A4 Currently - What Next?

Yeah, it was a at least £20 a month cheaper than any of the carwow quotes, which were for a lesser spec. Interestingly, when I spoke to the guy at DTD, he said that the offer been pulled by the dealer (it has been removed from the site too) as they'd reached their sales targets, however they were honoring any orders placed on that day.

I'm planning on going back to Golf size as soon as the new shape Golf, Merc A-class are 12 months old and new shape Gti/gtd etc are on the second hand market.
Not sure if a new A3 is due but that would be in the mix as well.

An A4 is something I always wanted to try but now I had 3 months of one I feel I could already change.

I was meant to get a different one that had 19 inch wheels and more extras but for various reasons wasnt as keen when I saw it in person.

I was also under time pressure as my previous had issues, and ended up with this one which is a chrome everywhere sline with 18inch sline wheels and if I'm blunt, I think it looks a bit sh1t. The lag issue really ****** me off as well.

I'm looking at getting some 19" wheels, albeit probably 5v spoke replicas as I'm getting a bit sick of trawling ebay for genuine 5v or rotors that are very very expensive and yet still marked anyway. I dont really want to be paying a huge amount of money, if I was a big audi fan I'd invest in good examples now and just transfer them from car to car.

Basically i should have got a black edition but didn't. If I thought it at least looked nice the lag issue would be more bearable.

Nothing wrong with the sline, I much prefer the looks compared to shiny black, which resembles plastic. Basically, and somewhat unfortunately, you broke one of the basic rules in purchasing a car and just ended up with one not to your particular taste....

I would have to disagree with that statement, it’s a nice place to be sat in but when it comes to driving it’s not a hard act to follow at all. I reckon the new 3 series out does the A4 in both interior and driver involvement

Somewhat true - had I the option of changing at 2 years, I wouldn't have, however after 3 years it's the no warranty, higher maintenance costs for general wear & tear items etc, that make me want to change. I'd have happily gone back into a new 3.0 TDI A4, however unfortunately options are limited now on the current range, and I couldn't get anything like the A4 for similar money on an Audi badge. Even the A3 saloon 184 was coming in at close to £500 a month. For the same price I chose to jump ship and try something else out - it might turn out to be the wrong choice, but we only learn from mistakes.

I’m in a very similar situation with my 3.0 tdi 218 quattro s-line, now approaching my 3rd year of a 4-year lease with it. I carefully specced it back in 2016. Final price was around £41k but I got a great deal on pcp, paying £408 a month with a £500 deposit and a high GMV.

Been looking around for what to go for next, and nothing, I mean nothing has so far caught my attention, except maybe going for a used C7 A6 Avant The new A4 is a joke, the touchscreeny interior of the new A6 - no thanks, the bmw 3-series looks like a Lexus and the Merc just isn’t for me from driving point of view. I mean what the hell is going on? Why on earth did Audi decide to re-design the B9 so badly with all the fake exhausts etc. On top of this, there are all these shi@ty pcp deals and astronomical taxes. As someone said above, car shopping was indeed fun a few yrs ago, but now it’s a complete disappointment.

Thankfully, at least my current B9 A4 is so good, with its silky smooth and powerful V6, and the simply beautiful interior. The exterior is a class act too. I’ve grown so fond of it during the almost 3 yrs I’ve been with it that I’m now seriously considering purchasing it at the end of lease. Maybe invest in a remap of the engine, new rims to freshen things up.

I think I'm in the same boat as everyone else, about a year left of my PCP on the S4 and looking about I really don't see anything that floats my boat. That and cars / deals seem to have become a lot more expensive than they used to be. The only car coming out soon I'm genuinely excited about is the ID3 - if it is all it promises to be but thats more likely a replacement for my GTD rather than the S4. Still, first world problems and all that...

Same here, my S4 pcp finishes in April next year. Dealer keeps calling, seems pretty desperate to sell me a new car, but nothing I’m keen on. Audi really seem to have dropped the ball big time with new models.
I’ve come to the conclusion I’m better off sticking with my current car, got a 4th year warranty so all good.

Totally agree. I remember three years ago there was a lot to like about the Audi range. I could of been tempted by 4 or 5 of their cars. Now I cant think of one really outside of the new RS7 or RS6 which are both way out of my price range.

I was initially planning to try an S4 after this car but the new S4 is a no no for me with its tacky fake exhausts and the faked engine sound
I’m now hoping to arrive at a smooth pcp ending with my car so that I can buy it out but we’ll see. As they say, never say never

My GFV is about 14.9k after 48 months, the car isn't worth that even now at 40 months. I think they must have way over egged the gfvs on the B9 A4's.

I'll be sad to see mine go. Today is it's last "proper" drive, the commute to work. My new one gets delivered to the office today so the A4 will be staying there for a few days until BCA come to collect it.

Just had the car delivered now. First impressions are I like it. Looks very nice inside, comfortable and feels quite premium. I've only driven it about a mile so far, as the delivery driver was being picked up but his transport was running a bit behind so I said I'd nip him to the shopping complex up the road so he could get some lunch etc.
The engine is a tad noisier than the A4 (a bit more diesel'y!) but I guess that's partly because the A4 is a v6 and is exceptionally smooth. Not had chance to play with anything else yet. One surprise was it has digital dials - I've never been a huge fan, and I assumed these would be analog, but they aren't. It's no big deal - I'll get used to them I'm sure. Not much else to say at the minute really, unfortunately had to come back to the office whilst it sits in the carpark.
