2019 Maps...

Some, mostly optional, kit uses data from the car sat nav so some functionality is lost if it thinks you are driving across a muddy field!

Thank you cuke2u for flagging. I have some questions as I did not get this to work.

1. Has anyone got this to work on an 2020 Audi A4 or other car with the new touchscreen MMI?

2. Is it OK for the USB to formatted as FAT32?

The update takes up 15.5GB on a 32GB US drive and looks as such

In the 2020 A4 I plugged into the following USB slot below the parking camera button:

2. Does the car indicate in any way it recognises the USB?

I did not see anything listed in Connected devices. Should I?

3. I tried to update from the Software Update/Search for Updates screen. Is this the right place.

Alas for me it did not detect an update. I'm not having much luck with the MMI Navigation Plus system in my new S4!

Did it find them on line? At the very least that would allow you to update the uk section

I downloaded these from the https://my.audi.com site from the Features section.

Your original download looks fine, but the older version of the mmi allowed you to download straight to the car by selecting 'on line' rather than USB (or whatever) when nominating the source of the update.

16GB ,map updates over 4G to the car at least once a year (included with Audi as part of the 3 year subscription to the infotainment service). That's quote a lot of data. Audi must have a good deal with a 4G network for that. Out of interest do we know which network(s) they use?

From the web site the only option is to download the (Java) installer. Perhaps Audi's data charges were getting too expensive!

For those of us with the SD Card based MMI it’s £310 for a Map Update :-(

So we don't get any free map updates at all? Unless we pay we're stuck with the map that comes out of the factory?
I'm afraid so, and no I wasn't aware when I purchased the car either.

Whatever model of Audi, sd sat navigation has always had to purchase map updates for as long as I've known Audi....

For those who have updated to the 2020 maps, may I ask what the resulting navigation database version is in the MMI Settings/Version Information is (as I assume this is the line item that indicates which map you have) rather than
- Software
- HMI build version
- Media driver
- Gracenote database
- Hardware
- Software version
(shown below).

You might be right. Please could you share your navigation database version? We can then see if it is the same format as ours which is V03959806PK_P0220_EU_2019.05

If they have totally different formats, coding then perhaps they are not comparable but this would involve Audi maintaining two different versions.

It might explain why your car couldn't 'see' the update.

That said I have a similar device to the car's sat nav where the cartography is provided by a third party and is used over a range of manufacturers' kit so the data can be independent to the hardware.

If I get a moment will see what the reference number is on my car but please note that the garage door appears to have been designed to dump rainwater on whoever opens it!

I can't update my maps anymore as I've hit the limit....
