RSQ3 RSQ3

Sad to say my wife has had an accident in the car the other day and the car is currently sat on the drive maimed!! Waiting for it to be recovered and repaired now. Gutted but glad my wife and daughter were okay!!
Damn that sucks.
Hope it's not too bad but all that matters is your family is fine.

It sounds a beauty.
I think it's a case of right car just the wrong time for me unfortunately. Heart says "go look at it" while the head says "don't be a plonker again" lol
My SQ5 is fantastic too....its just not an RS and I need to go down that route at some point, whether it be an RSQ3 or an 8P RS3

SIX months on and I rate our 2016 SQ5 way more than either our 8P RS3 and or 8J TT and while we still enjoy both, but now rarely, our DIESEL!!! SQ5 just does everything so much better, for us :thumbs up: And we don't hang around! It's just sooo chuckable and its flappy paddle 8-speed box mega fast. MPG can be as high as 45 and/or as low as 15 (and that ain't hard for this 74-year old...) but who cares :racer:

Played RSQ3 (just a taller RS3 but no where near the same...) - thanks to Stafford Audi. Played 2019 SQ5 petrol too - just hate the angular looks and don't get me started on the touch screen Q8 :sadlike:

Done lots of miles in S8, RS6, RS7, R8 V10 Plus on carbon brakes an' all, but I/we still RATE!!!! the 2016 DIESEL (Nev) SQ5...

And with an 8P RS3 and TT roadster sat in the garage just waiting I'm truly surprised to be saying that but there you are, a 2016 DIESEL SQ5 is a MEGA piece of kit :yahoo:

I even think it's a nicer looking car than the RSQ3 and in most ways is the better car....apart from the fact it isn't an RS.
I dont think I could move on yet though, even for that performance RSQ3 but I do need an RS in my life at some point.

Just taken and posted an exhaust 'NOISE' Ju, how anyone can think a STD petrol or even 'modified' petrol SQ5 exhaust can sound better... :sadlike:



And that's a bog STD 2016 SQ5 650Nm @ 1400rpm V6 twin-turbo diesel, lol...

Agree the SQ5 is a great car, Ive had one, But I got the RSQ3 as I wanted a RS, The only one for me was the RSQ3, Plan on keeping for a while too.

Go find a nice low miles 8P RS3 (not mine!!!) and you'll NOT be disappointed - though I'll gamble you'll still prefer the/a 2016 650Nm DIESEL!!! SQ5, an amazingly satisfying piece of kit :racer::

Would not want a RS3 or any other low car, I do like the SQ5 plus, But the RS I have now is good for me.

Having had two SQ5 diesels they do sound good - even if the noise is faked - a V6 sounding like a rumbly v8. Masses of torque low down emphasises the kick in the back - they always feel quick because of that and I do think SQ5's are more of a balanced design in comparison to an RSQ3, which from some angles is strangely quirky in many respects - it has its own character.

As a driving experience the RSQ3 has a deeper split personality - driven normally its quicker than almost everything else on the road, try a little harder and insanity arrives very swiftly - driven quickly the RSQ3 is just more fun - the handling can get 'interesting' before the legal limit is reached and the brakes are just (and I dislike the word because of my Texan work colleagues) AWESOME.

The fun bit is where the B9 RS4 failed - I think the only way you could have an involving drive was on a racetrack at the limit. As a road car the fun had been exchanged for incredible competence - so a dull drive.

There was talk of an RSQ5 - the diesel SQ5 with 8 pot calipers/wavy discs (as opposed to the 6 pots shared with a whole host of Audi vehicles) would be a formidable cross-country tool then.

Awesome you love it John. I had a M40d for a week, and whilst it delivers really good power (has 700nm) I honestly much prefer the M40i and its delivery.

Given most journos are saying stick with M40i and don’t bother with X3M the B58 engine is not too shabby.

Each to their own and all that, but for me fuel consumption not an issue

It's only like adding a sports exhaust that alters the sound coming out of the pipes.
I have a maxhaust sound booster on mine too so its even more fake lol......sounds damn good though

Does anyone know where I can get a decent panel filter from for the standard air intake? Anyone else added other bits too?

Not at all, was just making the point that the PCWMod is a mod to the actual exhaust and not just fake sound. I like the extra noise my ASD adds, so not slagging off at all, but if you don’t have a diesel SQ5 as you two do, the OP was given option to have PCWMod add some sound. Or could add a soundaktor, but they are a lot more pricey than the mod.

Absolutely, proper engine, proper sound, proper authentic car

Spent hours and hours at MIRA back in the 90's doin' noise-drive-by evaluations for 93/59/EEC (the legal noise limit for cars/Europe is 74 decibels and it is illegal to modify an exhaust to be louder than this - dated 12 Jun 2019) and I'll bet you've little or no idea of how we used to tweak/manipulate/tune induction and/or exhaust noise to meet requirements - and that included choosing the 'right' day to do it.

For sure 'bone-dry' and or 'rainy-wet' days were NOT the ones to do it...

The engine is a peach with masses of torque, which equates to effortless driving and rapid acceleration but it's still a diesel and sounds like it when you dont want it to!
Its marketed in the class above the Q3 and so has a bit more of a premium feel built in and has a better pick of options..........there is a but coming and its a fairly big BUT.......its an S car not an RS car!
I want to try an RSQ3 (preferably a performance one) but then I dont want to open Pandoras box lol

Driven every and ALL of the Audi range. We've an 8P RS3 and an 8J TT and had several A2's, both petrol and diesel, plus a recent 185bhp A1, brilliant! But this 2016 326bhp 650Nm SQ5 knocks me about! If I thought there was anything that suited me/us more, @ whatever £s, be it a Porsche or beee em uu and/or whatever/even, I/we'd have it already.

For me the 2016 DIESEL Audi SQ5 is the most amazingly GOOD piece of automotive machinery I've driven for a very long time...

I do note after 4 years of RSQ3 ownership that cars are attracting more of an enthusiast following than they did when they were in production - think they dropped out of the pricelist in Jan 2017? Certainly looking at some of the used ones that have appeared - mine included- the 1st three years of their lives have been low-mileage 2nd car usage.

So seems amazing seeing as Audi UK sold less than 900 total - between 2014 and 2016 that such a low sales volume car would reappear in the pricelist...a compact SUV that gobbles fuel at a prodigious rate isn't the ideal candidate for a Mumsy school trip wagon.

+1 - Not owned one, but driven the 1016 SQ5 @ Audi Experience day, very nice, smooth, fast......no drama (boring)

No need for diesel either especially after owning a diesel gate Q5 and do less than 8k per year.

Read some reviews on M40i John, not a bad SUV at all, and most journos reckon the pick of the bunch, and no need for the extra £20k for X3M as power available so much lower in the Rev range.

Anyway, we all love our cars, and if we didn’t, we wouldn’t have them

Thanks - I did provide a taxi service recently for a mate to get his mega high spec M5 serviced (£40k of options and aftermarket kit), he bought used I hasten to add - so saw the inside of a BMW dealership in Coventry. They had an X3 M Competition in the showroom that looked really rather nice I recall.

I love cars, we all love cars - that's why we are here! I'd like to think the RSQ3 will be my last IC powered car and some sort of electric utility will replace it. The RSQ3 has more performance than I need, has real character and is properly good fun to drive - I'm going to keep it for a while longer yet.
