Rear sensors work exactly as before but unfortunately you gain not graphic display unless you also retrofit them to the front of the vehicle.

all thew needed coding is detailed within this thread, there are links to a PDF document also.

hello, guys,
please tell me, how can i conected 2 phones in this same time with my car?
When I ordered my s3 seller said "if you buy a phone box" you will be able to connect two phones at the same time. Without a phone box you can not change it programmatically? I currently have one phone that can handle voice calls and the other media. but if I have 2 phones with sim cards, only one can be connected at a time. in vw tiguan 2 I could have 2 phones connected at once. I have a vag-moze coding cable, can I use it to change this function somewhere in the options? s3 2018

Might be an idea to ask in the forum as opposed to a thread specific to a reversing camera retrofit... and if you have a facelift vehicle with Audi phone box and MMI technology pack you can go in to the connection manager and add a 2nd / additional phone

I have mmi but I do not have a phone box. Maybe somewhere in the software you can allow a second phone without having a phone box. do you know where to find it? in the previous car alltrack golf I connected 2 phones and I did not have a phone box, so I think it's a question of software, not a physical device. in VW tiguan 2 2016 I also connected 2 phones and I did not have a phone box.
I would suggest posting in the Audi A3 8v vcds thread or the Audi-sport.net VCDS sub forum, then myself and others may be able to assist. I would also suggest contacting a moderator in order to remove your posts from this thread as they are not related to the subject: reversing camera retrofit.

Hi. Did anyone managed to get rid of the error "message Parkhilfe_01 not received" after rear camera retrofit? I retrofited a FL rear camera, it works as it should when I engage reverese gear and if I press the PDC button, the camera image+ops graphic go away. But if I press the PDC button to bring the camera image+OPS graphic on the MMI screen it doesn't work, but the parking sensor become active and beep as they should. I already updated the gateway firmware from version M to AJ, and also updated the Park Assist firmware. But the issue/error persists. Any ideas?

Edit: my car's a 2014 A3 with a retrofited MIB2.

Some updates on this:
I read some reports that updating the gateway, in my car was originally 5Q0907530M, to version AM would solve the issue with the PDC button and it would also get rid of "message Parkhilfe_01 not received" error. Unfortunately the AM firmware is not present in those widely available flashdaten zips.

After updating the gateway to AM, the error was indeed gone, but the PDC button issue persisted in my case. With the error gone and as I read that AM solved the issue for others, at this stage, the main culprit remaining was the park asssist module.

Initially I updated the firmware for my OE park assist module 5Q0 919 294E to ver. K than L, but no luck. So I bought a cheap FL 8ch module 5QA 919 294B and this finally solved the PDC button issue but now I have a DTC on the park assist that I cannot get rid off:
09 (U112100) Databus missing message (Bremsensteuergerät - ESP_33 - kein Signal/keine Kommunikation) Break / short to ground. Lamp OFF Status unknown.

Any ideas on this?

Worked it out! I updated the firmware for the 03 (Brakes) module from 5Q0907379AA (H31 0457) to 5Q0907379CK (H31 0472) and that got rid of that ESP_33 error.

Hi fellas. I have this option available from factory on my FL 8V. Is there any coding to make graphic zoomed in like bmw's trailer tow mode? Cheers.

no zooming possible but there is a trailer mode:

Not trying to exactly revive a dying thread but I am having an issue with my factory backup camera and this is the only place the code is popping up. One day backup camera just died. Left it alone for a couple of months until I decided to tackle it myself. Popped out all the trunk lining and found broken cables on both sides. Fixed left side which was the license plate light. Fixed the broken cables on the right side which got rid of my backup camera code but maintained the 131689 code(will include pictures) The coax cables outer insulation is broken along with the shielding but the inner cable doesn't look to be broken. There is continuity on the end of the coax cable and power going to the camera and yet it still won't pop up. Is this a camera issue? Grounding issue? Module issue? Any help is appreciated. 8V A3 (USA spec)

Rejoin the cables and shielding. I see this all the time with factory fitted cameras.

Hey new to the forum. Just a big thanks for the DIY.
My car 2014 s3 saloon has revers camera and parking sensors.
for some reason it stopped working. when i click camera button it just blinks and returns to parking sensor graphic.
Audi diagnosed and found that the wiring harness is the fault.
After offering to sell it to me for 365 EUR + VAT i decided to buy from elsewhere.
Got set from aliexpress, its a full set, camera, control unit and harness. (ordered it before i found out it was the harness only) costed me 250 USD for all.

So long story short, im going to replace the harness myself. After checking the DIY, its all clear apart from 2 points.
How do you know which one of the 2 pins is CAN high and CAN Low?
and which one is FBAS - and FBAS +

any help is welcome.
My car is RHD by the way.
Im assuming no coding is needed after i replace the harness :)

Sounds like we just went through the exact same thing except I’m fixing instead of replacing. Curious to see how bad it is to do the trunk wiring harness

How you know which exact wire is bad to repair it? Easier to buy the set for 20$ and replace it.

If you scroll up you can see my post. For me (LHD) it was the right side of the trunk. At the end of the trunk lid posts

Do you recommend a splice or a new cable?

