After some advice please. My A4 just passed 40,000 and it’s saying I need a cam belt change. Totally get they need changing but 40k seems a bit early when other car makers are 60-80k.
I really don’t want to have to fork out £600 before Christmas if It’s not urgent. Is it worth holding off for a month and would I save money going to a trusted local garage rather than Audi?

Go to an indie Audi specialist. You should get cam belt and water pump change for less than £400 inc labour. I paid £375 a year or so back.

I believe 5 years/60k miles is recommended changing cycles?

It's not just mileage, its age. 60k for 4 cylinder cars and 80k for 6 cylinder on or around 5 years old is a good rule of thumb. As mentioned do the water pump and probably the auxilliary belts too. Don't ask Audi service reception for an informed answer, they shuffle paper and will look as confused as you.

40K seems too early, I did mine well after that! Mine was under £400 from an Indie.
