RSQ3 RSQ3

I’m looking to order a performance drop in panel filter but can’t find a really decent one. Only decent one I can see is an APR one. Worth going for??

Hi,had a Pipercross panel filter in my R32. Was fine over several years Won’t give you any performance increase,but it will mean you won’t have to replace every couple of years like an oem filter. Will probably get one myself on next service.

I've pondered a REVO remap a couple of times on the wistful logic of 'because I can' but truthfully I've never got in the RS and thought 'this isn't quick enough' so have never pursued it. It would only eat tyres even faster and test my powers of restraint still further. Expensive though it was the Cete AVC has been the best mod (aside from EBC Redstuff pads) it sounds faster even though it isn't - that visceral 5 cylinder howl is just so intoxicating.

I normally remap everything Vans and cars, But not this one , (I must be getting old) Its fast enough , WoW did I just say that , Ha ha, Good fast car,s
 
I had a revo remap on my SQ5 it went well, But the brakes were scary coming to bends ect, My RS is faster than my old diesel , And good brakes too.
 
Yeah - there is no doubt that an SQ5's brakes are barely adequate, the same can be said of the B9 RS4 - OK but not really good enough.
 
All round on the last RSQ3, I have a set of drilled/vented rear discs and Redstuff pads sitting in the garage - just haven't got around to getting them fitted.

So,looking for a bit of advice guys. Had the reverse sensors on my RSQ3 playing up for a while,specifically not muting the stereo when reverse selected. Warranty is running out in about a month so thought time to sort it. Booked into my local Audi stealership,picked car up yesterday,all sorted,needed “software update”. Great. Also,there’s a fault on your haldex,bit vague as to what. Asked if I need a new controller,”Probably,we don’t have the parts,but need to contact Audi to approve the repair” Why the need for approval I asked,it’s an Audi Used Approved car,with over a month left on the warranty. Standard procedure was the reply. Is that right guys,or B.S. ? Oh,and reversed off my drive to go to work this morning......no muting of the stereo Reminder,not that I needed it,as to why I avoid main dealers like the plague when possible

Annoying - it's probably implied worry by the dealer over being reimbursed. If it's inside cover then you ought to be fine. Is the dealer that's identified the repair requirement the same one that supplied the car?

Hi,thanks for the reply. No,it isn’t,I was so unimpressed with the service department when I collected my car from the dealer I purchased it from that I thought I try a more local franchise. Would that make any difference to the claim?

Should make no difference
 
My last SQ5 had the dreaded sun roof rattle , Days before the warranty ran out York Audi took the car in to repair it, They were good, Kept it until all new parts came and completely overhauled it , got it back a week later all done, So tell the dealer to keep your car until all faults done, otherwise youll end up paying. If out of warranty.

Thanks for the advice,I presume if you left your car with them,you were given a courtesy car for the duration?

Yep had a new Q5 Petrel For 9 days, All I did was drive it home park it up, Then back to York Audi, When my car was done, Ive found they Do the warranty work faster if you have a loan car,

Lol,I guess they would. Called in today after not hearing a thing from them today. Apparently there’s a problem with the haldex pump,but the “master tech” was out on a road test,and the guy who deals with warranty issues on his day off Meant to be calling me tomorrow.....won’t hold my breath

Bargain! The inde (The Phirm in Blackwater) that fitted my fronts found that the OEM pads had clogged up the cooling holes in the disc faces - they used a drill to clear each hole for maximum cooling performance.

My RS will have them fitted at 10K, So should last a bit, (I hope)
 
Got my RS back today, With twin exhausts, Workmanship Looks 100% at first glance , will know better tomorrow, When I get under the car, The 2 rear pipes out back to me make my RS, Pics when I can, >> The sound is 100% RS.

Nice one chap, bet you’re buzzing with it? How much was it all in and did they also alter the rear valance to suit? Does it sound mint then? Definitely get some pictures up and sound clips as soon as you can!

That is a good price. Who fabricated it for you? Have they routed it so it doesn’t cook your battery? Looking forward to seeing/hearing this too.

I know I would! Get some pictures and videos up sharpish chap. Mega! That’s a mint price for everything all in. I’ve swapped my standard exhaust for a PCW modded one with valve controller now and waiting to get it fitted when I finally get my car back next week! But definitely want the twin pipes at some point for sure. Looking forward to seeing yours!

Looks great, much better than one pipe, but I think the tips need to be tucked in a little more so they’re about 10mm from sitting flush with the bumper

Its the angle of the photo, It is 10mm from sitting flush with the bumper. And much better than 1 pipe thanks.

Hmm,I’m actually thinking I still prefer the single pipe personally. As previously posted,I think they both need to be “right into” the outsides of the diffuser as on the RS 3/4/6. Ultimately,it’s your car,and if you’re happy that’s all that matters

Oh,and just an update on my haldex pump fault. Fixed under warranty I’m happy to say ( just under £1k apparently),if I’d had to pay. Asked about filter related failure,Audi still maintaining it’s not needed or caused the failure at only 45k miles! Hmm,my car is due service at my trusted indy next week. I’m having the filter changed,whatever they are saying. Along with the Stronic oil change,and rear diff oils. Just feel better that way

Pic of RS3 above looks good to me, My RSQ3 has the same spacing and that looks good Too, As always we all mod our cars as we want them.

Respect to ALL but can I please add: a long time user of Redstuff and advocated them heavily to resolve numerous issues with the 8P RS3 since 2012 - all much documented here on ASN. BUT, while I find them perfect for enthusiastic road use and low dust of course, I have a mega issue with 'cold' bite once the pads have done 1000 miles or so. Go give 'em due diligence and the 'cold' bite comes back, but not for long, in my experience. Fit a new set of Redstuff and hey everything back as it should and then they, for me, go off.

PLUS, I found Redstuff suited the 8P RS3 but NOT our TT, the OEM pads were much better.

So, purchased a 19k miles SQ5 recently and while the braking was OK it didn't inspire, plus the discs were 'lipped' slightly and the OEM pads were 'obviously' lifting off ALL discs at the inner edges. Plus rusty brake disc hubs haven't we (Audi cars only) all.

So why not get 'em diamond cut and a new set of pads and that's what I did, but rather than a new set of OEM pads I was directed to Ferodo Eco-Friction Green brake pads for the 8P RS3. So I got a set both front and rear for £66.23 delivered. STOP; go read that again, £66.23 delivered! (eBay buyanycarparts and next day delivery).

Fitted 'em to the RS3 (BLUEY) swapping from 1500 mile Redstuff and jeeze, just amazing, right from the first applications; see https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/ferodo-eco-friction-green-brake-pads-for-the-8p-rs3.397139/ OK, our RS3 (or TT) is no longer our main use car - not something you'd want to park in a hospital car park 3-days each week.

And fitted them to several other 8P RS3 cars now each with the same excellent results.

Back to the SQ5 and a set front and rear delivered for £127.47 and again from first applications just brilliant and now, 1500 miles on, just amazing.

Obviously done the same with our TT for £51.67 delivered.

Just sayin' if anyone is thinking of 'brake-pads' then do consider Ferodo Eco-Friction Green brake pads.