Personally I would run in a new cable but then I have the tools and knowledge to do so. If you are cool with pulling your vehicle to bits and replacing the cable then go for it.

It’s already pretty torn apart plus I think I can manage to run a cable from the camera to the module pretty easily. Do you have a link for a replacement cable?

From wiring / current flow diagrams. Typically:

Orange = CAN
Black and Clear (or white) = Video

Connect CAN first and test communication to the module, if none then swap the oranges over. For video connect black to the bottom and the clear / white to the top.

Cool cool :)

No as I order my bits from a trade supplier. Should be able to find on eBay / aliexpress I would have thought.

Yes i know this. Its just i dont know which one is - and which is + and same for high and low. To test the connection you mentioned i need the coding tool yes? And i dont have it. I guess ill take to audi. They asked for 200€ to pass the new cable (supplied by me) i think its worth it thinking about how much time i need to put in it:)

Orange / Blue (or purple) = CAN High
Orange / Brown = CAN Low

Cannot remember the video side of things as I just have colours burnt in to my brain and not “names”.

You will need a coding / diagnostic tool anyway as this retrofit is not plug and play even if the camera u it is pre-codes.

Mine is not retrofit. It has the camera already. It stopped working. According to audi diagnostics its bad harness is the issue.

Then there is a black and clear cable is left, if you can remember them:)

Then yes, you would need a diagnostic reader of some description in order to make the job easier however you could run the cable in and test. If it’s not work then swap the CAN and test, if still not working then swap the video and if still not working you can swap the CAN. This should test all combinations.

Replaced the cable and the camera still doesn’t work

That would suggest an issue with the camera or its control unit (not sure what year vehicle you have), you have the wrong cable, or the connections to the MMI are incorrect.

It’s a 2015 A3 Quattro. I have a module coming on Tuesday so we can see if it’s that

So being a 2015 you have a camera, an external module and then two wiring looms, am assuming it’s the power and video signal from the module to the camera handle that was broken. You have not stated if you have a diagnostic tool with which to see what’s going on faults wise. Changing things out without digging in to the results might turn out to be costly however there is not much that can go wrong with this loom as it’s just two pin power and then a Fakra connector.

I have a VCDS but mainly use carista to check the codes. The main one that is sticking around is the no communication with the module code. From earlier in this thread it seemed people were getting that code with a bad ground. I know the camera is getting power and the video cable is unbroken and working(I made a new one). Seems like I have 3 options left. Either the module is dead, the camera is dead(and refuses to talk to the module), or something between the mmi and the module is dead. I hope it’s one of the first 2 because those are easier to fix.

You have VCDS, good. For the moment you cannot see the 6C module and as a result you will not be able to see any further down the rear of the car, ie will not be able to see the camera handle, until communication is restored. Possible issues preventing your CAN gateway from communicating with the 6C camera module:

1) faulty power feed to module
2) faulty earth to module
3) faulty CAN connection to the module
4) you have a faulty faulty module

Note: If your camera handle was dead but 6C module ok then you would still be able to communicate with 6C. If the 6C module was ok but the camera handle was dead then you would have open circuit errors towards the camera handle.

I would start fault finding by checking the 7.5 amp fuse. If the fuse is good then check for 12v on the loom which connects to the 6C module. These deal with issue 1. If all is well then trace (replacing would be faster I think) the earth from the 6C module and test the continuity. This deals with issue 2. If all is good with power and earth then you only have issues 3 and 4 remaining. For testing I would run two AWG20 wires outside the vehicle, from the MMI CAN HI and LOW to the 6C control module CAN HI and LOW. If still no communication then I would swap over the connections. If still no comms then chances are you have a faulty control module. If you have communications then you need to check the factory CAN for continuity and replace / repair the faulty wire.

One thing to note. Just because you might get 12v at the end of a wire does not mean that it's being connected and passed to the control module in question. Connector pins can expand so that contact is not made. Remove the pins from the connector housing and apply pressure to make them a little tighter. Corrosion can also cause issues.

Mine were pretty obviously broken at the bend but if it still doesn’t work I’ll replace it

I got mine fixed yesterday. I thought audi was going to replace the whole cable. I didnt know where the problem was. After picking up my car i saw that the cables were broken exactly where yours are. Dam it. They charged 220€ to replace cables from camera to control module! Now i feel like an idiot;) i could have done it in 30 mins.
I thought they will replace the whole cable and it was a good deal to pay them to do it.
If i had diagnostics tool would i be able to find which part of the cable is bad? If i can get feedback from camera module separately, it would mean cable and module are ok. And if camera doesnt respond its either camera or cables...

Hi, just successfuly installed a FL rear camera into a 2016 PFL A3 sedan without parking sensors thanks to this amazing thread, now the owner wants to use the PDC button to toggle the cam view on demand as he got ahold of the dash switch module (part no. 8V0925301KNV6), is this possible on a car without OPS?

Swapped Dash switch module works fine (drive select button, ESC, hazzards, etc), but pushing PDC button does nothing, does it require a 5F module adaptations only or does it depends on the reverse OPS (module 10 park assist)?

Pretty sure that module has component protection which may be affecting it also.
