Ok chaps,
something to ponder on now for a few weeks.
As a regional Rep one thing that is allways in the back of my mind is the question of a mini-meet.
Now i'm not talking anything massive, quite the opposite really , what about a B7 A4/S4 mini meet up.
All variants included so cabs / avants / saloons etc , but just B7 chassis .
It would be a good opportunity to put faces to cars and exchange info etc, have a drink( light non alcho) and just have a good few hours with other like minded B7 owners.

I'm thinking during the summer for obvious reasons..lol , would also give me time to get my old bus sorted.
If I can find a suitable location , and not a local pub/business park or retail park , in the countryside would anyone be up for it.
My thinking is this, a central location not in a town etc would be a good drive out to start with , then the meet and a drive home again, get some miles on country backroads and let the cars breath...
Maybe a small airfield or similar venue, i'll need to look into it more , but hey , must be worth a go chaps.

If I can get an approx idea on numbers that would be start.
If it looks to be doable i'll make this sticky, drop me a lin if your interested.

will add the thread to the event / meets section aswell .

cheers chaps

Rob

I have forgotten all you rs4 B7 owners, but to start with I need to get some idea on numbers hence why I didn't include rs4 B7's but bear with me chaps.

Certainly be interested, but location dependent

Same on location and folk must promise not to laugh at the cosmetic condition of paintwork and hellishly scuffed alloys lol.

Caffeine and machine is a very popular venue and quite central.

We had a B5 meet there not too long ago, will always be a nice selection of bikes and cars

I’d say it’s the midlands equivalent of ace cafe just not as famous but it is very popular.

Their instagram give a better idea of what the venue is like.

even if you don’t choose it as a venue, it’s still somewhere to pop over too if your ever over this way, Sunday’s are usually the busiest day but they are open every day of the week.

It says people who accelerate hard when leaving are not welcome back, how else are we going to hear the noises! I guess we just got to stand there holding our dicks all day instead lol

I'm trying to find a location that we can have a quick blast aswell, legally and safely hence why I was thinking a small airfield or similar but i'm looking into numerous options.
The only down side is finding a location that suits all , or nearly all as which ever way you work it someones going to have a longish drive .

What do you mean by quick blast? As in a run on a runway or track? Or just some nice roads?

I missed that bit to be fair.

And @Ricky Burrows we can go to C&M and if your worried I’ll hold yours if you hold mine so we don’t feel lonely :tearsofjoy:

Somewhere with a runway or track if possible that could be used for a few hours, a bit to look into yet so early days.

I’m up for this.

I’m not massively an active member but I wouldn’t mind a drive out to see some other B7’s for inspiration!

Thanks!

I’ll have a word with a mate of mine. He used to be a moderator for a car forum a fair few years back and he arranged a big disused area for a meet. The owners were awesome and laid back and they only charged a few hundred for the day. I’d be happy to put something towards it. They even sorted a “drag” strip for some of the lads!!

From memory it was about 7 miles out of Leicester if that’s any good?

Was in Sheffield yesterday , tad under 200 mile one way .
Still working on location, ideally central somewhere but i'm mindfull of distance for members based further away. One of the main problems is that wherever the location is it wont be ideal for everyone.

I’ve heard back about that location and it’s a no go. It’s been sold to some travellers so it’s going to be a no.

I’m in Doncaster but I wouldn’t mind an hour or 2 travel. Could even get a little convoy for the northern lot?

If petrol was only 50p a gallon then that would be a massive help on the distance front as it would be a cheap day out.
Unless your in an oil buner a 400 mileround trip is going to be at least 3/4 of a tank of petrol even more in a V8 , so will be waving bye bye to £70 to start with.

Yeah very true, I didn’t think about the big engine boys for some reason!

Was more thinking it’s not too far from the M1 which might of been a bit of a help.

Back to google maps now then

If you cheapen it for some you'll be making it more expensive for others. Swings and roundabouts.

Though Santa Pod might be a little too far for me, anywhere in England is going to mean an overnight stay and beers afterwards, so won't be cheap. Prob 300ish between fuel, accommodation and a night out. A few extra quid in fuel doesn't really make a difference, just the time spent driving.

Indeedy Alex.:icon thumright:, nice easy run up yesterday with a very quiet m25 and M1.
Well I can honestly say it's the first time in many years for a daytime run that I've done that sort of run on those road with such light traffic .

No stopping either way, M1 has micky mouse 50mph for 30 miles but it was still clear and problem free.
managed to get Average 37mpg for a lot of the trip.

Happy days for now.:icon thumright:

Seems to be a lot of speed cams around your neck of the woods too, I had to put my captain sensible hat on again.

Yep most of the M1 near my way has the gantry speed cameras makes it a PITA when your trying to make progress!

Not bad mpg either for a long run, i get 40mpg if in careful with the noisy pedal!
