Handing car back - what a faff!

The same for me, mine will be 3 years old in Feb 2018 and I will keep it another year....nothing floats my boat with the current crop of cars and I own title of the car...no monthlies, which is very nice place to be!
When I signed up for the S3 four years ago this November it was to celebrate the end of my mortgage. Now I have no mortgage and no payments on my car . So yes great feeling.

You have no car payments now, but do you still have a car? :D
If you do then presumably it was on traditional hire purchase?

@pburv sadly S3 went after 2 1/2 year and 37k then Golf R was 25k after 18 months.

Enjoying the ‘Nissan’ tho ....

I wish. They tried to tempt me into another s3 or even rs3 but didn,t come close on what I was willing to pay a month. Plus a rather offensive part ex price on my car.
It,s only got 22k miles so will do me a while longer I reckon.

Never got as far on the monthlies with the Rs but wanted over £400 with equity on my car(£1800) as deposit on the s3 saloon. That's before any options came into play. needless to say the conversation with the sales guy only lasted about 30 minutes lol. From the start with my current car i was happy with a monthly rental of £273 and I couldn't quite get myself to pay the extra £200 plus a month extra for pretty much the same car. So maybe to get an extra kick out of my current car I might go down the modded route like our mate @Rob2k68 did with his . Don't get me wrong 300bhp aint bad but you know...............lol

I’d whole heartedly recommend it mate, car absolutely rocks with an extra 100bhp

Oh yeah! still have the car. I have other things that require my money nowdays so will stick with the S3 for now.Like I mentioned I might get it chipped to to keep it interesting for me.
Oh yes it was on pcp. Just paid off the balloon payment a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't going to let the stealers take any equity that was on the car.

Collect my new Fiesta ST2 on Monday.

My insurance cost has gone down by £3 per month for the remainder of my current deal from my 1.0TFSI A3 SE - amazing.

You'll have to post some pics of it up mate.

Plus once it's run in, it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on it. Both in handling, and what it's like to live with compared to Audi.

Plus once it's run in, it'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on it. Both in handling, and what it's like to live with compared to Audi.
My sister took her Fiesta for a service the other week, whilst there the guy that I did the deal on her behalf with asked if I was still thinking of downsizing, I said yes so he brought around their ST3 Fiesta...It was the most boring test drive I'd ever done!!! Not because of the car, but the route! Out of the showroom and left, 100 yard to the motorway, up the motorway in a dead straight line, off at a junction (ohh I thought we're going down the lanes) NO...around the roundabout and back on motorway!!! I said "Can't we come off and do some A roads?", came off at the next junction and went through town back to the dealership :(

As for the car, it was a lot nicer than I was expecting it to be, not as hard on the suspension as I'd have thought and also a lot quieter, it went over bumps and potholes OK, not like the spine cracking thud I had expected. The exhaust in sport mode does sound good :) I found the steering to be heavy and I'd imagine on a long motorway run it would get tiring, but for day to day short trips it would be fine. The colour was nice as well and for me the bumpers were a nice match to the car paint...it was the performance blue. I couldn't live with a mismatch bumper/car colour :)

@KenL if you haven't already asked, ask them about the main Ford warranty, you can extend it to a full 5 years for £240 which is a bargain...he didn't mention that I had to! The dealership Ford warranty is year 3rd-4th year £229 and then year 4th-5th year £379 = £608....2.5 times the main Ford price!

They also offered a service pack @ £19.99 per month, it works out at 36 x £19.99 = £719.64.
The prices quoted for each service if paying as you go was 1st £160, 2nd £220 + £40 brake fluid and the 3rd service £340 = £760 in total. So if you intend to keep it beyond the 3rd service, the £19.99 per month plan works out better.

It also has a few other benefits:

The best benefit is the free wash and vacuum with every service. :innocent:
I'd decline that part of the offer myself lol. Breakdown cover is handy and a saving though, as is the free puncture repair...about £15-£20 a hit otherwise.

So how do you find it compared to an S3?

It’s epic ! I do miss the looks of the Daytona sleeper tho especially with the saloon 19s.

Also had a golf R in between which the A35 runs rings round.

Oh no....I always let the dealer wash my car because they are very experienced and have all the equipment to provide you with a top class wash. You can rest easy in the knowledge that your car is in good hands. :)

I'm not knocking the service plan because I like to have one myself...but it needs to be significantly cheaper or I wouldn't consider it worthwhile.
Ford dealers have been providing full breakdown cover with every individually paid for service for many years now.
My last puncture was about 20 years ago so that benefit would not concern me.

P.S. I'm not sure if you thought my original post was serious or not. :D

Shhh about not having a puncture, I said exactly the same when I had the S3, then got 2 in 6 months! One was half an hour after leaving to go on holiday as well :(

If you are at the end of the pcp May be worth seeing how much it is to settle the agreement and then sell the car. We buy any car will give you the worst case, also look at Tootle etc.

Agreed, i was going to px my s3 for an rs3 about 6 months early of a 4 year pcp. They offered £17.5K but WBAC were offering £21.5K and autotrader private sale would've been close to £25K - as it was mint, fully loaded and had ultra low mileage (under 6K miles per year).

Wife was looking for a car, so had the s3 instead - i paid it off and kept it as i didnt want 2 pcp deals.
