evening everyone

I picked up my second new to me car in a momth today and I have to say the Quattro is far better then the normal 2wd. Still trying to get used to the S Tronic box but I’m sure it’ll take some time

One thing this car hasn’t got that the other did have was google maps on the mmi screen

I didn’t notice any SIM card in the mmi unit so I’m assuming I should be to do this again.

Any tips on how to sort this as it’s one thing I will miss is the traffic updates etc.

SIM card goes in the CD player in the glove box

I know. But I’m sure the other never had one, or not that I noticed. Wounder if Audi will give me the one out the car I handed back

The SIM is embedded hence the reason you didn’t see one in your previous car. The Audi Connect licences may have expired on your new car, which would explain why Google Maps don’t work. Check the bottom left hand corner of the MMI screen, you should see two mobile signals, one is your mobile and the other is Audi Connect.

Makes sense now. So I just need the licence, any idea how much it costs ??

Yeah I have a signal bar with lte next to it or something but non for my phone as I never connected it

Before we go down the licensing route, are the navigation settings set to display Google Maps?

Congrats on the car swap and here's hoping this one is stress free for you. I saw you were looking at rejecting after getting the DPF issue. Did the dealership put up any resistance to the changeover or were they good about it all? Hopefully they double checked the tyres this time.

On the maps front, if you have an Android phone, just plug that in to the usb and use google maps that way or apple maps if with iPhone. You'll get the traffic updates and rerouting and get to experience the google maps magical mystery tours of the British countryside.

If it is sd card based sat nav you'll need to contact Audi CS to get the licence renewed. If it is MMI Plus then all you need to do is set your account up for the connect services. You will need to do this for sd based sat nav too...

It is sd based I believe. Will pop out and double check in 10 mins or so

I have a my Audi account is this the same or something different?

At first the manager tried the you have to give us a chance to fix it first but once I confirmed ( via citizens advice ) that I don’t in the first 30 days he made no attempt to try stop me

The light come on for the dpf again yesterday and a Audi tech looked at it while I was test driving the new one and he said a new dpf required.

Also the suspension was sitting slightly lower driver side. Someone on here said there’s was and that they had it into Audi and they couldn’t find anything. On the new one there both the same so it as far as I can say it doesn’t sound normal.

Heated wing mirror needed replacing.

On Wednesday I took it through a car wash as it was minging ( I know I know, I didn’t have time to wash it my self ) and after the car wash there was water slooshing around the tailgate when opening and shutting. Had to take out the plastic things on the bottom side of the tail gate to drain the water out.

There was a couple of other issues like gearbox didn’t like going into 1st and 2nd going down the gears. They didn’t look into this as it would have to be in for a couple of days

Over all the new car is much much smoother. Happy with the result and can’t fault the 2 sales guys I’ve delt with. They’ve been fantastic, then again even the manager was spot on when I went up to see him after he said I was right and that he wanted to see me to look through there stock so if anyone in and around Newcastle need a new Audi I’d recommend popping into them

Thanks for all your input everyone. Managed to link account today. Still no google maps etc I had to ring up and get a free 12 months subscription so will be active over the next couple days.

Just need to link the car to my app now to use the Audi app for stuff and check service history etc.

Sorry it this seems dumb but I’ve just been back out in my car and I had to re enter my pin for the connect. Is this normal ??

Is there a option to save the pin ?

I find this happens when the app has been updated

I wouldn’t mind that. This seems to be every start of the car. I did see 2 small boxes when logging in. Must be one of them I’m ment to tick

ISTR there is a tick box about remembering your log in details. Haven't had to re-enter them sine first setting the car up.

Have the SOS button in your car? If not then only service information will be available and, if the car is pre owned, you may need to ask the dealership to make you the key holder first:

Not sure why it's logging you out each time, mine doesn't do this. I assume there is only one account?

I’ve just found a setting on the my audiapp

Automatic login on the mmi

I’m guessing this could be why i have to go into Audi connect and click my name every single time. Will turn this on and report back next time I enter car as it says the login process on the mmi using your MyAudi account data is automatic asoon as your car has a wifi connection.

Anyone able to check on there MyAudi app and see if this is turned on or off to confirm this?

Turned off on mine

Ok so maybe not then

Audi did say it may due to the fact I don’t have a subscription at the moment so I will wait untill that starts working again and go from there.

I think that is only for apps, such as Amazon music, that use data. You would then need either a data plan, or another Sim card or use your phone. Don't think this is relevant to your login within the car, but worth trying anyway..

I’ve got plenty of data to burn on my contract as it’s unlimited. Will give it a try tonight see if it works

If not only thing I can do is wait till it becomes active as Audi said it might be that. If it isn’t then a mmi reset might sort it

Can confirm this didn’t help the login issue.

I will wait untill it’s all up and running and report back.

Audi connect is now up and running so I have the google maps back

But I still can’t figure out how to get the info on the my Audi app telling me if windows are closed etc. Audi have set me as the owner ( had a email to confirm it ) I do have the 10 diget scratch code with the key but don’t have the sos feature so believe I can’t enter it but I shouldn’t need too as Audi set me as owner

Car is a 66 plate

Any tips on how to view the info on the my Audi app ?

Has your car a SOS button in the overhead console? Mine is also a 66 plate and hasn't SOS thus all you will get is the service information. I did post this in reply #20.
The scratch off can only be used for the myaudi windows, lock/unlock, oil and fuel levels etc. with SOS equipped vehicles...
