Dents in the sills and skid plates

Bought a C7 the other week and to my horror, the previous owner had tried to lift the car with the jack in the middle of the car...

So my question is this, can you remove the plates and knock out the dents or do you need to replace them?

Check underneath for securing nuts, if present then you can remove & replace no doubt.

Assuming that damage is to metal and not bolt on plastic skirts it's a question for a body shop.

I expect they will cut out that section and weld in bit but they might be able to knock something out of what you have.

Standard rules apply... Get recommendations, Get a few quotes, ask what process they are using and the time they are spending for your money so you can estimate if their price is fare.
Cheapest might not be worst but you get what you pay for. Talking to them and seeing other work will help you decide what good for your budget and requirements.

I would be very surprised if the body shop could could make the metal look good again. Best off keeping an eye on ebay for an Allroad being parted out.

I hate giving cars to garages, as they have ZERO idea of where the jacking points are.. Just stick a jack under and lift the car.

That's good advice, thanks. If I can't manage it myself then I'll certainly be looking around for a bodyshop solution.

Yeah if the price is right, I'll also be looking into spares... Got to keep my eye on the ball though. I i imagine they get taken pretty quick.

Great link to those adaptors... Feel a little annoyed that I even have to consider paying money to protect my car from people that should know better!
