Hi,

I have an Audi a3 1.4tfsi, with start stop, however the car is a run around the start stop has never worked since I've had it, it doesn't bother me I usually turn it off in other cars I drive anyway.

As its getting colder I will be looking towards a new battery, its a AGM (all glass matt?) start stop one, some online car battery searches throw back normal non start stop batteries.

Can anyone tell me which model type I will require? I can throw some pics in of the current one if it helps.

I'll be curious to see if a new battery cures the non start stop anyway, certain things like returning to the car and unlocking the interior lights wont come on (is this a battery save feature?) also the rear demister wont work for a while I also feel this is a low battery problem?

Thanks.

Start stop only works once certain criteria is achieved, engine temp, battery voltage, ambient temp etc etc etc. Mine only works occasionally this weather.

Yeah I have a feeling it could be a variety of possibilities, a new battery would be first port of call I think, struggling to get a definite battery model i.e. 096, then I can see what deal I can get on one delivered.

Thank you mate
@guysy Tayna have a 20% off sale on the Ebay store till 10am on the 15th. That is an 096 size battery you have .

The varta silver is the same spec as your OE Varta battery.

Ah thank you thought it was 096 AGM, ok ill get on to ordering one.

I have a ancel vd500 scanner only, will I need to code the battery to the car? I read its only so the car knows theres a new battery in there? or will be just be replace and drive?

Thanks.

Just replace the battery, no coding req

Same car, same engine with start stop. Replaced the battery about 2 weeks ago as it fully died. Interestingly it wasn't an agm fitted even though it was oem. Bought an exide ek700 096 agm and start stop works now, although I don't want it to. Paid 106 delivered from Tanya so that varta is a brilliant price.

If yours had an agm already, and start stop has never worked it might not be the battery. Also never experienced the demist or lights issue on any car ever before when the battery is low
