Was there a report where this happened to a chap in Australia as well
 
Looks like too much torque being generated low down, I have seen that pattern of destruction on a few engines (non Audi) with over aggressive tunes on stock components.

These daza engines may be making more power out of the box and it cost less to make them more powerful, but I can’t help but think they are nowhere near as robust than the old CZGB units....let’s not even mention the tinny sound compared to the older units, and the resonance that comes through them being aluminium....no sleeved cylinders.....

don't think is Australia registration number and should be stage 3 not stage 2

Everything that is driven up is in any case burdensome for every part and certainly with a bad tuning. Nothing better than original, for God's sake he is already going from 0 to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds. Ultimately cheap extra power is guaranteed with the time EXPENSIVE,
regardless of whether it is a DAZA or CZGB engine.

We do not know the level of tune (although the FB poster says it's stage 2) how it's been mapped, how it's been driven etc.......

There is the youtuber from Canada Adam Van City. He is currently running a fully stripped out drag setup including kirkey bucket seats and a lightweight battery as well as an e85 blend for fuelling. He was running an aggressive map that got him into the early 10s/late 9s on 1/4. He bent a rod on that setup so stage 2 without e85 fuelling may be the safest option. Anything after that may need engine reinforcement. There was also a stage 3 car on stock block that bent rods

It certainly is..... and the cost to strengthen the internals are not exactly cheap either. Somewhere around £4.5K for fitting the parts plus workshop time for strip down and re-fit. You get rods, bearings and pistons upgrade for that cash but it takes the car into a whole new world of tuning possibilities and performance numbers.
But before everyone starts to label the DAZA engine as having chocolate internals I think we need to put things into perspective. The stock DAZA engine with all original hardware (stock turbo etc) can be tuned way beyond the performance of an equivalent stage 2 PFL car. Mine is 100ps+ and 100nm + over the same stage 2 tune as my old PFL car. To get a PFL car to the same level of tune you would need to go to a hybrid turbo set up with Meth injection or running on race fuel, and to go beyond that it would need a big turbo bolting on (like Aoon did). People are getting into a power frenzy with the DAZA engine and pushing the stock parts way beyond the original design margins. I know of two owners that earlier this year were both warned by the tuner that they were venturing into blown engine territory.......and some weeks later after lots of hard launching guess what!!
The PFL car with its vermicular graphite cast block is a tried and tested robust unit, but I don't think the DAZA engine is a lemon in comparison........it's just that people have gone power crazy with the stock unit and behaving as if they have a race engine.

Yep no sympathy from me here.
Simple logic, if you try and push a stock engine to anywhere near +100% of its stock rated output you're asking for trouble.
Nothing wrong with an extra 10-20% but some people are simply greedy.

His car is a madness. For a stock turbo... he is running a stock turbo, built engine on e85 now running into the nines on quarter mile. It's a shame the unitronic 4" and ie inlet elbow pipe is only made for left hand drive

The Forge turbo inlet and larger air intake pipe add some good power for us right hand drive owners. For stock internals on the DAZA got to be careful when going above 600ps and 750nm....... the built internals make a big difference and show what can be achieved with the stock turbo. Bonkers!

Unitronic are currently developing the inlet pipe for RHD vehicles.

That's awesome. Might have to go for one... got the Malaka motorsport throttle body inlet in anodized black + intercooler charge pipe replacements coming in from states so hopefully would be a decent combination. Just need e85, injectors and some wheels running hoosier/Mickey Thomson slicks. Easily up to half a second difference with those mods and will complete my drag setup

That would be sweet. Just a matter of if they develop flex fuel functionality. Really want to give e85 a go without all the hassle of emptying the tank every time.

Looks like MRC have something in the pipeline too, as for different fuels I don’t know much about it. I thought you’d always have to have an empty tank for a different fuel type...

They already have the map switching function. Already have a map for stock+bolt ons, stage 2, stage 2 + Oct booster+ water meth and finally a map for 110 oct+ water meth.

Was going to have another map added for e85+meth, but Mrc advised against it since such instances as Adam van city. All I require for it are injectors and a software adjustment (hence the extra map).

However even if I were to go ahead I would have to be strictly running e85 on its specific map, 110 Oct race fuel specifically for its respective map etc. I cannot run an e85 blend with pump 99. Flex fuel would allow for the mix and there is hardware that would allow to detect the ratio of e85 vs pump.

It would be ideal if I could run a e85 fuel blend for occasional road use so i wouldn't have to empty the tank of pump fuel first. Plus e85 isn't cheap.
I'd probably only run pure e85 on drag/track day. Even with updrated injectors it still is pretty corrosive and injectors would still require very regular servicing to get them cleaned out

I've heard that, but I wasn't aware the lightbulb jumped out of the lamp and through the wall into the next room when it went pop.

I've got one here, final version. I should have fitted it by now with a comparison to the Forge one, in all honesty I am doubtful of a performance increase but it does have the PCV feed in 'as per stock' which I understand makes it significantly more effective. Can only be a good thing.

Have you spoken to MRC specifically about this? On Unitronic I can run E60-85, DAZA makes MBT at E60 so there really is no need to run E85 other than convenience. Providing it has fuel trims set for E50-90 range it would be absolutely fine to blend, which makes switching much easier as you just monitor E-content or fuel trims, it takes about 5 miles to mix and work through the lines in my experience.

I have a different pain - have to re-flash as part of the switch; Unitronic considering map switching but they are concentrating on other things right now (Flex Fuel is a maybe and would require an Ethanol sensor). Typically I run E60-E65, fine with 95RON in the blend, throw a bit of additive in and have covered most of the last 6,000 miles on the stuff.

Running higher Petrol % helps with lubrication concerns, not sure about our LPFP but new Bosch pumps recommend additives only >E50. Port injectors are all rated to E100 so really not a concern, not sure on DI but have spoken to folks in the US running E85 exclusive for 20k+ without issue. Still I plan to run a few tanks of 99RON through every few months, assuming my supply of E100 from Germany can be sustained!
