After 3088 miles, I have achieved 45.38mpg. Most recent tankful was 47.46mpg over 570 miles. Driving is a mixture of communitng on A30/A4 into West London (50%), open road driving (30%) and occassional Motorway (20%). Current tank, after 300 miles it is showing 49.9mpg on the DIS so probably about 48 or there abouts based on previus observations between DIS and actual fuel used calculations. Only using Shell fuel (standard not Ultra).

Car is a 40TDi Sport Avant with 18" Wheels. Compared to my manual C& 204 Ultra Avant I am at least 10% better on fuel consumption

Couldn’t resist taking a photo. This after a trip this lunchtime, about half the mileage was M4 and the rest a mixture of other road types

No the A/C was on Auto (always is). Stock 40TDi Sport Avant

A6 C8 50 Avant s-Line 19”

Town / urban. 30-35 mpg UK
Motorway cruise 42-46 mpg UK
Overall first 4000 34 mpg
Unrestricted 17-28 mpg NOT UK

Cruise control on the lengthy 50 mph roadworks averages approx 48 mpg.

The overall and urban could be greatly improved with toned down acceleration. But I’d have purchased a 45 if I wanted that profile of product.

In hire 40’s, they are a lovely engine, were great in an the A4 hirea and economical. Even I was getting 50 mpg in these. They are just too small for the heavier A6 chassis and was getting better MPG out of my fully loaded up C8 50 than a fully loaded up hire C8 40 A6 avant.

I fear the Ring visit will not be until 2020 until reliability of the C8 and 50 has been well proven. Only 4500 miles so far. Overseas trips limited to pleasure only. I simply don’t trust it for business critical travel yet.

On same engine but with 19" wheels I have been getting 47.9mpg on average and on last motorway trip 55mpg!

I have been logging my fill ups / mileage since new over on Fuelly - http://www.fuelly.com/car/audi/a6/2019/cccc/910905

Its only a 3 mpg of from my old Golf which I think is pretty impressive what with it having more metal and more power. I wonder how far then can go with making cars more efficient.

I had an A6 S-Line 40tdi avant for the day today (dealer trying to keep me from cancelling my order).

Took it to work which is 150mile round trip (nearly all motorway). I had cruise control set at 83mph (but couldn't maintain all the time due to traffic). On the way there got 54mpg and on way back 56mpg. Was really impressed, although still being drawn to a diesel hybrid E300de estate currently. Not sure what it is as the A6 is better in nearly every way, but I'm really taken by the hybrid drive train with diesel

Manchester to Exeter yesterday, 45 TFSI S-Line. Adaptive cruise mostly set to 80mph, various bits of 50mph roadworks on the M6 and M5, averaged 47.8mpg. Pretty happy with that.

Thanks for that. Thinking of making the 45 my next engine.
