Next Gen RS3, or not ???

Apologies, if i am starting a thread already covered a few times already.
Dilemma is do i order an all singing/dancing RS3 now or ,wait and see if or what , the new RS3 has to offer
I've seen the heavily disguised A3/S3 as i'm sure we all have, will there even be a new RS3, will it still have the 5 pot or will it be toned down with an electric motor to push up the horse level
I'm nearly there to buy 1 outright new with all the toys but not sure on the toned down exhaust thingy
or just buy 1 a year old with all the options that hasn't had the restriction on the
emissions.
More apologies to all you on this forum as i am a ford man but need a change and the current RS3 just ticks every box there is for me

New RS3 will be at least two years away. Go for either a PFL RS3 or secondhand FL if you want noise. These latest cars with GPF seem too quiet.

Second what @Doc said. Personally I’d go for a used FL model, with a lot of options! The small things like the Design pack is a must....makes all the difference inside.

I’m in a new RS3 and loving it. So so good!

Of course there will be some lovely new cars released during ownership but that’s inevitable. The reasons you bought the car should still stand.

New electric model is in the pipeline so now is the time to buy these imo
Going to be highly sought after in a few years.

Someone posted in another thread that the RS3 order books had closed. I assume this was incorrect or does your dealer have an existing build slot?
Answer to your question is don't wait for the next big thing as no-one can know whether it will be better or not. Performance cars will hopefully adopt hybrid but with the push to electric, who knows?

I have just seen the Mrc tuned 2019 Gpf stage 1 tune and it is very disappointing and only making 450 ps, that’s a lot different from the 2018 pre GPF model.

after the saloon ideally, and panther black is tickling my fancy with black pack, not sure you can get the black pack though with this colour though, does it have to have the aluminium pack or not cannot quite see where to add it on the config on the audi website

My TTRS is now gone. 17000 glorious miles and to say I miss it is an understatement. I might have made a mistake selling. I’m now looking at cars at higher price points and realising they don’t compare...looks, handling, interior, noise, pace...my stage 1 TTRS had it all. I’d highly recommend them to all on here if you can cope with occasional rear seats.

RS3 Saloon would be the only car for me , im an old boy now, it has the toned down looks im after with the power you would not expect from a 4 door saloon, the Rs Focus is out, been there done that 10 years ago, BMW M3 done that was ok but a bit boring, sportback RS3 i just think screams young hooligan or any version of the TT (which is good dont get me wrong) but not me.

As my Mrs says, "A short fat old man getting out of 1 of these when your expecting tall, muscular ,young man,just aint right, you need a robin reliant at your age you daft ****". I do love a good wife

I guess i have to agree although i aint that old LOL
Gonna keep looking around but black with black pack is defo the colour im after if i can find the right 1 with the £10k + worth of options
or if my cash dont burn a hole in my pocket, may wait it out ( the 2 years ) to get a glimpse of the next RS3 offerings then decide old or new/nearly new.

nissan GTR but a bit out of my price Range and a bit expensive to run

Top 3 replacements...that’s a difficult one. I really need rear seats. They only get used occasionally, but they do get used.

Not going to lie, I’ve been looking hard at 991.2 GTS’s. But for the money, you’re nearly at 992’s. I just can’t believe they’re worth twice an RS3/TTRS.

I’m very fortunate that I get to borrow a 997 turbo in the meantime. But I miss the 5cyl noise.

You’d be surprised...it’s not even close to the TT in a straight line. The old auto ‘box really lets it down too next to the more modern dual clutch efforts.

The most impressive thing about it is its handling. Considering it’s 13 years old, it’s still better than most modern sports cars.

You could wait for the new Cayman GT4 if you don't mind manual, RWD car (or get an older one). Other cars with supposedly good exhaust noises around that price range (some would need to be used) are Jag F Type SVR, Merc C63S AMG, Lexus RC F/LC500, Maserati Gran Turismo and Nissan GTR (but you'll have to mod the exhaust). If you can stretch your budget, you could potentially also get a PFL Audi R8 or Mercedes AMG GT.

