Audi A4 B9 Active Lane Assist retrofit

What "sensors" are you talking about? Where did you find the steer on the VCP requirement?

Kufatec sell the kit with a coding dongle, that won't be doing any VCP type coding.
+1 :)

Vcds Hex-Net should also be able to do the basic setting.

Hi...

I want to retrofit lane assist, my car is audi a5 2017 b9 tdi quattro and i have following extras in my car. Multifunction steering wheel with cut bottom part, cruise with max speed limiter, led matrix with cornering lights, automatic high beams, rain sensor, no acc. I wonder if 4m0907219mg or 4m0907129ja is suitable to my car or can you help me to find proper column switch to my car? Currently there is over 40 different column switches available. My original column switch is 4m0907129 ha

If you've got the camera (if you have auto high beams then you should have) you can retrofit lane assist without changing any hardware. You just won't be able to turn it off on the fly (without turning traction control off, which will do it) you can change it from Early to Late which changes how much it controls the car though

Hi !

Thank you for your comments. I have camera and coding lanes assist active is not an issue. I want to get column switch in place in order to activate / deactivate the lane assist on the fly with a button as in original. So this is the reason I am looking for correct column switch for my car. Earlier in this thread someone mentioned 4m0907129mg was correct for his car and I would like to understand if this is same switch is suitable for my car. As said earlier switch type need to have support all the features I have in my car.

Hi !

I saw earlier that username MK2 Golf 24 had some information available to decode proper column switch. Any comments MK2, can you help me in here?

Just code it with obd11, vcds or Vcp.

Without the steering column, lane assist will be permanently active.

I do not have an OBD11 or any experience with this unfortunately :(. I was looking for a plug and play kind of solution, in this case would you suggest paying for the Kufatec dongle?

Also I understand, from reading this thread, that the lane assist will be permanently active. However what are the implications of this, if any?

P.S Thanks for your super quick reply!

Do you have an Android phone and a tiny bit of tech knowhow?
In which case OBD11 with an app isn't much more than plug and play.
I have mine on all of the time and 99% of the time love having it on all of the time so am happy to take the 1%, some people hate it. Some people do a mix of motorway and good country roads, it works infinitely better on motorway. On back roads around me the lines aren't clear enough for it to work anyway.
Edit - also where are you as there's the potential of people willing to help out!

I pulled the plug and just ordered a nextgen OBD11 from their website as I saw they have an app for active lane assist which doesn't require any coding from my end! Hoping this will work :)

I'm not expecting it to work like a tesla haha, I want it to work at least on the motorway. I have never infact used any lane assistance, do you mind telling me how this actually works and benefits you?

You can set it to Early or Late - on early it'll nudge you to the centre of the lane constantly, on late it just pushes you back into the lane if it realises you're getting close to the edge.
Basically I can put a light touch on the steering wheel (it tells you off if you don't put any input in after around 10 seconds anyway) and on most motorways it just keeps you in the lane, it feels a bit like a road camber taking the steering wheel, but it just keeps you centered within the lane. As I said, I like it, some people hate it.
If you don't have it also enable high beam assist at a minimum.

Great, so it should steer the car to keep it in lane right? - Quite looking forward to it on long motorway journeys.

I have matrix leds and high beam assist is on I think.

Also was wondering if this doing this will come up as a modification (I think its called TD1?) if I take it to Audi dealership? I am going to use the kufatec traffic sign dongle as well as enabling active lane assist using OBD11.

I've never heard of anybody have an issue with Audi, and lots of people have enabled this.
I want Traffic Sign Recognition as well, but can't afford the Kufatec Dongle, so trying to get it done locally with VCP.

How about it's use in poor conditions such as rain or fog? - Because without the steering column stalk or changing it in OBD11 it cannot be turned off.

Basically it'll tell you if it's seeing the left and right lane markings, if it can't see them then it disables itself.
If you get desperate then turning off traction control will disable it, but also disables cruise control and speed limiter.

I have a 2017 A4 and was hoping to retrofit ACC, auto-dimming headlights and lane assist. Anyone know how much this’ll cost and what I need to do this?
I have very little experience with this stuff but am hoping to make a little project out of this.

Possibly thousands, why not buy a car that has all of that and save yourself the hassle?

I bought the car with what I could afford at the time - and I love the car. Would like to just upgrade the car as I go rather than buying a brand new car. Would be nice to get an answer rather than judgement

ACC will probably cost thousands and require a specialist, paintwork, bodywork, all-sorts.
Auto-dimming headlights, do you mean Auto-high beam rather than the matrix lights which actually dim and change? If so then it'll cost about £60 for an OBD11 dongle with the app.
Lane assist - same £60 dongle will do it.
This is providing you have Audi Pre-Sense, which you should do if it's a UK car.

Got my OBD dongle to activate lane assist and also Kufatec dongle for traffic sign recognition!

I was wondering if doing these will cause a TD1? - I am going to take my car to Audi to take a look at the centre speaker which crackles a lot this week. I know TD1 could invalidate warranty in some cases, is this true?

No evidence of anybody having their warranty invalidated because of any changes they've done.

I used a Kufatec dongle just under 2 years back for the road sign reconigtion and my dealership has never said anything

Oh that's good! I'm just taking it in for speakers anyway so should be fine I think.

Btw is there a instruction booklet for the kufatec? - I got mine and it does't have anything lol. I just know to turn on ignition plug and then remove?

You'll find some instructions on how 'I' did it here. If you're unsure, send them an email...

Used the OBD11 today to activate lane assist and got all sorts of errors in my VC against pre sense, main beam assist, active lane assist, etc! :(. Any help please? - I tried clearing faults and that didn't work either.

Did you backup first?
I did not, never knew how to. But I reverted the changes using the app, everything seems to be ok again.

Not sure how to get active lane assist working using the app without any errors. Had 200 credits from christmas offer, now down the drain lol

You can get free credits, about five free daily by watching some ads, go to your profile, then wallet and click upon the + sign. Which year is your car and have you auto main beam?

Not worried about the credits haha, hopefully will get them back by asking them.

I have a 65 plate, so 2016. I have matrix LED with auto main beam assist.

I was hoping to get active lane assist working with the apps in OBD11 but I think not :(

2016 model requires long coding and also one of the steps (sorry I can't remember which one) skipping. It should be in the thread cuke2u linked to.

What I meant was the steering clock sensors need resetting so the steering wheel now knows that it has another button to listen to.
I have just activated Lane Assist on my car, and I would like to also change steering column with the one with Lane Assist button.
Does anyone have any info how this reset is done? What exactly needs to be done? I have VCP.

If you remove the steering wheel then the alignment needs resetting. This can't be done with VCP.

What about with Odis? Is this a simple selection in Odis or any additional special equipment is needed?

Maybe also a direct question: if I go to Audi dealer, they just replace steering stalk in my car with genuine Audi used steering stalk with Lane Assist (all other is the same as my original stalk, so only Lane Assist button added), they reset alignment and LA button will function? Or anything else needs to be done.
