My Audi's broken - P0011 Error

Just flashed up on the dash round the corner from my house, not going very fast at all and ECS light came on with rev limiter (Do not exceed 4,000 RPM). When I got it home it was idling rough on the driveway.

Pretty lucky the warranty has 10 days left on it

In Audi now so fingers crossed nothing major, VW assist said it's only happened on a handful of RS3's and the code is saying Camshaft Adjuster Fault so not sure if that's a big job or just a sensor has gone somewhere.

Think the £450 quote for extended warranty is looking like a good deal now!

Hope it gets sorted soon pal. I’d say £450 for an extended Audi warranty is a bargain they wanted nearly £2k to extend on my RS5. I’ve just done a quote on my RS3 and it’s £450 - I’ll most likely take that up when I’m out of factory warranty as I don’t intend to modify it.

Exactly the same thing happened to my RS around 25k miles not long ago, car was recovered to audi and they replaced the camshaft adjuster iirc the part was only around £60 but it was all covered under warranty, I will try to dig the invoice out when I get back home.

So nothing major thankfully, quoted at £360 to fix out of warranty but was the cam shaft adjuster or something like that. Should have it back next week.

Went for extended warranty also, £640 in the end, no excess, full component but think it’s worth it with a car like this.

I think I'm having a similar problem (2016 rs3 22k miles), was driving the car at around 50mph around 2k rpm, when I felt a slight dip in power then the 'do not exceed 4k rpm' flashed up.

I'm getting a missfire on idle but otherwise the car drives totally fine (only driven it below 4k rpm and not driven it under load).

Car was serviced a week prior, checked oil level and it was at max.

I have since replaced 3 things;

1. camshaft adjuster solenoid - deleted the codes then started the car, it idled totally smooth for around 3 minutes before the epc light reappeared and the rough idle returned.

2. Intake camshaft sensor - again deleted the codes, the car ran smoothly for 10 minutes before the epc light reappeared and the rough idle was back.

3. Exhaust camshaft sensor - same as story as above.

I'm wondering if it was a timing issue such as streched chain or jumped a tooth would the idle issue be intermittent?

I’ve seen a video in YouTube that you can check the wear on the timing chain with vcds. If I remember there are values in some box 1-10 I think and a value will be given to the effectiveness of it, 10 being high and needs addressing.
I think I have this info correct but if the more advance vcds users can correct this feel free.

Can't seem to access block 08 meas. Data on vcds as it's greyed out for some reason, managed to access the attached figures through adv data block but unsure if it's right?
