Not much in it then. But good to see them being driven side by side.

What we don't know is what tyres they were both on, that'll make a difference. And fuel loads for both. But glad to see they dyno'd them as well to get a true picture.

I'd like to see this comparison done with the S3 though as there's a 10hp drop on paper.

My 67 plate facelift S3 would have left my 2015 S3 sportback for dead my current car feels a good bit more powerful and the gearbox is far more responsive
As for the RS thing l dont care,as its just another drumed up idea from Carwow to acheive as many Youtube hits as possible and they where both sportback erm....

I really don't see how 10 bhp can make that much difference TBH? Might be a tiny bit quicker. The map might move the torque about to make it feel quicker, but I bet the reality is nothing much in it.

We need Matt Watson on the case. TBF Carwow is probably the best car review site out there ATM. Good reviews with some good humour chucked in to make them lighthearted. And all the better with the Carwow stick of truth.

If I want something more slick and serious, then I'll go to Carfection.

WHITE IS ALWAYS....Slower.................lol
Nah...There's some serious air resistance going on with your 'Voodoo blue'...PFL S3's are much much faster regardless of colour..White being the fastest of course......Works for the Nasa rockets and they ain't slow:whistle2: haha

Gearbox plus 10bhp having owned both pfl and fl for numerous years As soon as l had driven my fl car out the forecourt l knew it was far more responsive ...and Matt Watson is a Fanny....at best

Isn't the point here for most people most of the time it makes no bladdy difference?
Just buy the car and enjoy it for what it is, the next gen won't come with a sports exhaust at all I reckon so enjoy the 'good' times whilst they last.

Gearbox and maybe a different torque curve, but there's absolutely no way you can feel 10hp.

The Mat Watson comment is unnecessary

I've owned a facelift S3 and ran against a pre facelift S3 a few times... If pulling half a cars length or so is classed as 'left for dead' then so be it!:tearsofjoy:

Another video, this time RS3 vs A45 vs M2 Comp.

RS3 does terrible. They admit on not the best fuel but even so, it still seems to launch very poorly.

Already posted and debated in much detail @Doc ! which you also contributed to that thread.

old news and we could see from the CarWow test for pre post WLTP cars are near identical, yes the launch is slightly softer but the OPF car makes up for it mid range making the 1/4 mile the same.

The A45s is certainly rapid on launch but I haven’t seen any figures below 3.9 tested whereas we’ve seen 0-60 draggy times on this very forum as low as 3.6 for the OPF RS3, read into that test what you like, all 3 cars are fast but I don’t believe they did the RS3 justice and easy to knock the RS3 on a biased test in favour of the new ‘king’ of the mega hatches!

I actually posted the original video to this thread a few weeks back and that has been well debated also, another duplicated thread :gaehn:

Admin, can they be merged?

Apart from the sunroof. Hence my earlier question.
I think about 55kg, with 1 driver being about 50kg heavier.

Good to see though that the swopped cars to take the latter into account, unusually a fair test from CarWow!

To be properly fair they should have weighed the cars as well as dyno them.

Well yes that would have been even better, weight, amount of fuel and even tyres as it’s well documented that the standard tyres on the new RS3’s aren’t great versus say Michelin Pilot Sports.

Other variables like the life of the cars is going to be hard to compare, the newer car could still be quite tight and ‘loosening’ up whereas the older car could have had a rough few years.

End of the day there’s little in it and doubt you’d notice as a daily driver, as summed up at the end of the video the older car had a better launch, newer car stronger mid range and older car stronger at the very higher speeds.

All in all a pretty fair test and interesting results especially with the newer OPF car fairing very well when expectations were it would fair much worse.

How much weight does a sunroof add?

Who cares, we buy this motor for what it is.
Fully loaded with optional extras or none at all it is still the same car.

Nardo is the fastest due to it not being weighed down by a coat of paint
