He certainly did. Probably greasy roads combined with a bend that catches you out sometimes even when you know it. Anyone losing it coming the other way can end up in a bungalow.

Is it just me or is there an abnormal amount of car accidents some fatalities making the news at the moment, and other accidents involving youngish people and kids etc or is it just that you (me ) notice them more at this time of year .

Know it well lived in the village for 10yrs.
Easy to get caught out in the dark if you don’t know the road!
At least Burgoynes recovery only had to cross the road to get there lol.
