As most know l got some Fireball Nano coat....noticed the little tube inside the bottle was choking up with what looks like gel...yup the stuff is turning to a gel in the promise spray...replaced 2 already,l then noticed the tab under bottle had a date on it...11/09/2016 ...this always happens with Si02 products...over a period of time...a better stick in the fridge to prolong its effectiveness lol,l left it on a panel yesterday for longer than usual was a bitch to buff off....wont do that again in a hurry

Has anyone had much experience with Koch Chemie stuff? Seems to get decent reviews but I've never really seen much of it before. Looking at the quick detailing spray specifically but they seem to do quite a range of things.

Heard great things about the KC Green Star but never used the stuff personally.

Found this Joseph Joseph laying around in a kitchen drawer. Perfect for a teaspoon measure and it's new home now in the garage.

2 second job to measure the shampoo now.

Okay its not my colour, beggers can't be choosers. Lol
@A4A4 - I have a selection of syringes to measure my shampoo out
So you are not the only one with OCD measuring issues lol

Got some Dodo Juice Blue Velvet was to try when mine is due a top-up. Been highly recommended it for blue / darker cars!

I just put a coat of Butter wet wax on last week so probably give that a few weeks first before trying this.

Has anyone modified their snow foam lance to swap out the 1.25mm orifice inside the lance for a 1.1mm orifice? The theory is that this raises the pressure going through the lance and generates thicker foam from the same amount of water. A VERY easy and cheap hack by all accounts - a new 1.1mm brass orifice can be picked up from fleabay for a couple of quid delivered, and the swap out should take seconds so will give it a try and post a 'how to'. Was just wondering if anyone has done this already (specifically on an Autobrite Direct lance) and whether it does give noticeably thicker foam?

Love a good pressure washer mod :thumbs up:

A couple of brushes from Aliexpress

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32967433250.html?spm=a2g0s.12269583.0.0.362a14e6kxeCh9 I haven't used this yet but seems the same as other hogs hair brushes I've got. Time will tell if it falls apart on me.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32982137869.html?spm=a2g0s.12269583.0.0.3eef56a2c1zE8A I have used this it's very soft for doing the dash. As a tip if you roll the brush between your palms it creates enough static to pick up any dust

As a first time user I got a voucher code so they only cost me about a fiver Inc delivery

Evening Jimbo. I did the modification with my In2detailing foam Lance a couple of months ago. Worked a treat. Big improvment on foam thickness.

Needed to use large adjustable spanner and large set of stilsons mind . Was pretty tight. Took it apart , soaked the gauze in vinegar overnight . Put back together in the morning , added a bit of PTFE tape to the threads , job done.

One thing I did notice though , with my k5 at least . The mixture adjuster on the Lance takes a little dialing to get right . While the mod gives added pressure I found that is you give too much then it creates back pressure in the k5 . Which in turn switches itself off.

Once the pressure is dialed in right then no issues . Overall I'm glad I did it mate

Nice one buster, and some good advice here. Shouldn’t need to get the monkey wrench and workshop vice out as only recently fitted the quick fit adaptor for the in2detailing short trigger gun - reckon it’ll be a doddle. Will give it a go and report back. Got your ceramic coat on yet pal? Starting to feel the need to get some pre-detailing ‘Winter Is Coming’ jobs done myself. Gtechniq C5 for my wheels this weekend...

Unfortunately not mate . Simply too many other jobs and things to do say the moment . I did get to complete the first of the two stage correction / polish . Paint looks pretty good but at the moment I've had to go with leaving the A3 with a good coat of wax.

Autumn is fast approaching so unless I get a spare weekend then it's going to be a job for early spring .

Got a few bottles of this
I've been using it to clean caravan roof. Works way better than any pre-wash or snow foam I've used so far

Going to give it a bash on the wheels on the Avant to see how it fairs

Diluting it down I can see it working as an all purpose APC too

Best bit? Its 95p a bottle :D

If it doesn't work at least your wheels will smell nice. It also has citrus juice in it to remove any oil...

I got a bit carried away today on the news my new RS3 had arrived in the UK. Bought pretty much the entire carpro line up (polishing pads, essence, cquk 3.0 ceramic coat, ton of microfibres, ironx, tarx, etc. and some leather coating) and some news wash buckets and shampoo... Oh and a car drier (bigboi).... and a tool set and a jack and stands to do the wheels.

In retrospect I probably should have paid for a full detail form a pro, but it should be a good bonding experience.

Haha, awesome haul there...tools for life as @Jimbob76 says

Look forward to pics after arrival and post your detailing session

It’s a great feeling knowing that thing of beauty you’ve been lusting over for months is nearly on your drive. Enjoy mate!

And never regret buying tools, once they’re bought they’re bought and will last you a lifetime + you get the satisfaction of doing the work yourself - you’ll take more care and give more attention to detail than anyone you sub-contract to.

It’s an addictive game, this detailing lark, so take your time, enjoy learning and be sure to post your experiences with your RS3 on here pal, we’d all love to see how you get on
:hi:

I’ve ordered a few new bits and pieces to try out

Bilt hamber auto-wash
Chemical guys tyre gel
Koch chemie green star
Koch chemie FSE quick detailer
Koch chemie speed glass cleaner

The Koch chemie stuff is really well priced and gets good write-ups so thought I’d give it a go

Ok. Suggestions please.

I need something to wash the car, the wheels, the glass (hopefully to help in the rain, too), the interior and the leather.

Don’t want to break the bank, but don’t want washing up liquid either.

Wheels: Bilt hamber auto wheel - nothing else I’ve tried has even come close, a few minutes with a chemical resistant brush per wheel and they look brand new.
Leather: Zaino Z-10, really great on leather, it was quite hard to get a hold of for a while but seems to be well stocked again now.

Just got the glass polishing compound of halfrouds to try reduce or completely remove little hairline scratches.
Also, got that haze and raindrop spots combined with wax remainings on the windscreen what is causing dash reflection.

Foam dash matte finish cleaner also purchased to see if it really does get gloss off.

I have a CPL filter on the dash cam but still some reflection is present.

You can't do much wrong if you get anything Bilt Hamber for the exterior and anything Sonax for the interior. All for a reasonable price.

Loads of ideas in this detailing section.

I haven’t tried Zaino products in a while, but they always where well thought off a few years back!
