S3 8p gearbox whine

Hi
I am a first time poster an have acquired an s3 07 with 47 k full audi history 1 owner

Just wanted other owners experience of a whine In 1sr an 2nd gear under load and over run can hear it just when audio off an heater fan very low

I have changed gearbox oil with genuine gearbox oil from audi dealer

Old oil came out still a bit goldey
No bad for 12 years sposed 2b lifetime fill anyhow but done it to check things out no other probs gear change is smooth

Someones been launching the **** out of the car sounds like u need you gearbox refurbed

I have a whine on my 08 (pre fl) S3 too. Kinda just accepted it until I get around to cracking the ‘box open and refurbishing it one day

Check it's not the Transfer box. When they fail, you know about it!

Am I thinking right that if it's only in first and second gear it shouldn't be the transfer box?

Sorry not replied made a vid but sound can't be heard as is so slight over raod an engine noise
I am monitoring it and have noticed its slightly louder when warmed up
It may be just me
I have read this kind of noise could go on 4 years or just pack up
Gear change is silky smooth and noise is no worse
So will keep an eye on it

Ta I am keeping an eye on mine 4 now done 2k miles since ordinal post not getting any worse an gear change snnoth

Am relieved I may buy another box 2nd hand an get it refurbed
Swap it over refurb mine an sell mine on

As all is well at the moment apart frome slight whine am keeping an eye on it

Whilst I might be wrong, I think this shin modification is for the older Mk 4 Golf or A3 8L series of cars.

I have a whine coming from my S3 8P with DSG. Thinking it might just be normal but not sure. I can hear it every so often and found a video of another car with a similar sound below. The guy in the end says it's the Torque Converter Pump??

Sorry m8 mines a manual but mine whines most in 2nd but not getting any worse
I am keeping an eye on it and will post again if anything happens

That's cool, narrows it down further then to something else like the Torque Converter Pump
