RS3 v A45s v M2 comp v Golf R

Agree with the ride quality as in my wife’s A200 the ride is super smooth, however I’m sure in the A34/45s it will be much more liken to the RS3 with a harder set-up. The wife’s car is a nice effortless and relaxing drive but then I can’t wait to get back into the RS3 for the speed, noise and an interior that is perfectly designed.
Sometimes, people need to realise that less is more.

Just go buy the Mercedes as l keep on saying to ya.....simple as that....different strokes for different folks...also l think your forgetting how bad the both the A35/A45s sound and ,also the A45s price for a 2 litre engined car

It wasn't that long ago you were adament you were getting a BMW next and no way would it be an Audi !
So don't keep preaching to me what to do as you change with the weather lol :tearsofjoy:
The A45 is expensie but have you seen the price of the RS Q3 / RS5 .. Audi are not afraid to charge either mate.
I dread to think what the new S3 and RS3 will cost.
I'm just getting that itch at the moment, 4 years is the longest I've ever had a car.
I'm not sure I can hang out another year for a new RS3 whereas the A45 is good to go now.
S3 is the only other car in the entire Audi range which appeals to me, so I won't commit to anything until we get to see what it is like in its final form.
The fact that I have been with Audi for 12 years is also making me nervous to defect to another brand, as each ot the 4 audi's I've had I have really enjoyed. I also hear quality issues with Merc. I've had a few issues with my Audi's but not many and the Dealer is ace, so that is all keeping me grounded atm.

Are you really bothered about having the newest car/plate? If not I’d have a look at used (petrol) S4’s or even RS4’s if you can cope with having an older piece of plastic numberplate...

You’d get a lot of car for your money on a 2-3 year old RS

I have considered it but I had an S5 prior to my RS3 and whilst I love the look of the coupe, those HUGE front doors are a PITA for me.
I garage my car every night and it was damn tight plus the same in car parks squeezing out and the RS5 sportback just feels too big for what I need.
That is where the RS3 was perfect - in proportions and being 5 door, the short front doors are ace.
I could consider a used face lift RS3 but I had a TTS after a TT and although the car different, it didn't feel different enough.
That is where a brand new platform car would feel 'brand new'.
I've got an itch to change, but I am not in a wild hurry either.
Maybe Audi will surprise and release the S3 and RS3 much quicker than usual.

See I’d think you’ll find it the same going from a RS3 to either a slower S3 that costs more or a marginally faster RS3 that costs a lot more... Do you not like the B8 RS4? RS4 saloon (or avant but I think saloon is nicer) would be top of my list if I was you, next step up from RS3 imo

As nice as those cars are - I do prefer the size of the S3/RS3.
When I got my S5 it was only a few extra cm on width than my previous car a TTS but boy it was noticeable going in the garage.
I'm sure I could get my head around a new S3 as it will be pretty close in terms of performace to my RS3.
I think once you get a car that will crack 62mph in under 5 seconds, it is plenty quick enough :)

Yeah that’s very true, anything 0-60 in under 5 is fast enough for our sh!t roads, that’s the exact reason I want a 4.2 V8 RS5, but that doesn’t work well with getting a dog

Do honestly think you’ll be disappointed with a new S3 over pfl RS3, the looks are just not even comparable imo

ha ha I reckon the dog would enjoy the passenger seat :)

Indeed the 4.2 litre v8 RS5 is a beautiful & mighty impressive car.

If the S3 impresses me it could be a contender but even the wife said I’d want to ‘upgrade’ lol hence the A45 (or RS3 next gen)

There is no rush other than me getting an itch to change ... everything comes to those who wait :icon thumright:

My heart is breaking in 2....for ya mate.....having to wait......and wait....not lol
And the reason l ain't going to buy a BMW is l ain't paying £5000 for a individual colour...As Audi do them half the price and l WILL NOT buy a mainstream off the shelf colour ....l will get another Audi used preferably if it's got a nice Exclusive paint...unlikely though...in that case l will buy new..in my own colour and one Audi won't try to copy hopefully

jeeeeeeesus £5k for exclusive paint that’s nuts cheeky ******* !
Thanks for the sympathy lol
I’d be surprised if you find a used car with a) paint you like & b) spec you like ... that would be a miracle especially for an exclusive paint.
I think you’ll be going new.
I don’t have an issue with the standard paints though, I’d sooner pump the money into spec or model or even a holiday or watch lol

Chap I know has a 7 series in Pure Metal Silver. That's almost 7 grand!

Haha me too mate, just need to convince myself it’s worth the argument

My Mrs isn’t a fan of anything unless it’s brand new, even a 5.0 V10 RS6 isn’t good enough because it’s old maybe in a few years I’ll be looking for a younger model, car or Mrs you can decide what I mean

Done a 6 star hotel in September there ...nice as it was...nothing to really show for it,so I'll settle for Egypt again now it's back on.
Audi approved used showroom is just down the road from me...so I'll keep my eyes peeled on there for a few months prior to time to change...my current car will be a hard act to follow, l ain't impressed with pc like interior technology more interested in how a car looks and goes

100% agree. Although I'll also admit the next gen Audi a3 isn't far behind Merc's A class for an outright ugly interior with no integration or flow within the cabin.

Wish VAG would focus on their interior being more like the big brother Porsche.

So simple yet so perfect.

Have you read the RSQ3 reviews, it’s being absolutely slated for price, ride, finish v’s it’s rivals from Alfa and Porsche. It’s one of the tackiest looking cars out there.

Evo gives it 4.5 out of 5, but Top Gear and What Car who don’t like fast, firm-riding SUVs slated it, as they did with the X3M for similar reasons.

At least the X3 is a good looking car, bit more class.

What I like about the RS3, previous 4, 5 and RS6 was that they were very much sleeper cars, the latest generation of Audi RS SUV's models are so in your face and a bit too try hard.

Audi still make some very nice cars, TT, A5 variants, RS4 is still pretty subtle, not sure on the latest RS6, the rear bumper is a bit of a mess.

Absolutely love my 2015 rs3 interior, I’m not a techie guy so love how the screen disappears and just the right amount of buttons and switches all in the right place and position so your not distracted by the main objective, keeping both eyes on the road in front.

Couldn’t agree more, Porsche’s interiors are absolutely spot on, everything where it needs to be matched to a fantastic car to.

I know looks are subjective but to my eyes the X3 is fugly. Colleague has an X3M and it's a little better but by no means a looker.

Considering the RS interior is based on what a 2012 model car (or is it 2013 the 8v was released?) it doesn't hold up bad at all to the newer generation of stuff (if you just ignore the screen res, and a non tech pack is shockingly poor).

My folks have just taken delivery of an A35, I kind of do and don't like the interior on it.

My biggest pet hate is the swath of piano black plastic along the central tunnel bit that then extends up to all around the triple centre air vents, just looks like way too big a chunk of shiny plastic there.

The screens are nice, but after driving round an A4 with VC, and having used the A35 for a bit it's not something I miss stepping back into my PFL with it's traditional dials. Almost like everything has gone too gimmicky now as there's not much else you could do since interiors have gotten a lot nicer and better quality in more everyday models.

But the UI on the system is nice and snappy, decent quality screens make a huge difference to the experience as well.

Overall nice car with a nice interior, bit too jazzy for my liking though :)

On the outside though it looks positively dull/understated, depending on what you want.

Grey, non-appearance pack or whatever they call it so no spoilers, only way you'd know it was something reasonably special other than a couple of badges is the silver 4 pots up front (at least they put proper calipers on them unlike on the S3/Golf R, I know they aren't needed but they just look so much better).
