Dropped the roof box on for a weekend away without wifey or kids, camping and mountain biking in the Purbeck hills in Dorset with an old mate and fellow S3 owner (don't see many in Floret Silver - he's got a good 'un - needs to get on top of his exhaust tips and detailing regime though - shocking, lol).
The S3 Sportback with roof rails is a ruddy versatile motor - big(ish) heavy poly-cotton air-frame tent and all my camping clobber, plus a bike thrown in the back with the rear seats down (plenty of sheets used!) and room to spare. Weather was....interesting....but that made the biking more fun. Great weekend, good company, lots of pub food and decent ale, and a very nice bit of England's green and pleasant land to visit. We only managed 25k of biking (+ a few miles of walking to the pub and back in the evenings), but in that weather, and climbing some steep hills off-road (we climbed about 2,000 ft) was more than enough for my old legs. The quick downhill bits were fun though! Knackered, but in a good way
We've agreed on a road trip to Le-Mans next year - looking forward to that. Anyone on here planning on heading across?
