Hello Folks,

Looking for a set of LED bulbs to replace my fog light bulbs Audi A3 2015 S line Sportback are any traders still selling these?

thanks in advance

Sandy

One thing that worries me about fitting non standard bulbs is that the acrylic cover might go opaque after a period of time as can happen with headlamps. No one yet has had the car long enough to find out...
yes u need to check perfectly that rubber covers whole hole when changing .. no air must go inside
but once u turn the lights the heat will take care of moisture / opaque anyway :)

When you drive in thick fog and turn the fogs on it actually makes it worse seen, like when you turn the full beams on, it does noting. In all my cars I don't use them.

Dave you make a good point here on colour, if you get a picture up of the new bmw x5 all the fog lights now fitted to these are led, they are white, they must of done there r & d before coming up with this surely? The 6 and 5, also have the led version. I upgraded my cooper s to the oem drl kit from mini and the fogs are now led and not halogen how they used to be, il get some pictures for you.

how can u say that rubbish?? I have fogs and upgraded to LED very nice and white ... and what it does it perfectly lights up sides of the road .. I can perfectly see where are ends on the road from left and right ... of course at night ... especially in pitch black no lampposts..

.....but they are fog lights for use in fog - not driving lights.

Your not from the UK I am guessing? We have strict rules around the use of fog lights here.

Yes I am in uk but from EU and ABSOLUTELY there are no strict rules here when it comes to illuminating the roads during the day or night.
Firstly the strict rules are actually IN EU. Here I was surprised (when I came here 12 years ago and still law not changedl ) many drivers during the day in old cars (before 2013 year cars) NEVER turn the the DRLs lights ON (as they don'thave automatic or newer car) which in EU you would be stopped and fined 50 euro. So DRL MUST be turned on all the time during day. Here we don't have to for sme reason...
Secondly the german car manufacturers (and then rest followed) after 2013 year started making cars that headligts DRLs will automatically turn on with ignition even if the switch is in position 0 that drivers will not get ticket every so often because it is very likely that many drivers forgetting to turn the DRLs ON.
Thirdly my Audi car is equipped with AUTO headlights (picture below) which MEANS not only for main beam but ALL exterior lights.
If I have it switched to AUTO it turns the main beam automatically according to the ambient light conditions. When is dusk or in tunnel. Fourthly, what you probably don't know is that the AUTO feature controls EVEN fog lights and depending what you have setup in MMi as well so mine a3 DOES turns my fog lights automatically depending of weather conditions and natural light conditions.. Coincidently, yesterday I was getting in car at night and there was very fine rain going on think it's called dews and I unlocked the car and lights came on INCLUDING fog lights.. I was really surprised when I got car.. First days I was like ; who turned the fogs on? So it does auto turn on, not only main beam... And am not sure but it may turn on even rear red "fog" lights it basically increases red light to use obviously in fog BUT mainly in downpour or spray when driving on highway, as you see better car in front when u need to turn windscreen wipers very fast.. When you see almost nothing...

...and LED bulbs are illegal!
"Led bulbs are illegal" really..?
Are you sure? So all those new and newest ONLY LED manufactured cars must be stopped and get of the road, right.. That's what you wanted to say?
Aaah weel :concern: FACEPALM
THOSE cars with fog lights manufaced is normal and normal to use but you don't know that reflecting mirror inside the fog lights are NOT reflected straight BUT to the sides of road leftand right, so they won't dazzle opposite car coming...
There seems to be conflict between german car policy and always britain messing policy as they are to cinic and wants to have own rules, so german manufacturers simply deleted and stopped making "low profile fog lights in late 2016 and early 2017 and fog lights has been transferred into headlights so extra light is on and it is directed or" dipped" downwards" when needed.. And my friend it is an LED ;)

I’d like to think I know how our vehicle work given my day job but thanks for the lesson :)

suggest you revisit the U.K. Highway Code.

This is from a large UK supplier of bulbs. Fitting LED replacement bulbs into a housing not designed specifically for them is illegal in the UK.

https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/faqs.html
I guess there will me many many motorists banned stopped or fined or whatever as LED bulbs are very popular.. and many ppl buying konversion kits and installing them.. And you know if I have ALREADY LED headlights I don't think there is any illegality to put LED fogs... I don't have any extreme luminosity just same as xenon... but much whiter .. I would say mine LED DRLs are much stronger luminosity but less white..

EDIT: here is your website which showed me what fog LED bulbs I can buy :)

Yes definitely there is bible about it and I do exactly what it says : ''You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet). You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves ''(see Rule 236). Law RVLR regs 25 & 27
never turn fogs during day as I mostly leave switch to 0 or AUTO ...

Peto,
Fogs are not controlled by the main switch, neither O or Auto
well of course by ambient sensor.. but am pretty sure sensor will be off if switch is on 0 position.. I will have to try it some point but it is hard to test as when is dark you have to obviously turn main beam either to auto or main beam icon position you can't drive at night or dark with DRLs only on..

Right,.. we are talking about the fog lights are we?? have a look at the two switches to the left on your lighting unit pic you posted, unless you have a completely different car to mine, one controls the front fogs and one controls the rears.Neither will come on unless you have the headlights on dipped or main beam.

...and don’t come on automatically as cars can’t differentiate fog from other types of weather.

don't worry I know I have there those two switches .. every audi does.. am not blind... tho .. of course I switching them my self but I mentioned to DJ Alix that when I got car in summer the fogs turned on by itself ... not often but they did I said in post '' who turned the fogs on'' .. that's why .. I remeber I had position to AUTO obviously now am not that surprised .. they came on yesterday .. and there was drizzle at that time
i have 2015 a3 tdi 2.0 quattro sportback
