This is my first car ordered from factory, I’m not sure how long they take. So far I have a build week of 16, how long do they generally take to arrive at the dealer?

My build week is 15 and it’s expected at the dealers first or second week in May so looking good for around then I would expect.

The dealer told me 4 weeks from build but it does depend on if it’s built late in a week it can slip by one. Not that bothered, it will be here when it is...as long as I don’t get messed about with my pex if it slips into a new month.

Audi's contracts with their logistics companies are that the car needs to be at the port in The Netherlands within 2 weeks of release from the factory and likewise the car has 2 weeks from arrival in the UK to be at the dealer. Clearly there could be a day or 2 delay from when it drives off the production line to being released by the factory and it may take a couple of days from arriving at the port to making its way across the North Sea, but 4-5 weeks is a fair estimate and may have reported quicker times

Do you have an update on you car? Mine was week 16 (15th April) and according to customer services on Twitter it was Emden waiting for a ship on the 17th

Had an update on Thursday that it’s waiting for a ship as well so our cars may well be on the same boat. Dealer said he expected the car to be with him in 3 weeks so all on schedule at the minute.

I ordered a new A6 today, looking at 4-5months according to the dealer!

I suppose at least it will be a 69 (snigger) reg

I’ve gone for 40TDI S-Line in glacier white with tech pack, sound and comfort pack, flat bottom steering wheel, privacy glass and folding mirrors.

Would have loved a 50tdi but I commute 45 miles each way every day so economy rules over power (plus I couldn’t afford a 50tdi!)

As it has the multifunction camera as park of the sound and comfort pack, I’m wondering if other functions of that can be enabled (such as traffic sign recognition) via VCDS

Nice!!
That’s similar to mine Glacier White, privacy glass, storage pack, 4zone climate control and HD matrix lights.

The folding mirrors are standard I believe or have you gone for the dimming option?

I didn’t bother with the 4 zone climate control as I’m going to be on my own in the car most of the time and it’s one less thing for the kids to mess around with! Plus they can get climate control when they grow up and buy their own car I am tempted to message the dealer and get the rear sun blinds added though.

How are the HD matrix lights?

Yeah it’s the dimming mirrors. Had that on my S3 and they were good

Cars on a ship hopefully so can’t comment anything yet.

I got the climate control for the kids. We use it all the time for them and my son can just reach it so he can cool himself down. Love your attitude towards it though wish I’d thought like that, I could have got the B&O sound pack then lol.

Ah sorry didn't twig yours hadn't arrived yet! Let me know how it goes when you get it! This is going to be a slow wait for mine to arrive!

Do all cars get built on the same schedule?
I ordered last week in March but have no idea at all on build timeframe.

Had a call from the dealership, car has landed in the uk, 7-10 days to get to the dealers then pick up soon after. All going very smoothly which is a novelty for me buying a new car.

Exciting news!
When did you confirm the order? Is it all on schedule?
What spec did you order?

It was a car that was already in the pipeline that I was happy with so I didn’t order it until the middle of March. No fancy spec 45tfsi avant Quattro tech pack in Daytona Grey. Nothing else on the options list that I really wanted.

Looking forward to getting it, currently refurbing a bathroom and it’s been a ****** fitting stuff for it in the M2!

Sounds great, it'll be interesting to hear your opinion on the 2.0 TFSi engine.

Well I ended up changing my order a little bit as found out I could get the a better spec A6 for the same price at the same dealer if I did it through Carwow, which caused a bit of back and forth with the dealer but ended up a few more bits and pieces so my order now is as follows:

A6 Avant 40tdi Black Edition S-Tronic in Glacier White
Tech pack, comfort and sound pack, touring pack, HD matrix LEDS, Adaptive Wipers, Heads up display, full leather and dimming mirrors.

I would put money they don't have one like that just knocking around or in production without an owner assigned so I imagine I'll have the longest possible wait for this to turn up. Going to be a long summer!

Sounds a great spec, cant wait to see it

Its the first new car I've ordered and I got a bit carried away on the options, however thought meh, going to have it for at least 4 years and do around 20k miles a year so might as well get something I'll be comfortable in and didn't want to regret not getting something after it was too late

The dealer contacted me this week saying Audi aren't taking any orders at the factory at the moment and is waiting to hear back from them when to find out when they will start again.

Bit annoying that they launch the black edition then won't take any orders at the factory for it!

I rang Audi UK about this earlier as the person at the dealer hadn't got back to me since Tuesday stating they were waiting for a call back from Audi and wasn't there today. Funny how they were waiting for a call from Audi on Tuesday yet I ring them at 4:45 on a Fri afternoon and they have an answer for me by 5pm.

Anyway, if anyone is in the market for an A6 at the mo, the official line is that Audi have closed orders for the MY19 A6 and will open for the MY20 A6 from June apparently with the first build dates starting from July.

I'll be keeping an eye on the Audi website closely for any spec/package changes prior to my order being accepted at the factory!

It'll be interesting to see if they make any of the current optional extras standard equipment in the MY20 model.

Presume that they will need to get the MY20 spec cars retested for WLTP, hence not accepting orders until it is done

Not WLTP, nooooo! Hopefully it wont be a 12 month wait like the A4!

It is usual practice for Audi to close down orders prior to the next MY model. WLTP testing depends upon if they change anything, different engines or new options. After all it isn't a new model so the original certificate of conformity should apply..
