After moving from a C7 A6 to a C8 A6, it appears that some functions are no longer available:
  • Fuel prices
  • City events
  • Flight times
  • Train times
Or am I missing something?
Cheers,
Dave.

Interesting observation. Now you come to mention it, I haven't seen them either. The fuel price is there somewhere, as I have definitely seen a fuel price, but I can't remember how or when.

I guess it is less apparent since there is no longer an "Audi connect" menu that you choose and the options appear; the features are just available on the main screen, but if that were the case, then next to the news and weather "icons" there should be these other choices as well.

Plus, Twitter is buried at the bottom of the news feeds list, which isn't very intuitive.
I'll have a root around for fuel, perhaps you have to do a special destinations search for filling stations and the price is part of the result offers.

Yes now I come to think of it, it was when the fuel alert came up, and it suggested a petrol station en-route, and showed the price at the pump. So that was handy and well done. However I've also had a hunt around and can't find a way to pull up the fuel prices, so I guess for now, they are missing...

Didn't find the pricing particular accurate the one time I chose a petrol station based on the prices stated.

Can you expand on that? which part of "MMI" do you mean, and "press p"? Don't understand that, but definitely want to know what you are referring to?

Thanks

i will write in the morning mate .i will tell you what to press on mmi ,when going to work.

Go to Maps (press navigation button) -> then there should be a 'Search' button at top right, and beside that search box button should be a button with four squares, if you press that four square button then right at the bottom left press 'P' option. Then it should give the points of location like stations/banks etc. Cheers

Yeah good find, choosing petrol stations will list them including the prices.

Yes, well done for finding this. Actually this makes sense as far as the integration goes, nice tidy place as the only time you really need to know the fuel price, is when searching for a garage. Shame the other features have been removed, but to be honest, I think I only used the flight lookup once in the past 30 months, so realistically not a big loss for me.

Why not use the voice option when searching for petrol prices. I am sure it's just a simple command...

I'll have to give that a go - only really used the voice dialog for telephone functions so far, plus the old "I'm too hot!" command :grinning:

Does the manual contain any reference to a jukebox or the ability to copy tracks from a usb stick or memery card?

Yes I had one in my old A6 too, but I have not noticed one in the latest version.
I think the size of SD cards these days makes it a bit redundant, you can get much bigger ones than the 10GB usually allocated to the jukebox.

I have a 64gb card with all my music, and I leave that permanently in the car. I've been out and checked, and I can't find any option to copy tracks from the memory card onto a jukebox. Like Dave said, I think they've not bothered because of the cheap cost of memory cards and now also streaming services.

With the A4 one thing that really annoyed me was that I couldn't copy music from the DVD/CD player onto the jukebox. When I questioned this with the dealer they didn't know why, so went to Audi UK who said it was due to [ridiculous] rights protection. I know there was an option in the previous A4 to switch this on and off, but they said this option no longer existed in the new A4. The solution apparently, was to put the CD into a PC, rip the tracks there, copy them onto a memory stick, then take the memory stick into the car and copy them from the stick to the jukebox. That's why I just bought the memory card and to be honest it works really well.

Note that there is no DVD player as standard in the A6, so you won't be able to play CD's either!

If there is no sd card carrying the navigation maps then there must be some internal storage of some kind...

There's a hard drive for maps etc, but nothing available for music storage, except SD, USB, DVD/CD (£125 option), Bluetooth & WiFi streaming from a device and online (amazon/napster) sources.

Remember radio only.and cassette cd option.than dvd . Harddrive and now online.
What will be next

I’ve got the Tech pack & Sound/comfort (or whatever they’re called) and it has an SD card slot in the arm rest. It’s now compatible with either a 128/256gb SD card which it tells you about in the manual. I bought a 128gb card which was really cheap, and named the main folder as Jukebox. In media, it shows up as Jukebox (obviously) and is therefore slightly bigger than the old 10gb drive previously fitted in the C7 - so this is far better for me. My C7 had the 10gb hard drive but I never used it as I had 2 SD cards in that one as I needed more space - no point faffing about copying music across to it when you can run it off the cards. I think my A4 B8 was the same as the C8.

Maybe slightly off topic, but was actually looking forward to the apple car play functionality, but can honestly say, I have never used it, integration is poor, plus standard nav is pretty decent!

Totally agree, but this is from the Andoid Auto perspective. The standard MMI and media functions render AA useless in my opinion.

I am in the process of buying an UK registered A6 C8, Can't believe there is no CD Player as standard, they are standard on the irish models but the sports seats on the SLine are only manually adjustable here against electric in the UK. Would like to hear what the standard interior led lighting is like. thanks

Hi @Sean Byrne , the DVD/CD is a £125 option in the UK. It's not that bad as content can easily be transferred to an SD card/smartphone and accessed via the MMI.
I have the standard interior lighting and it is white, you can't change the colour like on the extended kit. It creates a nice enough environment though, I've never had an e tended kit, so dont miss having it.
Hope you enjoy the car and dont forget, we want to see plenty of pics!

I don't miss the CD/DVD drive at all. As everyone says, SD cards are probably a better medium anyway.

I have the extended LED lighting and I really like it - I had it on my previous A4 so knew what I was in for.

Can you listen to Apple Music and use the car sat nav at the same time ?

Yes, you can use Apple music via carplay and switch the main display to the car satnav. You can also see the car satnav in virtual cockpit while having carplay on the main display.

What you can't do is have a carplay nav running (like Waze) at the same time as seeing the car satnav in virtual cockpit - it cancels the route guidance while carplay nav is going (not sure if that actually makes any sense!).

I drive quite a bit and like to have the both views as they have slightly different routing.

Hi all,

Is it possible to play any online music services without using either bluetooth (except maybe for sharing the phones internet connection) or Apple CarPlay?

For example on my current Volvo XC90, there is a native Spotify app built into the cars Sensus (read MMI) system. And I know the BMW used to offer similar for Deezer.

:wq

You can use Amazon (like me) or Napster direct from the MMI. You need to sort data access, either your own data SIM card, or purchase a connect data plan, or an RSAP bluetooth capable smartphone (eg Samsung) to get your stream going.
Amazon works well, if a little slowly

Hi all,

What SIM cards are you using? My dealer told me this week that I don’t have a slot and that it’s built in, I thought they all came with a SIM slot

They all have a built in e-SIM that covers all the Audi Connect data, etc. You can buy data for the wifi hotspot that would also use the e-SIM but it's stupidly expensive.

There is a SIM slot in mine also (I think, might be wrong)

Thanks for that. So the car comes with 3yrs Audi Connect, did you need to pay for a e-SIM data plan for that or is that covered in the 3yrs?

Data plan is (a lot!) extra, as attached:
