F1 Season 2019

I'll just stick to highlights.
Anyone watched the netflix f1 series? Pretty good. Don't know how Grosejan is still in a seat.

Very excited for the new season.....cant wait! :thumbs up:
The extra point for fastest lap is a good idea.
I watch it on Channel 4 so am rather ****** off to learn that from this year only the British Grand Prix will be shown live. :wtf:
Looking into it I could pay a one off £195 to Now TV and get the whole season live.....which allows 4 devices to be registered and can be watched on 2 at the same time.

I can/could, am already/still paying SKY F1 £s, but post Baku 2018, won't! :racer:
My sky bill is already touching £70 with just broad band and original package
Was looking at getting a fire stick with kodi on it

.

Are they doing this for 2019, or are you saying you’d like to see this happen?

Yes it is happening, as long as the driver finishes in the top 10.

For the first time in many years I'm not going to bother watching this season, I'm not paying sky a penny to watch F1:bye:

I enjoyed the first race, and it looks like we going to see a good scrap this season between the lower teams.

It didn’t take long before Ferrari told Leclerc he’s babysitting Vettel this year. Lol

..and it looks like Haas still aren't capable of putting the wheels on Grosjean's car properly.

Good race today, well worth watching.

I won’t say anymore than that till tomorrow, not to spoil it for members watching on channel 4.

.. but I’d say, if you was 50/50 about watching this year, I hope you will enjoy watching the highlights tonight :icon thumright:

I see Mick Schumacher had a F1 test in the Ferrari at Bahrain

Not that the time means anything, fuel levels and car set-ups are unknown, but he was second fastest to Max.

I can see him taking Vettel’s seat when contract runs out?

After 3 thrilling races in a row I'm surprised there hasn't been any chat in here. :anguished:
What a race today - the most eventful of the season so far....but rain always stirs things up a bit. :D
Amazing result for Vettel but not so good for Hamilton.....although for both their team mates it couldn't have got any worse!
Harsh penalty for Hamilton I thought, especially considering the fiasco he had in the pits. Surely a bit more discretion by the stewards as to when a penalty should be applied is called for....and even then the penalty that is given should be appropriate. Take the previous race as an example - Vettel rams Verstappen right up the **** which ruins his podium chances, so the stewards give Vettel a 10 second penalty which was effectively no penalty at all considering he finished a lap down!!

has been a great 3 races - we go at least 1 race every year (different one each time)

Canada was this year which was a superb race depesite the 5 seconds penalty - huge atmospher ein the crowd at the end but kille dthe race with 20 laps to go

huge schuamcher fan so ferrari is my team and hence vettel

So far we have done

Singapore, Austria, Abu Dhabi, Hungary, Canada, Silverstone

Next year will be china or italy with Vietnam year after if the race looks good on TV next year

It was a great race full of incident but unfortunately mainly because of the weather and some drag strip tarmac. Not surprised to hear all the talk about driver changes. I can really see Grosjean being replaced at Haas and Wehrlein would be a great choice. Kvyat may get the recall to the first team after that drive at least for the rest of this season as Gasly just isn't doing it He has been proving all year that he is a different and better driver, and getting on the podium in those difficult circumstances certainly proved it.

Totally agree with all of this. I was hacked off to only be getting highlights as I refuse to pay for Sky, but I'm really enjoying the racing. A really good season with some thrilling races.
Hamilton's penalty was indeed harsh.
As a McLaren fan since the days of James Hunt I am glad to be seeing maybe the first signs of a revival in the team. Early days yet though.
I'm disappointed in Renault's performance.
I'm enjoying seeing Leclerc driving well against Vettel, this last race excepted!
I'm happy to see Mercedes continue to do well, but oh so glad that the competition is closer.

That's 4 edge of the seat races in a row now.....in fact I almost fell off my couch at one point! :openmouth:
What an amazing drive by Hamilton! That for me is thoroughly deserving of his 6th world title this year.
Taking nothing away from Verstappen though because he also drove an excellent race, and both of them were in a different class today.

I don't think any driver has ever been caught with a 62 point lead in the championship.

Yep when you are 118 points behind your team mate at the summer break I suppose something has to be done.
I thought Kvyat might get the chance because he is much further ahead in the championship.....but maybe it's a case of he already had his chance previously.
I'm really looking forward to Spa. :)

Yet another excellent race today from the viewers perspective. :sunglasses: Plus the farce of yesterday's Q3 was also quite funny to watch. :D
Very well done to Leclerc, a very popular winner.....and he done it in the best possible place for the team.
Have to say though....over the course of the weekend the stewards showed a very obvious bias towards Ferrari at their home GP. ;)

not sure on that Ron

Vettel qualifying lap was deemed inconclusive so FIA cant issue a penalty if in doubt - was epxlained on the grid walk by FIA
Vettel got handed the worst penalty applicable - which was deserved (and I am a ferrari fan)
the leclerc squeeze was called racing and hamilton shouldn't moan - thought he had learned from canada around maoning and trying to influence
hamilton made a rare mistake and out braked himself as his tyres went and have no answer to straight line speed

Singapore will be redbulls to lose I think - high downforrce streey circuit

I don't have Sky so didn't see any grid walk, but the tv pictures speak for themself and Vettel clearly had all 4 wheels over the line so was exceeding track limits. All of Channel 4's commenting team agreed and even Stefano Domenicali joked that his shadow was inside the line. :D
Had that been any other car but a red one, then there is no doubt in my mind that a penalty would have been given.

Yes Vettel received a penalty for hitting Stroll, but he caused a collision so it had to happen. Stroll received a lesser penalty for his subsequent unsafe rejoin because he did not cause a collision.

Fair enough on Leclerc squeezing Hamilton off the track for which he was shown the black & white flag, which is a new one on me and I've been watching for 30 years......but then when he missed the corner at Curva Grande no action was taken.

I am clear in my mind that bias was shown to Ferrari at Monza when it was possible to do so.....but its over and done with now and I'm looking forward to Singapore. :)

agree Ron looking forward to Singapore and Hamilton will win the champsionship - just a question of when

Yeah the FIA did a small interview on the grid walk and explained why they didn't issue the penalty - they said in car footage showed the front right not exceeding track limits fully so was questionable - didn't matter anyway as Vettel ****** up his own race

how wrong I was around redbull being stromngest at Singa - with the ferrari upgrades they wporked a treat

I am a huge ferrari fan so the result was awesome - I did feel for Charles but dont think the team favoured vettel it was just vettel had nothing to lose running third where as Charles did

Hamilton should have pitted earlier and pushe dthe team to do so - blaming the team alone is not the full story

I really like charles but all the fan boys thinking he is number 1 after 2 wins kinda sums up F1 - vettel showed true class with the undercut, stonking overtakes (taking risks through the field) and classy restarts after SC - espcially the third one

still a question of when hamiltion will win the WDC

also Hamiltons post interview was very bizzare saying merc do seem to have the appetite of ferrari at the moment - for me its classic merc strategy - have a hugely fast car at the beginnig of the seasosn rack up the points and the gaps and slow down delevloment to focus on next years car - its the viscious cycle of development

booked singapore GP for next year also - spendig so much time there with work means i couldn't resist exeriencing it again

Well.....who would have predicted a Mercedes 1 - 2 before the start of that race, which means they keep their perfect record of victory at Sochi for 6 years in a row. :openmouth:
Luck certainly played its part though.
Vettel looked unusually happy and not bothered I thought for somebody that had failed to finish. There definitely seems to be growing tension between the 2 Ferrari drivers, so could be some fireworks to come before the end of the season. :D

Been working in South America for last few weeks and last stop has been Mexico city

Currently sat in he lounge waiting for my delayed BA flight but managed to grab a cheap ticket for the qualifying today - which was an experience in Itself

I was in stand 2a along the pit Straight so not the best seat but for $30 can’t complain

Event itself is very well organised but you are confined to your stand - can’t roam the circuit and other stand areas

Beer was about £4 a pint which is high compared to city price

Merchandise ridiculously expensive

If I went for a full weekend it would need to be the stadium section I think

Metro is dirt cheap - 20p and serves the city well and stops right outside the circuit

And for me penalty we’ll deserved - he should have just backed off and kept Pole

In karting you are taught flags so the dashboard excuse doesn’t stack up and his post interview and lack of regard for yellows probably didn’t help him

Look forward to the race tomorrow
