Drives me absolutely bonkers - as soon as you move off, the doors lock. Is there anyway to disable this? Ive scoured the MMI system and cannot see an option for disabling this
Be careful with this one mate, we all know that if insurance companies can get out of paying you out they will. Take house insurance, if you have left a door unlocked and then get burgled they try to get out of paying you out! So let's say you got car jacked at the lights and they opened your door and dragged you out, the insurance may ask "Why didn't the door auto lock as it should?" You see where this is going???Thanks everyone - I dont know anyone who has one unfortunately. I am looking at getting a reversing camera retrofitted so will probably ask them then if they can put it as an option for me.
Not necessarily. In an accident where the driver may be unconscious and there is need to pull them out due to safety or injury, their doors should be unlocked to allow access mate. You may not have time for the jaws of life to get there to remove the driver. Even if it's through the passenger door/s. And even more of a reason to not lock if the driver's door is crumpled and can't open. There's 3 more doors that you can access the driver. If a car jacker wants to get to you while you're stationary, they'll get you out quick enough. Doors locked or not.If you're in an accident (severity where you need to be dragged out) the doors would be crumpled anyway, windows would have to be smashed to get you out so the doors auto locking is a mute point.

The guy was pointing a gun at my window, so I hopped out and let him take the car, Mr Insurance Representative. If you think an insurance company is going to weasel out of insuring you cos your life was threatened for your car, you're insane. Using your analogy, the insurance company would also reneg out of your claim cos you were in your house at the time of a burglary and assumed you'd have a gun to protect yourself??? Otherwise, no payout??? Same reasoning, you're trying to get out of your house from threatening burglars who are inside and the doors are deadlocked and you can't get out! Locking a car whilst driving is dangerous, should you get into an accident and need to get out, and can't. Should someone threaten you whilst you're in the car, you can then lock it if that helps.Be careful with this one mate, we all know that if insurance companies can get out of paying you out they will. Wouldn't work as well in this country, not that many carry guns!
