Anyone fitted uprated Anti roll bars to std suspension ?...and did it work ?
Embarrassing today following a Golf GTD...yes D and while he seemed to be able to change lanes at will in an instant, i had to back off as the S3 is pretty unstable at speed.
I keep looking at shocks but i fitted Koni adjustables to my Manta GTE years ago and completely ruined the ride, it handled ok but would break your back on bumps even on the softest setting.

Any thoughts ?

Im.curious to know as i want to have more stability at speed also considering coilovers but don't know where to start lol

Yes but coilovers are £1000+ a set, that may be whats needed but anti rolls would be a lot cheaper if they did the job.

Sooty, please explain how talent stops your car rolling on its springs ? is that like your imagination makes it go faster ?

Yea i know coilovers is a something i want to do in the future but suppose ARBs make it better i would opt for that first and then if i feel its not enough i would go down the route of coilover, but yea would like to know people opinions and experiences with there qualifications, not retired old tossers

perhaps look at the ball-joints or bushes, go poly bush. ap Coilovers are by kw and only come in about 450. about 250 for h&r arb set. probably best done at the same time if it's gonna happen.

mine is stock and feels fine for stability but have been looking into these things to see how on-rails it can be got at a reasonable cost. that and the ride has seemed a bit crashy recently (might be just me). I do value comfort these days though!

from what I've read; Coilovers seem to get better feedback than spring/shock combos such as h&r/bilstein b8, spending less on Coilovers is not going to result in >oem handling.

not sure how effective it would all be, but cost is not too much different if you're replacing suspension anyway. with new cars, they are just tight and you feel invulnerable. with these things I wonder how much is down to age and general wear particularly with regard to confidence. a bit of this and a bit of that...

oh, of course if you're on ditchfinders then it'll be those.

Good post ike, i am on 25mm lower springs on the front, what they call eibach pro set up where they dont consider the back needs dropping.on the S3, i run Eagle F1 iso 3's
The golf was new so would be tight and to be fair i have exactly double the BHP he had so the S3 will be a bit lively , it actually rides bump quite well but its lane changes that get it tipping one way or the other and i would go so far as to say it 90% on the front.
I am mind full that Audi spend millions on research and development setting up these things and the idea you can improve that on a budget is maybe wishful thinking. The fact that the Golf was new means its was probably stock which means the Stock S3 would be the same so most of my problems are going to be worn parts not usuitable parts if you get my drift. That would mean new ARB's would be trying to cover problems elsewhere i suppose. A slippery slops :)

interesting, makes some sense that an eibach kit is front only. i did wonder!

so you have decent kit. should certainly not be worse than stock.

wouldn’t say that oem can’t be improved on within budget, there is A LOT of compromise in mass car production. just not with cheap cheap too good to be true stuff.

agree re worn parts. this is when you want a good friendly mechanic to get it in the air, look over with you, discuss and advise. would prefer to be wrong and ‘it was x, now i’m on rails’ but even the most boggo of new cars can still be a sharp weapon (in the right hands).

034 ARB on an 8P RS3 - huge 'positive' difference to the front end 'bite'

Hi Paddy, I had the front eibach springs on mine and fitted H&R ARBs front and back and in conjunction with Michelin SuperSport tyres and a decent 4 wheel suspension alignment, it totally transformed the way the car cornered and changed direction. I found myself throwing it into roundabouts at silly speeds with no understeer - just a bit of 4 wheel drift right on the limit. There was also no noticeable change in ride comfort either - £ for £ one of the best mods you can make on the car after a stage 1 remap imo.

Are super sports better then PS4's and could u guy be specific to which springs from.eibach as i may try that before coil overs sounds a lot cheaper

Cup2 > PS4S (>= 19") > PS4 > PSS, they're talking about Eibach Pro-Kit springs, there's some new ones on auction on the bay for 75 squid plus postage (been relisted) if you wanna go that way.

does anyone know how the ST ARB kit compares to the H&R kit? it's a ton cheaper, or a Whiteline ARB kit? (a pony less than H&R)

also, seen recommendations for the Whiteline ALK, does anyone know how the Powerflex (/black) solution compares?

Supersports are a better summer tyre than the PS4 (PS4 is better in the wet though). There's not much in them but I needed all the grip I could get at stage 3.

Just to confuse things Michelin offer a PS4s (for 19's and above) which is the next gen supersport.

Most premium tres will be fine and you should be running them even on a stock S3 anyway. I use Goodyear F1 eagles iso 3 and get good mileage and plenty of grip.

Yea mine came with ps4 near the end of its life at the front and cheap **** ones at the back car dealers eyy

was getting into this yesterday... nluk is right in that it is about dialling out oversteer. I believe the front is thicker because there is more weight at the front (engine) so there is the need for more support there.

I've seen a number of people say just do the rear (with sport springs on front). also 'of those polled' (from threads I've read) more seem to lean toward a 4mm difference between front and rear, which seems strange as S said, H7r are the general go-to. the eibach is that configuration and therefore would seem to be more oriented to oversteer where the h&r would be more oriented to understeer. the st one I was looking at is also 26/22, kw I understand go in-between at 26/23. I guess rear-only would make things tail-happy, could be interesting, then do the front if needed/wanted? the stock front bar is 22mm from what I've seen.

If the stock bar is 22 thats what Eibach supply as an upgrade at the back.

Mine is not an S3 but I have Eibach ARBs on the Pro kit springs and Bilstein B8s.

Stock arbs are hollow. Aftermarket ones are solid.
Then there are multiple mounting points on aftermarket ones too.

Do the aftermarket, such as H&R come with poly bushes or is that something id have to buy separately?

With poly bushes, without brackets (gotta use old ones).

No mate, the thicker rear bar dials out understeer at the front, a thicker front bar will make the rear twitchy. H&R replace both to give a nice balance. The front is a pain to fit as you have to lower the front subframe, which usually means a trip to the alignment guys afterwards, but if you haven't had one done before you will probably find that all corners are out and this also makes a big difference.

The eibach arbs I have came with brackets pre-installed - one of the reasons I went with them after recommendation from my tuner. I was initially going with H&R.
