I know ultimately only I can answer this question but a year into my SQ5 ownership I'm going through the usual that looks nice scenario.
I get bored of cars quite quickly , the SQ5 is great and I'm happy to keep it. However I've seen a nice well optioned RSQ3 that is well within budget.
It's in an exclusive colour.....Estoril I think.....and in some ways I would benefit from the smaller dimensions.
So would it be special enough to justify the change or would I soon get bored again?

I think with the Q3 the Performance version is the one to go for. Much more wow factor when you put your foot down!

It is John. I always have these wobbles from time to time and I'm missing the 21's on too at the moment.
Originally it was always going to be an RSQ3 bar non as I thought the SQ5 too tight to go right down the drive, if I breath in and dont look it's fine lol.......

I was the same, Re tight to get a SQ5 in my new garage, If Id have gone for a 5 it would have been the performance mod, Id always wanted a RSQ3 but the single exhaust but me off it, Then I saw the 1 I have now totally mint and high spec, Low miles 9000, The rest is history, Bought it Sorted the exhaust , Brilliant fast SUV!! In the performance blue, Just 100% for me now,

Your SQ5 looks real nice, You will need a performance RS to better it, I had a 64 plate SQ5 with a REVO remap Kept it for a year or so it was that good, Then got a Merc GLA AMG bad mistake (for me) once I got used to it , Did not like it, Sold to a dealer for cash, Whilst doing new house up, Then when ready to buy again it was the RS or Sq5 , So pleased I got this AScari Blue RSQ3, Smaller than the SQ But big enough for the 2 of us, And faster than all my last cars except the Subaru,s I raced for 15 years.

Putting the performance differences to one side Alan, how did you find it going from a Q5 to the Q3 platform, it is a step down in reality?

I toyed with a GLA45 yellow night edition that was for sale locally but. I remembered your comments on the GLA from before and that put me off, it's also too low in reality for the wife.
I've got the MTM M cantronic on the SQ, maxhaust exhaust controller and changed the suspension to bilstein shocks/Eibach springs and the thing is transformed now, It rides better, goes better and sounds better.
I guess the decision will be made easier when the dealer comes back with the cost to change and I'll fall over laughing

To be honest the Qs is grander (Don't tell anyone I said that)LoL!! But as Ive said Im good with mine, I think the Range rovers are grand too, But I would not want one, When I traded my 64 plate in for the Merc they gave me £27K px, It had 26K on it, and mint as all my cars, The merc was a 17 plate, Think it was £39K at the time about 16 moths ago, The RS is good to get in and out off plenty high enough for my slightly disabled wife , Good car.

Same here Ju but I'm going to run the TT and RS3 tomorrow (if only to blow off the dust and cobwebs - as it is forecast a 'dry' day) and then I'll stand back and appraise the SQ5 in absolute honesty of what each offer for us and I doubt very much I'll find the SQ5 wanting, and I think you know what I mean. Back to that reported Stafford Audi RS day and it was the SQ5 that surprised us most, just surprised how long it took us to get one - and we're still 100% contented, happy top say.

But each to their own and for sure make sure you enjoy whatever and remember there ain't no pockets in shrouds :racer:

It's a nice collection to have John, any plans on the RS3 long term. Just so I know when to start saving

Lets just say I'm opening the book to offers, Ju; I'm thinking BLUEY will be sold this year with less than 15K from new:

For me, while I like 'em both, the RSQ3 is a lot LESS, just sayin' For us it was just a taller RS3 and we already had one of those, but even so we did like it, a cracking engine and gearbox. But still found the 2016 SQ5 more for us. Each to their own mind, you just gotta go try 'em all and decide which suits you best.

I know what your saying John, the SQ5 is more. It's based on a car higher up the range and that does show.
The engine is a peach and a highlight but also really annoys me, sometimes when setting off it just sounds like a rattly old diesel lol
Maybe I should just stick an RS badge on the back......problem solved

To me the RS is high miles, But it does look nice, And rarer than the SQ, The sound of the RS engine Is a nice sound (to me) But Im a old petrol head.

When it was first listed up it was down as just under 5k miles.
It was only after I viewed it the discrepancy came to light and someone had missed a 4 off!

I think it looks a bit boring in that dark blue. Seems to have most of the toys, though.

I like the colour, makes it rare and is the biggest attraction

Wife has a normal Q3 and it’s too small. Would rather have the SQ5 for the extra space.

Me too in any other car, diesel is the fuel of the devil lol[/QU Yeh mate the SQ5 is a good one (for diesel) LoL. I had to do the AMG badge , And I did, Then the RS badge Im doing that , real good car, pleased with all of it, When I had my SQ5 I thought were do I go from here ???? Such good cars , Hard to move on from, But if you have a itch ! scratch it . amg/rs.

Still sat on the fence tbh Alan.
Not chased up the blue one as the dealer never got back to me and I ain't chasing lol.
Harrogate have a misano one on the way, has a slightly better spec and half the miles. Not sure on the interior though as its Lunar silver same as my old S3.....nice at first but tiresome to keep up and wears quicker. Would prefer the quilted black as in my SQ though!

I went from SQ5(2) to RSQ3, my 1st RSQ3 had the quilted leather interior, was lovely too. I haven't changed my opinion over the last 4 years - the 8U RSQ3 is one of Audi's best kept secrets and to this day still makes me smile every time I press the button and that amazing engine barks a big hello to the world.

Looked at a floret silver RSQ3 performance today which is almost an exact copy of my SQ5 inside and out....proper uncanny lol
It is really nice but is missing the Bose and tech pack unfortunately.
It's still in prep so no test drive and a low ball part ex offer but definitely tempted!

Nice, but wheels all black would be better for me. what miles ??

Nice RSQ3 but, IMHO, the interior looks SO dated....I certainly couldn’t live with that! :puke2:

It's on 27k. The wheels do need a full refurb and a few other bits as it's not been through prep yet
I dont mind the wheels tbh as they go with the car imo.
Not sure I could live without the bose though tbh, the grills alone make a big difference.
We're a way off on any deal at present and not even driven one so it probably wont happen anyway!

C'mon, yer gotta be kiddin'...

JU SQ5

I know the 5-pot is lovely and all but hello the 2016 SQ5's TDi lump is similarly remarkable and over most UK roads/journeys far more usable for more of the time - for me/us anyway :racer:
