For anyone wanting to fit power folding mirrors please see the guide above.

At the moment it only covers folding from the switch but when I get time I'll test the auto folding on lock/unlock.

If anyone spots any mistakes please let me know.

Warren, you sir are a legend in your own lifetime! I’ve been following your progress with this. I’ll be looking to do this at some point this year :)

If anybody with colour matched housings would like to do this mod drop me a DM, I have a passenger side one up for grabs ready to bolt on.

That looks a good mod to do and a good write up about how to do it. I'm useless at soldiering so I'll have to pass on it which is a pity.

If you use the aftermarket ones there is only one wire that needs soldering/joining.

@warren9022 excellent guide. I have made it a sticky so it’s easier for other members to find in this section. Many Thanks :)

Haven’t had chance yet mate, wiring would be exactly the same but you’d just need to tap into the safe signal cable in the door or at the central locking junction box behind the lower A pillar trim instead of going through the switch. Will have a look when the weather gets a bit better.

Is the mirror loom removable? In other words could I nick one out of a facelift a3, and swap it with my pre facelift mirror loom?

I don’t see why not but you’d have to change the switch and de-pin the connectors behind the A pillar trims to allow you to pull the loom through from inside the car. Would probably be easier just to run cables straight from the relay to the switch/safe signal and mirrors.

Ok thanks, will ask my friend the audi electrics master tech.

Don't know if this is any use to anybody in this section but I have done this on my 8p ( alas not with fold / unfold / by key ) .
But I have 2 spare modules that do allow you to do the power folding so if anyone needs just pm me , these modules I have end in M

The modules you have can’t be used on an 8L, only an 8P. No modules needed on the 8L.

Thanks for that info as I wasn't sure with them so I stuck them in the 8P classifieds , have you managed to get the lock / unlock with fob sorted as I would be very interested on how it is done , I know Ash was working on something but it seems to have went dead now but I know it can be done

It’s quite simple on the 8L to get them folding/unfolding with lock/unlock, it’s just basically a single cable from the safe signal in the door to the relay bypassing the switch altogether. What I would want though is to have the mirrors still folding with the switch as well as with the fob (and the ability to turn the auto folding off with the switch). I haven’t worked out how to integrate the switch into it all to give you full control.

It would be completely different on an 8P with having the modules in the doors but I have absolutely no knowledge of the way the 8P works to even give you a nod in the right direction.

Cheers for all that info , I never knew there was so much off a difference between the workings off the 8L n 8P . Guess I thought it would have been easier with the 8P with new technology installed but everyday a School day , cheers again . I will come time print off all your post and read it as it looks a good detailed post

Hello just bought myself some a6 mirrors to do mine, as iv alloy mirrors...

Did you ever sort out the folding once you lock the doors after? Not sure How old this thread is sorry.

Do you have a guide or something? How can we succeed like yours?
You have to get ur module recoded using Vcp and eeprom , i bought mine from a guy in Blackpool via Ebay who had already done it to his module . So i dont have a guide i just know it can be done
