can you find out a VIN online anywhere via a reg number?

Sold an old car a few months back, lost the log book though so getting a V62 today to send off to get the log book and then hand it off to the new buyer at last and tell DVLA that I’ve got rid as I still seem liable for the tax lol

The form needs the VIN Chassis number and I’ve got no idea.

Am I missing something here?
Why not get whoever has your car to tell you the VIN number?
Of course you are still liable for the tax....and everything else because you are still the registered keeper.
How have you managed to sell your if you don't have the V5C?

I would suggest seeing if you can find any old service invoices if you have them, many of mine contain the VIN as well as the reg plate.

Not just tax your liable for but also any speeding tickets, parking fines etc
