Does anyone else with a petrol SQ5 think the exhaust sounds and looks a little underwhelming ? I know it's only a V6, but it is supposed to be an 'S' after all.

Best thing to do would be take to PCWMods (Paul), as if anyone can work his magic on the factory exhaust, he can

my new BMW is a tad loud on start up, still running in so havent been able to try it properly with the tunnel test yet.

I found my SQ5 loud enough, it is a refined tourer not a racer and I am not sure that too many pops and bangs fit the upmarket SUV image....

agree, and not talking about pops and bangs, but nice to hear the engine/exhaust note, in my opinion. But some prefer the quietness, and in that sense you cannot beat the Q5/SQ5 etc.

You can use something like BimmerCode and dongle to turn off ASD (Active Sound) in the BMW

Hows about a 2016 SQ5 DIESEL exhaust - unmodified of course:

Just had to do it (Nev) - just now - cos the PCW exhaust is just, well, a nonsense... :sadlike: It'll not let me say CRAP!

Haha, you are relentless, fair play.
How can the PCW Mod be a nonsense? At least it is REAL sound, and not fake sound created by a speaker

Does sound good though, Nev, false/enhanced or otherwise it does sound good/different/interesting and not so loud to be obtrusive; and here's BLUEY if only to compare what a sweet sound an AUDI straight-5 'petrol' makes:

A one bucket wash please note...

No THAT is a proper sound! No arguments here.
But going back to OP's original question, the ONLY way to get "some" sound out of the muted petrol SQ5 is:

(In no particular order)
- PCW Mod
- Soundaktor
- Sports Exhaust
- 2016 SQ5 :)

The 1st one being the cheapest, and is VERY highly rated across this forum, particularly with FL RS3 owners

Haha, you are relentless, fair play.

And from today with a "custom" SQ5 avatar" Nev... :yahoo:

Here's more of what I used to play with (up to 1985), Nev, though these are not marine:

A pair of these in a GFRP hull at full chat (850bhp @ 1800rpm each) down the Solent was a laugh...

Has anyone figured out how to disable the exhaust flaps on the FY SQ5 via VCDS/Coding?

A few people on the US forum have done it. Some get no problems pit I've seen a few people say it causes codes to come up.
Not sure if this is done through vcds or not though.
I've gone stage2+ with 034 and exhaust is perfect now
