Hi guys,

Sorry I know the title is a bit iffy but I understand the Rs3 exhaust is valve controlled for example in dynamic it is open in 1st gear then shuts off till a certain rpm.

Is there a way to programme the valves so they stay completely open on dynamic regardless of Rev and then you can keep it standard in comfort?

Thanks guys for your help so far

Cete valve controller or similar will do it eg closed in comfort, open in dynamic.

There are exhaust valve delete plugs on eBay for £30. Just type this in the search bar, however they will keep the valves permanently open so be prepared for extremely loud cold starts and with secondary decats the noise from the 5 pot is enhanced even more.
Had nothing but compliments on the car all though there is a slight drone on motorway runs

sorry for the thread hijack.. (however)

I really want to purchase a CETE active valve thingy for my FL rs3 saloon, I have the sport exhaust already and love the noise it makes..

I have a few questions if anyone can help?

1. as I already have the sports exhaust will it make a noticeable difference?
2. I'm extremely handy with spanners, however there is something about opening up my new car that makes me shudder.. how easy it it to fit to a UK car as all instructions are for LHD? I really don't wanna b*gger about with loosing clips. anyone near me wanna help?
3.will audi detect it?, will they get 'the hump' if they find it installed when I go for my first service in September?
4. is it worth the buck? ( I think I know the answer) its working out at £342 delivered at the mo

Cheers..

Andy..

1) Yes in low revs situations it makes a difference
2) easy if you can remove trim with no issues.

3) unless they remove the passenger side left hand trim they’ll be unaware.
It has a shut down facility now I believe too.

4) it’s worth the money I’d say because of its integration into the can bus and easily controlled from the ESP button without interfering with the button function.

Plus it eradicates the FL cold start wastegate rattle.

@T-800 thanks mate.. you have confirmed what I thought..

re: 4. its worth it just for that! can't stand 'that bag of nails' sound on my 6 month old car :)

Cheers

So much better than the £60 exhaust valve terminal plugs !
Been there bought those and took them off
It’s also been proven that just unplugging the valves and triggering an exhaust valve error, will make the car pull back the power higher in the Rev range, because it thinks the valves aren’t open.

A friend of mine experimented on a dyno day and you could see the drop off in power once it hit the threshold where it opens up the valves.

yeh this was exactly what I was worried about, I want to be able to switch off 'asbo' mode when I want to.. having them unplugged all the time would get annoying..

I remember seeing a thread about the dyno run I think.. I dont want my car to be holding back any power on me :)

thanks again for the info.. I fear an imminent Purchase incoming!

Bought my valve controller from a forum member Kev Marsh - top bloke. Had mine fitted for about 3 weeks and zero regrets. It’s a big outlay but very useful and the noise on full valves open is awesome!

@T-800 @haywoon after delaying my delivery due to other commitments it arrived last night and sure enough fitted in 15ish minutes later..

I can hear it clicking the valve whist engine off and I had a cheeky start up to check (immense) but I couldn’t get the auto start /stop to power down the unit? Is there a knack?

I held it for 5 secs expecting to hear the valve go click again but nothing happened?

Any ideas?

Cheers

ESC button twice to open or close the valves @zippster that’s how I control mine.

If I want to revert back to the cars way then I just go into Drive Select and pick a mode.

I’ve never felt the need to shut it down.

no worries, I was just trying to test for service time, driving around this morning.. its subtle and effective :) I like it.. and the best bit cold start no longer sounds like I've emptied a bag of nails in the exhaust :)

Nothing was said when I had a service.

The car is noisy as a rule so they ain’t fussed / know it’s any different from what it should be.

Will the can bus controller work the same with a pfl car ??

When I had the cete on my pfl the start/stop button disabled the unit if held for 5 seconds, then hold again for 5 seconds would re enable the unit again.

Agree with T800 they will never know so just say nowt. Stick in comfort when you drop it off at Audi.

The service mode idea is great, but one which could conflict for me. I’ve got the start stop module installed and I’ve got to press and hold for 10 seconds to put into service mode etc, hmm..

Valve controller seems very nice and I’m sure I will invest one day but for now am happy with the valves open all of the time.. you get used to any drone.

Audi somehow figured out I had the PCW mod... :( Oh and valves unplugged, but with the delete plugs so no errors.

Quick update a week in..

Weird not having to cycle thru 5 times to open flaps and also weird not hearing the bag of nails for the first 30secs..

That cold start though :):):)

The ‘Asbo’ is living up to its reputation !

#bestmodever

Anyone thinking about doing it, DO IT! .. it’s not too obnoxious (cold start aside) but sounds like it should now in lower rpm range ..

Wished I had seen this thread a couple of days ago as today I've spent £340 on two new motors for exhaust as I was expecting the flaps to be closed when starting in comfort and eco modes so I've been looking up exhaust with camera thinking that they should be shut when ticking over and have now learned that they don't :culpability:
Seems I need one of these CETE valves to do that, so before I spend even more money can I just confirm that I have a 2015 S3 and it will keep the valves closed on startup in comfort mode and keep them shut until 4000rpm and keep them open totally in dynamic mode?

Your exhaust flaps should be closed on start up?

Sounds like you do have a fault! Our main issue on this thread is that they are closed a lot of the time and we want them open, including start up and in comfort and the controller allows that.

Sounds like you are asking about this module to make your car work as it should do from factory?

Thanks for you response but from what I have now read they should be open on startup as standard then close in second gear and at certain revs.
The problem I got is I have just purchased a non resonated Milltek pipe with de-cat so wanted to keep the noise down on startup and driving in the street but from what I have read on the website it might not be good to run one on a Stage 3 tune anyway?

One side open at idle then both open in first all revs but close again in 2nd 3rd 4th etc until about 4k revs when valves open again. And relax ;)

They are closed on every start up regardless, uncontrollable when the car is stock.

If you leave in comfort they stay closed in every gear until 4000rpm.

If you put the car in dynamic they will open when idle (regardless of dynamic will not be open when you turn the key or on a cold start). They close the instant you pull off and through most of 1st gear, from there on they open after say 2500rpm in each gear.

Seriously considering pulling the trigger on one of these, although it's coming out at around £390 delivered so it aint exactly cheap..

I do a majority of my driving in Individual mode, which I've basically set to dynamic mode apart from the mag ride suspension which is set to standard.

Would this controller recognise the individual mode is set to sporty on startup, and therefore have the valves open? Does it eliminate the 'bag o nails' rattle on startup in any mode?

Thanks in advance!

Double tap of ESC opens valves in any mode. Same again shuts them.

Jesus you managed to answer before I'd edited to comment about the price lol.. Skills!

Opening and closing works without the engine running I would assume?