I just realised you said you need rear seats so that took off half of my suggestions lol. Yeah the GT4 is very hard to get, apparently they don't make any money or very little money on it so they don't offer it to many people. The used ones of the last gen GT4 have held their value quite well.

I've only had my RS3 for 6 months and I agree, it's very hard to replace it. You have to look for special cars. The engine sounds great, especially after the PCW mod and the more miles I do, the more it opens up. Random note, I swear you hear the most noise if you open the rear left window.

It’s not that special...but I’m excited for it.

Definitely hit the button and get one. They’re stunning cars. FL is better handling car and sounds great. PFL has more of a muscle car feel to it and the engine is ASBO loud. You won’t regret either.

SSC defo overpriced
went to town on the options list on the Audi site adding to the RS3 sport edition, with the exception of adding the top speed limit thingy for £1600 and it came to the same price as the 2500 miler SSC car

I've usually been a serial car changer every 2 to 3 years like clockwork, always desperate to change and even looking after 1 year in some cases.
I'm approaching 3.5 years with the RS3 and find myself in the unusual position of still REALLY liking my car and not having an itch to change.
Sure I could change into a face lift, but that would cost north of £15k and the car would be 95% the same.
But from the day I collected the car to even now, the car feels 'special' and makes me smile every time I strike it up and hear that 5 pot fire up.
These really are stunning cars aren't they

Nearly sold my S3 to them when I changed so glad I didn’t, their offer went from 28k which I said I’d sell the car for, then the day before dropping off apparently their ‘buyer’ had pulled out, still wanted my car but for no more than 24k. Huge waste of time and effort, ApexPerformanceCars are also liked with that group, a lot of people also seem to think their companies are a front for something else from what I’ve heard

Ugh, you guys are killing me with your RS3 love. I'm about to hit the 4th year of my 5 year lease on my 2015 Nardo S3 sedan which means look to turn it over and getting itchy to upgrade to an RS3 (wanting to get it in dark red mica with black pack). And all I can think about is go RS3 now, or hold on until the new one comes out with all the new tech that trickles down from the A8?? Problem is, it's gonna be 2022 until we see that new model come out, and I never like to buy first iteration of a new model anything, typically. Always full of bugs and issues. Hmmm....I think I just answered my own dilemma....

Yeah for sure. These 6 months with the car have flown by and I've really enjoyed it, feels way more special than my old S3. You hardly see RS3's too, at least where I am, I see more RS6's and R8's than RS3's (RS4's have been the most rare). Not sure how reliable the car is long term but it does seem like a car to keep. The next RS3 doesn't really interest me, we pretty much know how the interior will look and I prefer this one, with regulations it won't sound as good either. The new R8 sounds pretty bad for a V10 because they limited it to 3k revs at idle. There are cars coming up that would be similar but too big I think, like the new M3 and maybe C63S Saloon will be 4WD too.

Man that must cost you a lot. I get what you mean, I'm always looking at the next car but keeping this one probably makes the most sense financially and its a great car. What did you move on to after the RS3?

I May regret this

I went for the saloon for several reasons, I had an s3 sportback, the saloon looks like the old rs4 which I liked a lot and one of my fav cars, I’m a bit old for the sportback and the saloon feels more grown up mad but true, apparently some people say the saloon handles better than the sportback although I’m sure that’s a myth, I think saloon looks a lot nicer.

I guess the only issue that concerns me is if Audi either ditch the Audi TT or chsngevit to electric only then the only car using the 5 cylinder engine will be the rs3, which will be costly to the manufacturer, so they’ll probably could well look at a boosted s3 engine as the mag suggests. If they do, I wouldn’t buy it.

I’d say a 2 litre with big electric motor is more likely, but let’s hope not, need to stick with the 5 cylinder engine.
