Hi,

Had my car remapped today and just wanted to know everyone's opinions on the figures/graphs. I haven't had much chance to drive it yet as I needed to get home and the weather is terrible. I've seen cars make a lot more with seemingly similar mods but also seen Revo Stage 1+ figures which are similar to the below, so just a bit unsure.

Hardware mods are an 034 intake pipe and Forge 57.5mm supercharger pulley, which the guys I used class as a Stage 1+, the guy advised me it wasn't really worth the extra for the DSG remap.

Also, how good does it look on the rollers?! Glad I got up early to wax it :sunglasses:

Hi mate thats a good bhp increase so you should feel a big difference, the dsg map will give you quicker gear changes but you need to give it a good drive to feel how much quicker it is now and your car looks very nice mate.

A very nice looking car mate and well done on getting it tune .

And it looks more like a Stage1 tune rather than 1+. I am also not sure why he has not done the TCU tune (or gearbox) and because your shift points are still stock as you can't use the extra power/boost you are creating.

Personally, I don't agree with his explanation re: the DSG tune. A good tuner wouldn't / shouldn't say that.

That was my thoughts RE the tune, when I expressed a bit of concern he pointed out that APR quote circa 337bhp for a single pulley upgrade (95 ron - which I had a tank full of. filled up last night at a station that didn’t do 97/99 without even thinking... my bad) and this wasn’t a million miles off with dyno discrepancy etc.

Not really sure what to do from here. Whether to take my concerns further and what to say or just get a TCU map and see what happens.

That's my manual on a stage 1 tune (no pulley) from the the same people. When upgraded the pulley and had it tuned from another company I noticed a significant improvement.

That’s good to know, thanks!

A few things to start with; these numbers are all subjective, and open to debate and scrutiny. You'll hardly see same cars running same numbers on the same Dyno and on the same day and under exactly same conditions. So, I wouldn't get too concerned. For example, I am MRC Stage2 and have run 476-492ps on their Dyno and then 408ps, and 525ps on another dyno. A month later I ran 458ps on the same Dyno I had run 525ps earlier - confusing, contradictory and annoying. There are too many variables causing this variance on the day.

Also, did you mean 437 (and not 337). If so, then Yes APR stage1 is approx 427hp / 370tq on 95RON however, their stage1 doesn’t require changing any of the pulleys.

You can definitely ask for the DSG remap - it will smooth out your gear changes, increases the shift points as well as make them quicker allowing you make all that extra torque available until the the new torque limiter.

I am not sure how much the guys charged you but if you look at Revo's website they state somewhere between 400-415ps from a stage 1, which is ECU only.

I’m trying not to get too hung up on the figures as I’m aware there’s just so many variables when it comes to dynos, but more the difference and the delivery / graph shape / driveability.

I’m fairness to The Performance Company I’ve raised my concerns and they’ve given me a very thorough explanation of why it may not be as I expect and what we can do to improve things. I’m certainly not trying to discredit anyone I’m just trying to figure out why it’s not as expected.

They’re not a Revo dealer but used to be so I suppose they may be using the revo figures as a benchmark. Revo figures for stage 1+ (air and pulley) are 415-448PS as a ballpark.

Thanks for your responses! Sounds like I need to refuel with VPower and go for the TCU map

On a recent S4 dyno day we ran a number of cars together with a variety of mods and tunes, so you can see the results do vary. Running 99ron definitely makes a difference.

- B8 S4. IE Stage2. Dual Pulley. 525.5hp.

- CREC B8.5 S4. Unicorn Stage2 Single Pulley 442.8bhp

- B9 S4. JB4 Tune. 441.6hp

- B8.5 S4 MRC Stage2. Single Pulley 458.1bhp

- B8 S4. Stock. 368bhp

- B9 S5. Stock. 329.9hp

- B8 S4 MRC Stage2 Dual Pulley - 502.5bhp

- B8 S4 ARTechnics Stage2. S/C Pulley 473.9bhp

- B5 S4 Full Stage3. 535bhp

- Leon Cupra1. Revo Stage2+. 374hp.

Thanks for the share mate. @AndrewW you can see the two B8.5s, one is mine and the CREC is another member were both stage2, running on VPower but giving slightly different results.

You can then also see the difference between the two Dual Pulley cars, with IE putting slightly higher numbers to MRC

I had been wanting to mention fuel but had a surgery yesterday and the combination of anesthesia and codeine aren't helping me come back to my senses, just yet

The fuel will definitely make a difference even with the existing tune that @AndrewW has.

There are often variables between cars and the hardware/mods fitted such as the difference between the two Dual Pulley cars, with IE putting slightly higher numbers with 57/189mm pulleys to MRC with 57/179mm pulleys.

Thanks for the input everyone, it’s really appreciated.

This morning I had a meeting at one of our clients who are located a bit out of the way so took the S4 and went the back roads. I'm actually really impressed with it in terms or real-world driveability. I can immediately feel the need for the TCU remap however, although it's pretty good in manual, but it's a totally different beast, even compared to my old stage 1.

I think I'll get it booked in for the TCU map and another dyno run once I'm able to get a half day from work or someone to take it for me.

The results look good to me, especially if it was 95RON.

The B8 s-tronic has a higher redline than the B8.5 so the benefits of a TCU remap would be less. If you drive in M a lot and often hit the redline then maybe you could consider it. The other benefit is increasing the torque limit, but based on what Doug from MRC told me, this is probably not essential.

I imagine that the B9 owner would have been disappointed to see that.
MRC dyno'd a B9 S4 and it was less than "as advertised" by Audi.

I feel like taking my car to the next stage and am hoping that MRC will come up with a new "package".

Good to know RE the slightly higher rev limit on the pre facelift!

From the way it was explained to me by the tuner (unfortunately he wasnt in the workshop when I visited so this is the discussion I've had since) there is a torque limit which limits at around 500nm however it's not a "hard stop" and has an effect throughout the rev range, adjusting as it approaches limit to keep the peak figures below the set limit. So when I'm seeing the curve approaching 450nm it may be potentially able to create more but the TCU map is reining it in to give smooth delivery whilst not exceeding the limit eventually. Rather than letting the figures climb to the limit and then just not letting it go any further and upset the delivery.

So on that logic it's not just the peak figures it's capping but performance throughout the range.

I've not heard of the 500nm limit before but the Revo TCU map page for the DL501 does seem to suggest the same.
