Handing car back - what a faff!

They look better when uploading photo's on Insta, and having to have something better than their peers. There is a young lass round the corner from me. Passed her test, and (I assume) given a Ford Ka off her parents. Perfect car for a young 17 year old lass. Less than 2 years later, she turned up in a Merc C-Class. 18-19 year old lass in a bl**dy C-Class. When I was 18 I had a clapped out Mk1 Fiesta 1.3 Chia. At that age any idea's of owning an Audi, BMW, or a Merc was pipe dreams.
I can completely agree with your points if it is a case of them probably not really able to afford the payments and insurance, which is usually the case as on some part time job or something, if that is the case then I wholeheartedly agree. However there are plenty (I'll include myself as I'm in the age group you refer to) who have a decent paying job and as such treated myself to a newer car, yes I could have gone much cheaper route but that isn't what I wanted to do.

I had a 6 year old mk3 escort in 1988 when I was 19 or 20, a 5 year old ford fiesta xr2 for a week when I was 21 in 1989, 4 year old golf gti 8v mk2 when I was 21 in 1989 which I kept for years. Never bought new even though I was on 3 x the national wage and lived at home. Quite a few of my colleagues had nicer cars like my few computer operator shift leader had a new Sierra cossie.

What is that awful thing stuck on the rear. That's my idea of hell. Mind you, i am defo not the target market for one these at 51.
Don't worry it does not come standard.....its part of a pack that costs £2,295
Age shouldn't come in to it though because I bought a new Civic FK8 at 50 years old, and rear wings don't get much bigger than that. :D

In 2015 a S3 sportback basic spec was just £34k and the saloon was just under £36k if my memory serves me right
lol, my s3 was about £41.5K in 2014. I have zero will power when it comes to options, just dont ask how much the Rs3 was (All i can say is the current heavily discounted overrated BMW M3/M4 are cheaper)

Zero will power coupled with deep pockets. :D
Seriously though I wouldn't even have believed that possible for an S3 Sportback in 2014. :openmouth:

The saloon wasn't that much. More like £34k. I paid £34,051 for my Saloon with lots of options on it. Think it worked out that I basically got all my options for free.

Yeh, gaz on here was in the same showroom and spending even more. Obviously we got decent discounts too, which was a bit harder then as a new version.

Well, only driven 30 miles so far but the ST is fantastic. So great to drive. Recaro seats are awesome.

Car has not been waxed yet. That's tomorrow's job.

I'll upload pics when I make them smaller.

Will you be providing hair cuts afterwards?

I do like the TT interiors. Think they are the best interior of any main stream car going. Take it you don't need the extra space of the S3 anymore?

It is Race Red. Always liked red cars - had a few of them.

I never really like Red cars (Apart from Ferrari's) before, until I got my Twingo RS. Renault's Red is a really nice Red.

Now it's a colour I look for in a car. Have seen only one ST in Red, and it look great. I hope Ford have changed how they do Red, as years ago, the colour would go off and turn Pink pretty quickly.

Stopped going to the dealers for servicing after the car was three years old. Use a local garage now using VAG approved parts. Also one of the lads served 20 years in VW so knows VAG cars inside out. £35 an hour labour no contest:yes:

Audi service costs would be funny if money wasn't involved.
Just about to buy a service plan from Ford for the Fiesta ST which is fixed 12k miles or 12 months between services. £400 total, not much different to what Audi want for 1 service!

Is that for 3 years? Or 5? The service plan for my X3 M40i was £399, but I ended up cancelling it after discovering 1st service due in 18k miles or two years, so would only get benefit of 1 service over the 3 years as do about 8k p/a, but would be worth it for higher milers

It is for 3 services. Service required annually.

Looks nice. Is that an ST1 then? Wheels look like the standard smaller fit of the ST1?

Did you not go for the Performance pack?
