Hi everyone,

First time posting and not the most clued up guy with these things (hence joining the forum to learn and for advice) so bare with me please.

I just got my 11 plate A3 remapped (stage 1) at the performance centre in the North East. They seemed quite recommended however I got to admit I was expecting a bit more. Just wanted to get people's thoughts and advice on the results:

172 BHP to 195 BHP
355NM to 420 NM

Thanks

Hi, welcome to the forum!

I'm no expert on remap numbers however I know they can vary from car to car depending on age, condition of parts, mods etc but looking at the Avon Tuning website as a benchmark as to what they expect from a stage 1 remap it looks pretty similar to your numbers (give or take a few for slight differences) but have a look at this.
https://www.avontuning.co.uk/tuning/audi/a3-8p-mk2-2008-2012/20-tdi-cr-170hp

Hope this helps! Welcome once again, it's a great place to learn, I've learned alot from this forum already!

Figures don't tell the full story. The car should pull harder from lower down and across the rev range, increasing the power delivery noticeably.
if you don't feel a difference then take it back to them. If you do feel a difference then you've probably got a good remap and figures shouldn't matter, they only bragging rights down the pub/on forums anyway.

My 170pd made me happy after measuring 182hp.
Stock hp was 155, so 27hp increase in stage 1.
If tryed change exhaust got around 20nm but lost 2-3hp, on straight pipe, with dpf delete.

Thanks guys for the replies.

It felt like there was more pull in 3rd and 4th gear. Didn't get too much chance to get into 5th 6th with open road as it was rush hour when I brought it back. Will go for a drive again tonight.

Interesting about the figures being more for bragging rights...you would think people would want realistic over inflated?

Daft question, how much more 'pull' should I feel?

Dpf gut and delete then re”remap”
Post back figures.

If you do want to compare numbers, mine is a 2010 170tdi Quattro sportback and when i had mine remapped it achieved 212bhp and 448NM torque.
The difference though was noticeable instantly, every gear pulls better and you can feel the extra power.

Also, if you are really watching to feel the difference you may not feel that much increase. Almost as if expecting too much.
It’s when you are on your normal drive routes and you put your foot down without concentrating on the pulling power, you will feel the difference.

Was it a generic map or a custom tune?

You can check my launch on early stage 1 with 180ish hp 0-100 smth like 6sec, but your quattro would do a little better.

Was this a custom remap on the rolling road or just a stock remap without rolling road?

Remaped stage 1 on normal road, without dpf core, and straight pipe with original pipe of 55mm

Hi like you I'm no expert and I'm here for the same reasons. I've just had my 2008 TDI RE MAPPED and I've looked into my previous Audi having the same thing done and for a stage 1 the figures do sound right with what I've been told.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Much appreciated. I can confirm they do their own custom maps and yes to the dyno. My car has done 96k.

Having driven it a bit more you can definitely feel it in 3rd to 5th gear. 25mph to 70mph. I think as prt57 said I was maybe expecting a bit too much based of what some people had told me prior.

Cheers again

dont forget Diesels are not really about BHP but more torque. Your map has given you nearly 20% increase in Torque which is well worth having.
Maps are just what they say, usually a choice of lots of routes to a simula place. They all differ, some are high torque low BHP, some visa versa, some will peak torque at mid range , some rev to the redline to get the best.
They are not about Max figures. someone who peaks out at 220 bhp at the 5k revs may not have a car as fast on the road as someone else with a lot less BHP but a high peak Torque at 3k revs if you see what i mean?
Very small adjustments will make a huge difference when you looking for the max from a map. I did some experiments with my 3.2 years ago the dyno and got exactly 10bhp more with Tesco 99 over Tesco std. OK its only about 4% on a 3.2 petrol but it shows how little things make a difference like Truck diesel and Premium diesel maybe.
