I've owned the car for a year now and still not figured how to open the cubby holes in the boot. Should they be vertical or horizontal? I suspect I'm being to gentle but they are a bit tricky. Any tips please? Thanks!

Turn the latch clockwise (will be horizontal) off the top of my head and then will open. It's only a 90 degree turn

It needs a good tug especially if it’s never been opened before. It’s all flexible stuff you you will unlikely break anything.

Cubby holes? Do some of you get two? I feel cheated.

ive 2, one on N/S thats open with a net that goes half way up. The one on the O/S has a door that covers the spare wheel tools and TPMS module.

Wth I'm so puzzled still...

For those interested, there are two on the right, one one the left.

I can open 1/3 at least - front right one is easy.

Red circles is cubby holes. One on right side is for tool and jacks.

Yellow circles is hooks for the luggage net and are not cubby holes. Nothing behind them.

Ah, looks like you get extra ones on the SportBack. Now I am jealous. :friendly wink:

Conflated two different posts anyway can relax and stop looking for secret cubby holes.

Lol! Really? That would explain why I'm struggling!

You can see the net is already in place. No need for those other handles. I was under the impression that the towing hook thing lurked somewhere. Where is that thing?

Towing hook should be on the right side cubby holes. It’s in a leather wrap/wallet and Velcro straps holding it in place

That’s how the net should be used as I was told but the side hooks is never used.

Toolkit on the right. Has towing eye, screwdriver etc. Also find some modules down there. Not sure which ones.

Really appreciate the help here guys. Thanks a lot.

Forgot to say. Red plastic cord in right side cubby hole is the emergency release for the fuel flap if it gets stuck.

As we are here...

Looks as though you have the interior lighting pack & storage pack.

The LED lights in the boot can be pushed down/in to a certain extent - they are spring loaded. If you lift the boot floor board (eg to get at the space saver wheel) then you can rest it on those lights.

There should be space next to the space saver wheel for your litre of oil.
