Hi guys,

Looking for some quick advice...

Have viewed an RS3 today at Doncaster which has pretty much every option other than the sports exhaust, which I really wanted.

Now what I want to know is, if I can source a sports exhaust, is it easy enough to retro fit or is it better going down miltek route?

Many thanks
Tom

A few on here have sourced sports exhausts and fit them with no issues. I’d go for a genuine Audi sports exhaust over the Milltek. I personally think they sound better and come sale time I think it would sell easier with genuine parts.

Piece of cake.

Straight swap if you are handy with the spanner’s.

As D0C says get the Audi sport one.

Nothing sounds better for the money.

Plenty up for sale usually too.

Thanks mate.

Does the ECU need updating to control the valves or are they also on the stock exhaust?

Just need to find one now.

Same connections.

Sports exhaust just gives far better 5 cylinder loudness / tone.

That depends if it is a PFL of FL.
PFL sounds fantastic with just the sports exhaust and maybe secondary decats. No pcw mod required
The FL owners see this modification as abit of a necessity as even with the sports exhaust fitted the pcw mod improved it.
Me I think they have there own unique sounds right through the range from the 8p to the 2019 GPF fitted cars.

So the dealership have said they can provide the exhaust at £1362.16, however they will not fit it and will also invalidate the warranty.

This is ridiculous given that it's a genuine part and an option on the vehicle.

Anyone able to advise?

Look for a second hand one off of eBay then take it to a local garage for fitment

Just source it get it installed separately from Audi. They would surely never know if it’s genuine Audi exhaust.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Will try and source one off Ebay, I'm guessing the sport back and saloon are same fitment for the system?

Mines got the factory sports exhaust.
Am more than happy with it.

Cete valve controller gives good noise at lower speed.

Buy a second hand / new one and get a competent garage to fit it.

1362 for exhaust yet they quote me 1775 to replace one panel on my driver's seat!

Saloon and sport back are different.

Not sure if the pre face lift one will fit the facelift ?, anyone know ?

PFL valve connectors are slightly different to the FL, extra wire in the FL ones and the valve design was changed also.

Reason I ask is I have a full Scorpion system, this is one of the early proto types scorpion made and it uses the early pre face lift type valve motors, I had to get the loom adaptors to fit my face lift, it seemed to cure the valve rattle too lol.
This scorpion is for sale btw if anyone is interested, currently on ebay with no reserve.

Why would it void warranty? You can change anything on your exhaust from the cat back, only voiding the specific part you change so the midsection and back box.... no other warranty can be voided.

Audi have told me on multiple occasions it will only affect sound and won’t have any detrimental effects to the engine.

‘PCW’ none of this sports exhaust rubbish!

This. Only the resonators are different between the two exhausts. Get PCW to mod the standard ones and it'll probably sound better than the sport exhaust. I believe his mods are reversible, too, in case it turns out to be too loud. Like that'll happen!

Has anyone with the new OPF exhaust had the PCW mod done?

I’m considering this but only found videos on pre OPF cars and interested on how it makes a difference.

Ive has an e-mail from Paul at PCW who advised it will give a richer deeper sound which is exactly what I’m looking for.

Also considering the CETE valve controller on top of the mod but will see how the mod effects the exhaust note first.

It’ll still be muted because of these though.

Don't suppose you have a diagram of where to find this spring that makes the exhaust rattle in comfort?

PFL are all enclosed.

Not like these springs on the FL

So i managed to get the part-number for the 2019 RS3 OPF RS sports exhaust if anyone is interested.

8V0253181AC

My Local dealer is quoting £1135.11 + VAT

Just ordered the CETE valve controller after seeing numerous positive reviews that it gives a bit more noise at low revs on the OPF sports exhaust

Still considering the PCW mod also but will see how the valve controller effects the overall sound experience.

When you get it fitted post up your thoughts. I'm seriously considering getting one for my 19 plate RS...seems like the best of both worlds with it fitted..

Cete valve controller is great, certainly allows more glorious 5 cylinder soundtrack in the lower revs........:icon thumright:

Certainly sounds good here (similar valve controller) and note the comments that it sounds better in person and in a built up area as the sound bounces off the surrounding buildings

Sounds better deactivated imo.

Really? Definitely sounds that bit louder with the valves permanently open in dynamic and a bit more 5 cylinder rumble IMO

Yeah. Sounds a fair bit deeper with the thing activated but I like the more tinny noise.
