Hi guys, I've had my Audi s3 8P about 3 months now. Was just driving home and the coolant temp started to go above 90, was literally half a mile away from home so thought I'd try get it there, then the red low oil pressure sign come up.

Just pulled over, turned the car off and let the fan run, which has just gone off.

Car has been modded and since owning the car over topped it up twice to required amount with the correct oil.

If anyone can help as to what it could potentially be that would be great. Thanks in advance

If no oil circulation I wonder if this is raising temps, oil pump, but I don't want to speculate & scare, get it scanned & imho don't use it as oil pressure issues are serious.

Thanks for the reply. As in get a diagnostics computer plugged in to it to take fault readings?

Yes, it'll need scanned to see if there are any stored faults on the ECU. Then you can go from here to fix your issues.

Quick update: turns out my brother in law had a really good VCDS and come up with absolutely no errors. Live graphs seemed okay as well. Let the car idle all the way up to temp as well and no issues.

It's due a service in the next 9 days so I'm wondering if that and the car having slightly low oil is the issue. Very strange

Update: just went for a 20/30 minute drive. All was fine. Coolant temp was sitting at 90 as usual, kept checking the oil temp on the dash and as soon as it went over 102 the coolant temp gauge started to go above 90 so I'm now pulled over waiting for the fan to run and do its thing

100deg is not that hot for engine oil. A well known cause of low oil pressure is a blocked oil pick up pipe, caused by a Long Life service regime in its early years. Old gloopy oil can accumulate around the oil strainer and sump and a lack of oil being pumped around the engine. Good oil circulation is also important to engine cooling.
My suggestions are remove the sump and clean or change the oil strainer, refill with fresh oil and filter, add one off the oil treatment fluids then do another oil and filter change a couple of hundred miles later.
Check for coolant system leaks and maybe a system flush. If you’re due for a new cam belt fit a new water pump as well.
Are there any audible signs of noisy valve gear knocking bearings etc.?

The cluster shown analogue coolant temp gauge is configured with a level of hysteresis in which it will stay at a nominal 90 degree and and only change above that once the difference is large.

Update: thermostats not opening. Needs a ****** good service. £616 all in. Parts, labour etc.

So the cars getting a full service as well as the thermostat replacement.

My concern is the spark plugs. The car has the R8 coil pack so are the usual S3 spark plugs compatible/okay to use or should particular ones be put back in?

Stick with std oem plugs, good for 500 bhp. R8 coil packs are just decorative (red)

I would be using NGK BKR7EIX rather than OEM plugs. Buy from a reputable source as there have been fakes on Ebay. I run these in my S3 at stage 2+ and in my tuned Mk 4 Golf 1.8T

Sorry old thread - did thermostat fix the issue?
