How do guys, a couple of you already know from another post but it's off topic so long story short i'm attempting to start a brainstorming thread to help me gather a few ideas if anybody is up for it i would appreciate it a lot.
The horse - 2006 A3 8p 2.0 tfsi BWA engine.
My oil pump has either seized or snapped the drive chain or the balance shafts have kaput with the chain taking all the grunt also. I have two oil pressure gauges. One manual one on a T in the engine bay going to a Digi one on the dash both reading zero. I did a fairly hard second gear pull into third and then it went and I shut it off.
I'm thinking chances are my engine is shot.
I have three options as far as I can see.
1.) Throw a new oil pump on and hope for the best.
2.) How easy is it to throw an S3 lump in there ? Do I need the whole ECU, loom and everything or can my ECU run the S3 engine with adequate mapping. I have very good Winols knowledge and could sort that out if need be.
3.) Throw another stock engine in but they're £800-1300 for another 500 I could find an S3 engine.
I'm going to say my engine is probably done at this point. At least the head will be toast and they're half the price of a complete engine alone.
