What Car Care / Detailing Have You Done Today ?

Ain't you due a change of car

Aye mate. Both would normally go by Nov when they’re both 3 yrs old. But might keep them into 2020 now. Still can’t stop looking at alternatives online though

May/June 2020 is when mine is due to be changed, don’t know what will be though! But looking forward to having a new car in the summer months, the last few have been December when cleaning and keeping them clean is a nightmare.

Cheers Tash. I do get what you're saying . Trouble is when you pay so much attention to detail ...... And most of us in here do.........

Once something is seen , it can't be unseen. In reality I think I just need to accept that aside from buying a new or near new car , I've got to make the best of the current car . From a few feet away the A3 looks tip top. When your up close and personal , so to speak . Actually doing the detailing , the little imperfections become apparent .

Think I'll go for the paint pen. Make the best of the chips. Do the final polish and prep and get on with the ceramic. Respray isn't a viable option so it seems the way forward .

Once you have sorted the chips and ceramic mate, you won’t look back. So so easy to maintain

Looks lovely mate and yes that has gone fast! How long are you planning on keeping it?

I remember signing up on this forum around this time in 2014 after test driving and then ordering the S3!!!! I've had the A5 two years next month...scary how time goes so fast.

Both looking good BMW boy :p I nipped into BMW Chester the other day for a nose as I had 15 mins to kill, they have got some good looking cars out at the moment. Got talking to the sales guy who had worked for Audi in the past! He seemed a lot more open about how they price/work out their deals than the Audi sales people do. I questioned the move that Audi have done that BMW have been doing for a long time with regards to 4 year pcp deals rather than 3 years, he was confident that after 3 years on a BMW pcp you WILL be in a position to VT and start again!!! He also said how Audi change their cars at the dealership to do a yearly service if you do under 10k per year, with BMW he said even if you only do 4,000 per year it's still 2 years/19,000 mile before the first service, as that is how they leave the factory!?!? So basically 1 service in the time you have it!

As we’re possibly looking for something for towing and Mrs Bairns car is wasted sitting at the house most of the time, we’re thinking of putting more cash into the towing machine and less into her car (but still needs to provide a bit fun / have some street cred).
Nothing jumping out though. Thought about A4/S4, Q5/SQ5, Discovery Sport, X3, but nothing’s exciting me. She should probably good for an Abarth or Fiesta ST for example. I fully admit we’re both badge snobs too, ruling perfectly good cars offering good value for money. I’m a bit so so about Audi at the moment too so who knows what I’ll end up in.

Haha, thanks mate Yes, my service currently showing as May 2021!! I bought a 3 year service plan, but got it refunded a few weeks in when I figured out it was pointless. This is honestly the 1st car I have had in a long time that I feel very happy to keep longer than my usual 18-24 months.

@jassyo06 - The modern 'vans are comfy down to around -15c I'm told. Not that I'm gonna try lol They are so well insulted nowadays & the heating systems are so effective/efficient. Looking at a New Years Eve stay too lol

Not detailing per say but kerbed the first alloy on the S5. ****** bus forced its way through on the high street and I moved over and had to get close to the kerb (too close) and curved my nearside front.
Sounded worse than it actually was but still very annoyed about it

Yeah frustrating, "lucky" I have alloy insurance but will have to wait, winter wheels will be going on soon enough I imagine so can sort it then.
Tyres done nowt to protect, another negative mark for the Potenzas. P Zeroes last time on the S3 took the most of the brunt.

Cheers mate. Followed @Bristle Hound 's advice and went ahead with baby wipes and was truly amazed - they do work. There are now my first step cleanser before applying dedicated interior cleaners on both the cars.

Taken advantage of the good weather and decided to give the S5 its first proper wash in a while.

Coming up to 3 months since I got it and it still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.

So finally managed to get started on some of the scratches around the car today using some ultimate compound. Can see why a DA would be useful now!

Sadly I have no driveway etc to wash car myself so dropped into the local place for a clean (not great but they do a decent job) and then spent a while going over the more needed areas. Looking better but still more work needed but I'm planning to gradually do it before hopefully moving to new place with driveway next year and do a thorough job then.
