Hi,

Just seeing if anyone can help.. my car has all of a sudden started playing up.
Rear wiper comes on when it wants and gets stuck in random positions.

Numberplate light fault comes up on dash when they're both working fine.

Windows won't do the convenience open when holding the unlock or lock button on the key fob.
Offside rear door won't open sometimes if the car has been locked for long periods. And the alarm sometimes randomly goes off.
This has literally all only started about a week ago.
Anyone know of the issue be it battery or fuses?

Any help greatly appreciated before I take to a garage ..

Cheers

Will

Check to see if your rear wiper motor has leaked washer fluid inside the boot panel.

Check the wiring on the offside front door shut.

There was a leak last year just after I bought the car. It was on the boot lip when I opened the boot. I just figured it had run down the back of the car as it never happened again.

The rear wiper motor is a pants design because the washer fluid pipe runs through the centre. When it leaks it kills the motor and other electrical bits in the boot door area (central locking, number plate lights etc.)

Have a search on here both are common problems.

Just had a search since you mentioned it and yeah seems a common fault.
Is it a costly repair along with the replacement of the motor. Or a simple fix of the electrics with the replacement?

Thanks for the replies up to now.

Is this the correct Motor of you can see the attached picture. In the description is says it for my car but ebay says it isnt.
Eurocarparts is £119 and I don't fancy paying that if I can get the same thing for £60

You need to clean up any connectors corroded green, so be sure to check them all too.

There are large discounts with ECP using the discount code if you prefer picking up the motor at the store. Don’t worry too much about the part no there have been lots of revisions, as long as it’s a Valeo. They are a no quibble company if it’s faulty or not the right part so easy to change.

Thanks for all replies.

Got the motor changed and the old one had soaked the inside of the boot door.
No more leak no more number plate light fault on the dash as cleaned inside thrm. .but the rear door locking mechanism isn't working.
Won't lock or unlock and the window won't work along with the convenience open.
Again has anyone else had this problem and is it a case of new mechanism in the door.
It explains the alarm going off now and then.

The rear hatch switch in the lock usually has a good dousing when fluid leaks out of the wiper. This causes the alarm problem and has been a common fault with most VAG cars, even my 2002 Golf suffered with this.
If the door open warning in the DIS shows up randomly it will be the rear hatch switch that needs changing. There could also be an unrelated fault in the rear door locking so don’t assume it’s all to do with the wiper leak.
