doesn't appeal to me - thinking about change my front and rear Audi Rings and the rear S4 badge to Black. Were yours (the rear) an exact size match for the originals?

Hi, yes but you are best to measure them and then search for correct size.

The rear S4 badge comes in 2 sizes

Like the grill but the crash bar needs sprayed black. It would bug me. Rattle cans of pvc spray
The silver crash bar is interesting - You can see that at each end of the crash bar appears to be darker, this is because of dark grey polystyrene pieces that sit between the grill and the crash bar, shame Audi didn't make them full width then no need to re-paint or plasticoat !!

Covid-19 has got me working shifts so I have the afternoons free. With the weather so nice (and nowhere to go) I decided to bite the bullet and swap this grill over on my 2019 B9.25 pre facelift facelift

I followed the YouTube video below for the removal of the bumper and the grill.

Facelift had some very minor differences eg. The bonnet catch has an indent section at the back which you need to push in to release and remove. The video says just to pull up.

You need to be brave when pulling the sides of the bumper outwards as they need a good tug after removing the push pin inside and the T30 towards the front under the headlights (explained in the video)

Audi really know how to turn a half hour job into whole afternoon. So many things to relive before you can even get the old grill off !

RS style Grill advertised for a 2016 fitted just right with a little persuasion and crossed fingers.

I have quite a few pics from the grill swap process but Tapatalk wants me to be a VIP
to post more than one picture at a time.

Looking really nice, great picture against the sunset

The grill had holes for my parking sensors so I had to hack up one of the original brackets for it to fit in the smaller space on the RS grill. The manufacturer kindly included one of the two required brackets so used that for the other side. Only problem is, my sensors are grey so I’ll need to wrap them gloss black at some point.

How did you find the sensor mounting and what are you going to do for a front plate solution?

I mentioned the sensors above. They weren’t as difficult as I thought, no errors after disconnecting and refitting them so far also.

I have some “push locks” which I still need to fit to my number plate. Hoping to get away with running with no plate on the way to work and back tomorrow. I’ll sort them out and get some pics with the push locks fitted tomorrow afternoon

Now I just need to colour code the parking sensors
