Next model A3

The problem for me was that the switches were obviously still the same style or even the exact same as the ones from my 1995 MX5! block squares just stuck somewhere, all out of sight, no thought gone into it. This was the CX3 though so maybe worse due to the model downgrade from the CX5. Yes, tech was good, lane notification or whatever its called, adaptive cruise etc etc.... All the mod cons. But it was like a 1990s car interior but with new tech. Really strange contrast. The idrive style MMI was pants. so rubbish. plastic feel, controls where just all over the place. I think that's what we pay for at the end of the day. Ergonomics. Sat in the A1 again yesterday, I get what everyone is talking about though. but the general feel and quality is so high compared to toher brands. The lower down plastics are harsh, but the upper level ones are better. This was an S-line model though.

Interesting, I wonder if similar dials in the CX3 as in mine, really don’t think mine are bad at all but they are noticeably cheaper in places but so is the car.

May be I’m in the honeymoon period with mine, things like car play manage to keep it current.

Does your Mazda have the stupidly tiny rear boot button? Didnt find it 1st time in the whole time i was with it! Right next to the reverse camera, that by the way was disabled but to non-activation, the button can't have been any bigger than 2cm by 1cm big!

You're right though, a cheaper car so we have to expect less. I wonder if Audi car prices are going up in line with inflation etc... but other cars arent? making the prices seem even more expensive?

Not really a car competing with the A3 though is it?

True it isn't, but the Mazda 3 is an A3 competitor. Since the CX 3 is based on the 3 then it's all relevant really! :icon thumright:

The boot release in the mx is tucked up above the number plate where the license plate lights are, unless somebody told you about it you’d struggle to find it.

I think initially it was placed there not to spoil the bumper lines but now the camera is in the middle anyway.

The cx is a crossover, hence the cx bit, with a completely different interior to the Mazda 3. So no comparison...

Same manufacturer, there will no doubt be common parts and materials so yes it is relevant. You don’t half come across as a right know it all at times.

I expect that’s where the Audi rings will be positioned.
Twas meant to be tongue in cheek ;-) , obviously it's a blanking cover to hide the rings so we can't tell who manufacturers the car lol...

It might be one of those cars that looks better in the flesh than it does on a photo. But god that look ugly.

Hopefully Audi will be the next A/S3 Saloon right, as they did the current version. Both that and the A35 AMG Saloon over this monstrosity any day.

I saw a 3 series (or is it 4 series) M sport Coupe yesterday in a car park & I must say it did look flipping good.
I would take some convincing to go back to a 2 door car though - but visually it did look look superb.

You are probably right, about in person, but I quite like the looks

Me too, of course there is no escaping that the A3 saloon is a difficult act to follow but I doubt if Audi will change the external looks by much at all. It's the interior we all need to see. Now that the new Octavia has also been presented Audi appear to be rather slow off the mark...

Well looking at that, my main dealers view of the new a3 looking like a seat Leon seems correct.

Is this the main dealer that is trying to sell you a current A3? :smirk:

I bet they won't be saying that when the new one becomes available to order!

Nope, same dealer that had already handed me my keys & I was taking it back to get a leak checked. Also the same salesmen who is leaving Audi in the next couple weeks to go travelling.
Let’s be honest looking at that very small image of the front end he’s not wrong is he?

I really don't think there is enough there to make any judgement TBH. I bet when you see the whole thing it will still be unmistakably an A3.

There was a bit more in another image, but then Motors plastered their logo all across it:
Audi a3 and audi s3 spy shots

I haven't seen one in the metal yet, but I'm tempted too from seeing it in video reviews.

I get why the purists BMW owners have lost their poo about the new one being front wheel drive but as for the styling and bigger grill up front, I think BMW have nailed it, the styling has people divided massively.

The interior is worlds apart from my Mrs 17 plate M-Sport 1 series (for the better that is) but to be fair I like the previous generation interior too. I find the driving position in the previous 1er much more comfortable than my A3 saloon.

Having seen an M140i in the flesh in blue, personally wasn't to my taste with the shape they've gone for. But I'm sure for others it'll suit them

I’ve driven the new M135i at my local BMW, and the car is one hell of a beast. Perfect road handling and responsive on throttle. I was thinking about going for one of them but the inside of cat put me off, as it looks cheap compared to the 3 series. They have some stunning colours in it too. The one I drove was blue but they had an individual grey one inside the showroom.

I saw one yesterday and thought it looks horrendous, just like those GT versions of the 3/4/5 series. Also, it’s f**king massive!?! Looks just like an X1/X2 and it’s supposedly a hatchback

The blue is nice.

My BE is grey so won’t be getting another grey car, either blue or white for me, possibly red.

All colours look nice with the high gloss shadow line, M-Sport pack, 19 inch wheels and a panoramic roof.

Alright angry.

It wouldn't do if we were all the same would it.

It’s actually shorter than the previous one, but wider and a bit taller.

Personally for me I think white is nice but it’s been in for far too long now, and way too common. My ideal colour has always been black but after having two black Audis in a row, I’m fed up of the upkeep as it’s dirty straight after a wash. I would have liked the new S3 but don’t want to wait until end of next year or early 2021 to buy one.

I’d love to respond and say that I’m actually quite calm but that’s what an angry person would say lol

I didn’t see it for very long but enough to know that I think it’s never going to be for me, I know a couple diehard beamer fans and they all agree it’s ugly, seems to be a 80-20 split of hate vs like

Hahaha.. I'm a member of a 1 series forum and when the new model was announced certain users were in absolute melt down!

The thing for me now is i've had a few A3s and i need a change, a new model A3 isn't going to cut it.. well it will do until i've had it 6 months, then the itch will be back.

Black would be the number one choice but for the reason you have just said (keeping it clean) i won't entertain it.

Also agree on white.. thing is the blue will be common as muck too and red is like marmite.. (i like marmite).

I can imagine lol

If I was you I’d be tempted to go for a new A4, big bigger but a much nicer car inside and out, or even a 16/17/18 plate S4 if the budget goes that far
